I have a hard time seeing the Times story about Trump's taxes changing any minds. Jim Geraghty notes an unsurprising gap between Trump's rhetoric and behavior. More shoulder shrugging from Reason - active real estate investors get plenty of tax breaks.
Whatever. It saves the media from wondering why the FBI relied on a possible Russian agent for the FISA requests backed by the Steele dossier.
Interestingly, Mr. Danchenko co-authored a paper with Fiiona Hill, a star of the Trump Impeachment Show.
Ms. Hill went on to join President Trump’s National Security Council staff as a senior European specialist in 2017. She also testified at his House impeachment hearing. She said she believed Mr. Steele, with whom she once worked while he was a British intelligence officer, was played by Russian disinformation.
Steele, duped?

GUS, it's the general musicality that gets me. Even when it's cheesy (it usually is) it is lightyears more advanced than any post-Beatles Lennon composition.
I'm going against my own grain in some ways because most of the rock music I like the most isn't that musically sophisticated. I just love the talent that pours out of McCartney.
Absent George Martin you really see the difference in range/talent.

PORCH, I completely agree. McCartney was the son of a father who was POP before POP was cool. He had a piano in his home as a kid. POPULAR music and sensibilities were in his blood. Throw away tunes are part and parcel of that mind set. Mrs Gus hates........SOMEONE'S KNOCKIN' AT THE DOOR, ETC.
I don't hate it, but it's got nothing to do with why I love McCartney's skills. DESMOND HAS A BARROW in the MARKET PLACE..... Neat tune to carry in the back of your head, but, CANDY.
LET IT BE. McCartney has always written, for the most part, HAPPY TUNES, that didn't make him get naked in a hotel, to save humanity.

Rush's comments re NYT story which he says is pretty much a nothing burger -They were convinced that Trump’s taxes would reveal evidence of collusion with Putin and with Russia. They were dead certain that Trump’s tax returns — this is why Trump didn’t want to reveal them — that Trump’s tax returns would show massive ties, humongous involvement between Trump and Russian oligarchs and their businesses and Putin. That Russia had basically underwritten Trump’s businesses. That without Russia, Trump’s businesses would have gone bankrupt years ago.
They thought all of that would be in Trump’s tax returns. And on that basis, it is a total bomb for them. None of the rest of the tax story is news when you get right down to it.

I loved McCartney's early Beatles tunes like I'm Down and Since I Saw Her Standing There, but his post Beatle stuff just doesn't do it or me. To me he lost the simplicity that makes rock and roll rock and roll.
The Ballad of John and Yoko was late Beatles but nearly post and Whatever Gets You Through the Night and Jealous Guy [especially Roxy Music's version] just seemed like nice simple catchy tunes without pretense, overproduction or that sometimes cloying sound McCartney was prone to.
And that is my totally correct and entirely subjective factual opinion.
Disagree at your own peril. :)

He’s pro-Brexit. Just saw that he turned 80 in July.
Each of the ex-Beatles managed to put out a couple of decent songs, but the average was not so great IMO. For McCartney it was “Maybe I’m Amazed” and “Just Another Day.” My favorite Ringo song is “It Don’t Come Easy,” but apparently that was actually Harrison’s, which he gave to Ringo.

BETHEL PARK, Pennsylvania — Just a few short months ago, if you drove down Baptist Road in this middle-class southern suburb of Pittsburgh, it would have been hard to miss the Bernie Sanders shrine filling the yard of a tidy, yellow-brick ranch home in the neighborhood. There was the life-size cutout of the former presidential candidate, a large "FEEL THE BERN" homemade sign along the berm of the road, a few "Bernie 2020" and "Get Berned" signs, as well as a lively decorated mailbox plastered with Bernie bumper stickers.
Sometime between the Pennsylvania primary in June (when Democratic voters gave Joe Biden their support) and last week, the shrine came down, replaced by one lone yard sign reading "GIANT METEOR 2020."

However, I think Lennon tapped into a more primal vein pot-Beatles than McCartney and I think I favor that. I know "conservatives" are supposed to hate "Imagine", but it is a wonderfully constructed song.
Anyway, I like the atmospherics, like in "Mind Games":

I wasn't much of a Beatles fan, although I did like some of their songs. The one song I really liked was "Come Together" which I understand was originally written as a campaign song for Timothy Leary and his failed campaign to run for governor of California against Ronald Reagan.
I like the laid back pace of the song with its bizarre, meaningless lyrics. I remember listening to it one cool, rainy day as I was baking cookies. Every time I hear the song, I think of that.

Pablum is sometimes good -- :) -- just a joke, sbw. Invented to nourish and soothe new babies, the cereal also soothed new mothers.
My nominee for a McCartney song is one from The Lake House (another romantic bit of fantasy pablum), This Never Happened Before. There's something about that song that draws me back to 'endure' watching the wooden (but beautifully handsome) Keanu Reeves and (enjoyable) Sandra Bullock in The Lake House once a year or so when I want to escape. The song and the couple's romantic dance is sheer escapism, and I find I need it more and more as I grow old in this shitty world.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SEWam-uEoU
I recorded/videoed the song for our granddaughter AJ during the quarantine. Posted it on here, and I think Extraneous and maryrose were the only people who watched it or mentioned it. Singing that song and making that video, for some obscure reason, made me happy during those few bad days. Lovely song.

Post Lennon McCartney = pablum.
Post-Beatles, McCartney got to be his full goofy self, and some of it is wonderful "Junk" is dreamy and evocative and could never have been a Beatles song. "Monkberry Moon Delight" is wonderful and high-spirited and I doubt Lennon would've considered singing along. Sir Paul wrote "For No One", he's a cultural icon who walks the walk.

Alright, listening to Eric Trump, who just said:
"The LGBTQ community, they are incredible and you should see how they've come out in full force for my father. Every single day. I'm part of that community and we love the man."
So, to me, this is a person who just said "I'm part of the LGBTQ community", but Mrs. hrt says he is speaking as a hypothetical LGBTQ supporter and that my quote, though accurate, is out of context.

Where does Omar get her money? It could be that she has a large campaign war chest.
Or, if there are people on the ballot running for state legislature or something, maybe she charges THEM for the votes and then pays the illegal voters with the money.

Jane when you wake up.
What did Tucker say that tempted you to join A-Bob and Buckeye and me at the Ledge Bar?

OL-
But remember that for most of The Machine members, if you didn't vote, you lost your job.

Nice here this AM. My little girl Beagle aka Lady got out. Forgot to put her fence collar on. Just have to wait her out. She is too clever and quick to catch outside.
Rich,
Sorry to hear about your Dad and all your apartment kerfuffle.

The Ballad of John and Yoko was late Beatles..
The b-side of the single, "Old Brown Shoe", is the better song and one of Harrison's best Beatles tracks.

Rich, Clarice and Jane gave you good suggestions on the lease situation.
"Approving the Application" is not the same as "Signing the Lease" in the usual leasing situation.
The property owner might have lender driven limits on "tenant occupants" vs "investor tenants" or some such that caused the Lease Signer to balk. I assume you were the co-applicant to help with the credit; sometimes offering to be the "Guarantor" and not the Co-applicant can get around the problem. My first step would be to just ask them outright.
