Perhaps you can clarify a concern I have about Real Clear Politics. This morning Fox News reported an average of polls in battleground states compiled by RCP which showed the President behind by significant margins (5 to 8 points). Then I read the recent RCP article on which political party is trying to "Blow Up" our Constitution. While the article eventually demonstrated all that the democrats are doing to make significant changes to our Constitution that could change America far into the future, the criticisms against the President from his style to the efforts he has made against the Chinese virus permeated the article. In short, they don't like his personality, and that bias seems to infect everything that the media — right or left — puts out.
Perhaps I'm too sensitive on this point, but having seen the President's many and significant accomplishments these past 3+ years in the face of enormous opposition, you'd think they could cut him some slack on his personality. Especially now as the country faces the possibility of electing the team Dumb and Dumber Socialist.

Back to the music thing. The Sonos phone app is wonderful. You access your library in about every conceivable way: artist, album, genres, songs, etc, etc. From there you can create fresh playlists, append, save, etc. Randomize, shuffle, etc. I edit my library so album covers display. There’s a Mac app that lets you clean up your library and tweak compilation albums and genres. I don’t do a lot with that, but it drives me crazy that the ‘factory’ definitions that are embedded in the music are all over the map on their classifications.
There are volume controls on each path so you don’t have to track down your big remote in case you are moving around.
The Horde has some real turds in the punchbowl whenever someone like EVH passes with the "he spawned two generations of shredding wankers" as if they wouldn't have happened anyway. Even "well known tasteful guitarists" like Robbie Robertson and Richard Thompson do their share Fender cranking in person (with few exceptions I think The Band became a myth after their second album, with the sum total of really good songs on all subsequent albums not equalling the number on their self titled classic; and Robbie became just another guitar hero). Thompson has a really dry sense of humor; I'd like to ask him if he enjoys doing those jaw dropping solos or finds them tedious, and if he tries out new techniques.
I don’t get what this means but I used the word “distinctive” for a reason. It’s incredibly difficult to create a sound that is so immediately recognizable to the ear of ordinary people. Every aspiring guitarist wants “that sound,” meaning a sound so unique that the listener says to himself,” that’s Eddie Van Halen or someone trying to sound like him.”
Again, incredibly difficult to actually pull off. EVH did, big time, whether you were a fan or not.
In case you didn’t know, Eddie Van Halen played guitar on Michael Jackson’s “Beat it.” It’s a song we’ve all heard a million times. Go back and listen. Listen to that guitar solo and how truly sick it is. Pay close attention to his lead guitar and not the rhythm guitar. It’s one of my fav solos of all time. There’s a remastered version of the “Thriller” album from a few years back. You can hear the separation of all the instruments so well. It’s sick!

Again, whether you liked rock guitar or not, EVH had such a distinctive, easily recognizable style. The percentage of guitarists out there that have been able to pull that off is vanishingly small. RIP, man.

I once listened to some long solo he did on some LP that is supposed to be some kind of masterwork, and it seemed sort of sterile and did nothing for me. Don't know the name of that one, but Jump, Jamie's Crying, Ice Cream Man, Hot for Teacher - those are the four song titles I could come think of just now. I hadn't know about the "Beat It" solo, and that is pretty nice. I'm sure he was a great guy, and may he RIP, but it's not like Bowie dying or something.
We were best buds growing up with another family down the street and they had three kids, two boys one girl just like us.

