Aaron Judge homers, then is robbed of a chance to rob a home run by a weird outfield wall that looks like a padded version of a prison fence. Or maybe a border fence?

And OL, I can't decide if I want to reserve a table on the ledge or not. My rational side says yes, but my hopeful optimistic side (the one that listened to the teen tell me that they just thwarted the safety rules at school this week and went outside for lunch and study halls despite the rules dictating otherwise) thinks that it'll be fine. Maybe you'll allow the latecomers a seat on the floor with our legs dangling over the edge? Or washing dishes?

Robin, we even promised MM a right to join us in the end, but warned her she would have to climb our "late arrival rope ladde"r since the drawbridge will be long gone before her light bulb goes on.

Cathyf, the high schoolers are supposed to go to their 3rd period class and eat lunch there, but the teachers don't want them in their rooms with their masks off, so many (most?) of the students decided to beg forgiveness and went straight outside to congregate and eat lunch.
The rule was that there are only supposed to be two people at an outdoor table, but if kids bring a chair from the cafeteria outside, they can join the group at the table. My daughter was like, whatever - we're spaced the same whether at the table or in the chairs. This was delivered with a massive eye roll. The teens are not all the sheep that we expected, and I'm glad.

Robin, I was reflecting as were you just why smart sciency-type people are as bat shit crazy as the rest.
I concluded that it stems from the shift over many years of science being driven and funded by "real people using their own money" to the condition today where so many of them are funded by free money from the sky sprinkled on them by middle men collecting their own free money from the sky.
More people need to starve in this country for us to get back on track.

Gah, I hate rope ladders, I'll make sure to arrive before you burn the bridges.
Speaking of, I'm working on a story about the Mona Lisa traveling around free France during WW2 which has been rather fascinating research-wise. The head of the Musee Nationaux was a brilliant logistical planner and strategist when negotiating with the Nazis over the museum's holdings, which he scattered all over France to keep out of their hands.

OL, that "free money" has created a network of savvy operators who know how to write a grant to obtain a windfall. Plenty of the scientists I know actually work on that side of science and understand the value of the narrative. They make good money too.
If you saw my link about Ithaca College laying off over a hundred tenured professors and closing/merging department, you'll see that starvation for some is upon us. ;-)
We'll see what that brings.

I agree with Robin’s take, but I also agree with OL’s post about “waiting to find out if the tumor is benign or not,” or something along those lines. Despite the constant anxiety I can only be hopeful about Trump winning.

Willowed;
--Closer I got to the city, the more Biden signs I saw. More significant was the number of shuttered businesses, including a favorite Chinese restaurant.
That one nearly brought a tear to my eye.
The Dems messaging that this is all Trump’s fault is working in the blue hellholes. Trump’s counter message that he shut down flights from China is too little, too late.
If we don’t have exceptional turnout, I think he is toast.--
I'm not used to such questionable reasoning from you, Buckeye.
Of course there are more Biden signs as you get closer to blue hells; it is ever thus. So how is that a metric for how well Dem messaging is working?
For all we know those shuttered businesses are essentially pro Trump signs, because business owners know it was their governor and mayor who shut them down, not Trump, as do not a small number of their customers.
It's Trump daily yelling "open up" and progs yelling "shut it down".
Is Nate Silver sockpuppeting you?
Now Trump might still lose, but I don't think what you saw and what you extrapolated from it, informs us whether he will or not.

Also, I might get caught on the wrong side of the bridge and if so I'll go down swinging too. Crutches can really catch people off guard.

OMG tell me about it. I called our son this morning to see if they got the Bday presents for Grace. They aren't having a party because of Covid - even with family. Yes we got them. Great, I will send Paige's in the next week or so.
Me: What are y'all planning for Thanksgiving?
Him: Mom, you know we won't go out as long as Covid is going on. Didn't you see that 'your boy Trump' got the virus? Hahahaha.
Me: Is he dead? NO. It's a freaking coronavirus AKA flu. 99.7% of people recover. We now have a lot of therapies that we didn't know about back in March and there is going to be a vaccine soon. It isn't 'dangerous.' I had it and I'm still here.
Him: Yeah, but you can get it again.
Me: Ummm nope. Very very rare. If you could get it again, why bother with a vaccine? It would be pointless. The vaccine is intended to safely introduce it to you so you can build up the anti bodies necessary to fight it if you are exposed to it. You do understand what antibodies are right?
Him: Yes I know what antibodies are and you are wrong. Click.

I got the nicest text on my phone from my grandson, the one who graduated with a business degree from IU. He sent me a photo from Kohl's where they already have their Christmastown stuff out and he said it reminded him of my Christmas Eve celebrations, one of his favorite childhood memories.
It is so nice when they remember and thank you. He said when things died down at his work he will come take me to lunch. I told him I hoped that this corona thing died down soon, because I thought people were getting overly paranoid about it.
Then I texted "Grandma ain't askeerd." He thought that was funny, and he agreed, too.
Thank goodness, he's not gone off the deep end!

It paid me about $30/day back in the 80's when my daughter was in pre-school and then elementary school, and I also was able to spy on the staff and see how classes were operating.
That's why I was able to call BS on certain high school history and government teachers.

When I made my debut in 2009 one of the first skirmishes I instigated revolved around the GOP/Dem non-binding Senate Resolution 511 where the DC collective only cared about McCain’s eligibility issues. Within that early portion of the multi-year Birther Wars, I was adamant that there was one party rule in DC. JOM masterminds requested that I be banned...
3 years later the expose on the RNC/DNC Consent Decree should have have clinched a he existence of The Uniparty. I was again asked told to leave the forum.

Maybe, but it happens frequently enough and coincidentally only happens to the names and other typically used keywords to find the documents needed on FOIA requests. An OCR error would not always happen on key search words almost exclusively. I process pdfs all day with several different pdf tools (Adobe, Blubeam, Abbyy) and OCR errors in processing happen randomly and will fark with the same words sometimes and not sometimes on the same page... not every time for the same word on the same page. Plus, the government has the SOURCE document for comparison and errors are easily correctable for proper documentation - IF your intention is to properly document. A dubious assumption for government work.