No, Cap'n, I actually agree with you there, only I would also add their late cover of "Atlantic City" with Garth doing a killer nod to the Pogues on the accordion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0eZwpHtcK4
I love "It Makes No Difference." That vocal is so plaintive it's ridiculous. Lyrics are fantastic too.
Since daughter's income was reduced last month, I told her I would pay the internet bill, which is in her name. After an hour and a half on the phone yesterday and getting a gal who sounded like she was in Brazil or Mexico, I decided to mail the bill with a check.
THEN I missed the mail (ours comes very late) and decided I would go pay it at the AT&T store.
BUT, the place where I thought was a store was simply a place to park their service trucks. So no bill paying there.
So, I thought, "Well, I will go to Kroger to get potting soil, cigs, and some wine." My old Kroger used to have a mail box by the office.
No mail box by the office, but the check-out gal told me that she thought there was one out by the pharmacy window. Nope. SO I walked up to the pharmacy window, thinking that they had a drop-off there. Nope. The gal in the pharmacy helpfully told me she thought there was a mail box across the 6-lane highway by the Fed-Ex store. However, when I turned around to look, there was an AT&T store next to the Fed Ex.
So, loaded my groceries, wine, and VODKA because I felt like if the Speaker of the House can have a Bloody Mary, so can I. (Got some Spicy V-8, too.)
Then went over to the AT&T store, where I was informed that they couldn't take a check and would have to go to ANOTHER location which could take checks but was 6 miles southeast of that location and traffic was picking up due to rush hour.
So, I paid her with my card and will void the check and transfer money to the account on which the debit card draws.
THEN, as I was heading home, I realized I hadn't bought cigs because inside Kroger they are behind locked glass doors so I had intended to stop by the gas station, but forgot.
So, stopped by the liquor store, which didn't have my brand, so bought one pack and will have to go out tomorrow.
So I am having a Bloody Mary and don't anyone lecture me about smoking, which I have done since I was 15. That's the way it is.
ALSO, while I was at Kroger (the one I don't usually go to because it's too big and on the busy highway) I saw a Mexican woman with 6 children, none in masks except her and the older two. AND, she was obviously pregnant with her sweat pants pulled down below her obvious bare pregnant belly. Those are her acceptable societal norms, but I don't want Wallace lecturing me on wearing a damn mask!
Jericho's a great song about a mining disaster, whether specifically true or an archetype. Manuel was such an outstanding vocalist; that back and forth between him and Van the man on 4% Pantomime had me spellbound when I heard it.

How does Biden lead in Pennsylvania Polls when he is against Fracking (JOBS!), 2nd Amendment and Religion? Fake Polls. I will win Pennsylvania!
I think last night, Trump fully defined the war we are in. Either you believe the Pandemic is everything, involving everyone, and government is your only option or you believe life goes on and we are in charge of ourselves. I suspect/hope that is what the election comes down to.
BREAKING: Wauwatosa Schools will be going all-virtual for the remainder of the week as officials fear riots in the wake of a charging decision expected tomorrow in the Officer Joseph Mensah case.

I absolutely think the election will come down to that.

In the Skanks Gonna Skank department, Kamala Harris division:
AP reports: "In the text messages to her friend, Guzman Todd told her she was intimate with Cunningham in his home, which she later characterized as 'weird.' In another exchange, Guzman Todd indicated that she was frustrated by the limited attention that he showed her. '“I’m just going to send to his opponent his naked photos,' Guzman Todd wrote. 'That will teach him.' 'You don’t deserve me Cal,' she said in a separate text message. She added in another, 'He knows (that I) can tank his campaign.'"
(Shamelessly lifted from Althouse)
He has shown very poor judgement in the skank he choses to cheat on his wife with, agreed?
I love that video with "Ride of the Valkyrie" as the background music!!
Of course, the lefties think THAT is a "sign" of Trump's Hitlerism.
I am to the point that we should just let these people have the West Coast states, give normal people from those states property here in the Midwest, and erect a wall along the Sierra Nevada and the Rockies.
Amazing stuff here. One of my Facebook friends (mom of a former Girl Scout in my troop) posted this morning that she had a scratchy throat yesterday and she debated whether she should get tested and she did and is positive. But then this afternoon she posted that the doctor called her because they got her test mixed up with someone else’s and she’s actually negative. The health department had already contacted her close contacts, a bunch of people quarantined. What a cluster!
I think the mandatory maskerade is pissing off a lot of voters. My super lib masshole cuz sounds like me these days on government overreach. I have no hope MA goes red but I suspect there’s tons of these types in swing states...

Also, if you own AT&T stock, I would dump it.

I only owned maybe two Van Halen CDs but they were in heavy rotation on ski road trips with my buds. Otherwise, I rarely listened to them.

Jericho's a great song about a mining disaster, whether specifically true or an archetype. Manuel was such an outstanding vocalist; that back and forth between him and Van the man on 4% Pantomime had me spellbound when I heard it.

I think last night, Trump fully defined the war we are in. Either you believe the Pandemic is everything, involving everyone, and government is your only option or you believe life goes on and we are in charge of ourselves. I suspect/hope that is what the election comes down to.

Super cool, made my day. Too bad they took it down so fast. Hopefully they can keep putting them up, guerrilla style. :)

Apropos of nothing, I hit the pool bigly this afternoon. Gorgeous calm, warm autumn day and, now $3 grand later for a new heater, the pool is a delightful 90F. Aaah.
Dinner last evening was very nice (even though my convo with DrJ was ended as my guests showed up), the unclaimed shank was ravenously consumed by the assistant manager of the best restaurant in town who showed up circa 10pm and happily obliged. Much northern Italian wine was consumed and he isn’t skeered of the commie flu like his antecedent guest...
