I've notice that in a lot of the communisty organizer's pro-Biden appearances, he's tried to affect a sort of pseudo-MLK accent.

Jim, You scared me. I momentarily thought it was Duda.

Porchlight

I have to be specific about which Kristofferson? :)

Narciso

Schweickart thinks the barrett pick was key to fortunes in the midwest among suburban women.

Dave (in MA)

My wife's best friend visited this evening. She was an early Trump fan, but gets all of her news from TV over an antenna, so she's become less enamored of him over the past 4 years. I forgot to ask her if she ever heard of Bobulinski. She lives in Boston, so I suppose it makes no difference.

Shirley they cant be serious, thats elections 101.

matt - deplore me if you must

One of my favorites. When I was a kid I hitched a lot, several times across the country. The song meant and means a lot to me. Standing in the rain and under underpasses to get out of the sun; been there, done that.

Busted flat in Baton Rouge, headin' for the trains
Feelin' nearly faded as my jeans
Bobby thumbed a diesel down just before it rained
Took us all the way to New Orleans
I took my harpoon out of my dirty red bandanna
And was blowin' sad while Bobby sang the blues
With them windshield wipers slappin' time and
Bobby clappin' hands we finally sang up every song
That driver knew

Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose
Nothin' ain't worth nothin' but it's free
Feelin' good was easy, Lord, when Bobby sang the blues
And buddy, that was good enough for me
Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee.

From the coalmines of Kentucky to the California sun
Bobby shared the secrets of my soul
Standin' right beside me, Lord, through everythin' I done
Every night she kept me from the cold

Then somewhere near Salinas, Lord, I let her slip away
Lookin' for the home I hope she'll find
And I'd trade all my tomorrows for a single yesterday
Holdin' Bobby's body next to mine

Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose
Nothin' left is all she left for me
Feelin' good was easy, Lord, when Bobby sang the blues
And buddy, that was good enough for me
Good enough for me and Bobby McGee

“Polls released now on the eve of the Election are predictive polls & no longer ‘snapshot in time’ polls.

If @JoeBiden leads by double digits, but @realDonaldTrump somehow ‘wins’ by a point or two, it won’t be the polls that are wrong — the fix will be in.“

“ This seems to be message going out to Dem operatives, including obviously pollsters. Purpose is to delegitimize what they anticipate as a (massive) Trump victory—and establish premise for violence, already normalized by press and DNC officials. This is the legacy of Barack Obama.”

Be locked and loaded Wednesday?

Porchlight

There is also the Kristofferson character in Fantastic Mr. Fox. But it wasn't him. :)

Narciso

That just means theyve been 'toobining' themselves, yes they will use this as the go signal.

Porchlight

The violence will be the media's fault, AB.

I wish we had more ammo.

Porchlight

I am enjoying the cascading copium on that Nate Cohn tweet about the Selzer poll.

Great stuff.

Porchlight

They apparently thought Biden was going to win Iowa.

Captain Hate

he's tried to affect a sort of pseudo-MLK accent.

His Streets the Clown accent? As a few benevolent souls have pointed out before, Gaylord is really a pathetic character. Deserted by both his trash parents he's ended up as well as could be reasonably expected. He still needs to be behind doors that open from the outside, maybe forever.

Porchlight

Tower of Power, "What is hip?"

Mick Gillette of course is a great trumpet player. Back in the day I could do his half-valve slide very well, without the studio shenanigans of course.

Captain Hate

We had three trick or treaters tonight thanks to the leadership of Gretchen DeWine. With God as my witness, starting Wednesday the Dump DeWine campaign begin.

CCGirl

DJT will win by a landslide. It will shut all this crap down. But now we need to fight on the state level. Fight, fight, fight. In Mass it’s very frustrating, but in other states, you must fight.

DrJ

In Mass it’s very frustrating, but in other states, you must fight.

In CA? Surely you jest. The county races are important though.

lyle

I’m out. Cioppino and toasted sourdough bread with a ‘14 M. Magnien Chambolle-Musigny. The weather in Sun Valley is nothing short of awesome.

lyle

Wow, matt.

Captain Hate

As a lark while waiting for Trick or Treaters to show up, I read The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. It wasn't bad; certainly better than "On the Road" which the book group thoroughly trashed with no prodding from me.

CCGirl

Fair enough - CA is just as messed up as Mass!

Past is Prologue

Thanks, Matt, love those lyrics. My kids remember us playing it on road trips (Joplin's cover). We knew nothing of her real-life story, just her sound.

President-Elect Jim,SunnyvaleCA

Regarding CA, there could be a Dem scare.
Recall that 2016 was a weird year. PDJT was controversial and plenty of people wound up voting Egg McMuffin, the Libertarian (Gary Johnson?) or sitting home.
As I recall there were 2 Dems fighting it out for Senate and no Repub, which depressed turnout too.

Fast forward to 2020. PDJT is solid and heartily loved by the base. He'll get all the Repub votes this time. No Senate race to distract and depress Repubs. And quality of life in CA has become obviously worse:
endless economic shutdown
"distance" learning
smoke in the air
power outages
homeless camps that sprout and spread
businesses failing or moving out of state
Prop 16 "remove 'no race based decisions' by the state gov't" from the state constitution
Prop 15 Remove half of the famous Prop13 property tax protections

There are plenty of blind, out of touch Dems. But there are plenty of alarmed people too.

Even without this being a wave election, you could predict a MUCH better result for Repubs than 2016. With all the other stuff there's a chance of putting a big scare into them

Maybe that's a dream ... maybe the ginned-up Trump hatred has been successful. We'll see.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Had Trunk or Treat at our church this evening.
Lots of people, very few with masks, except for the little ghouls and batpunks of course.

I used to hitchhike between Hyattsville and Laurel when I went to DeMatha and would have detention, almost always because of some other fuckhead in my class. It was too bad I lived so far away because otherwise I'd have gone out for the basketball team. I'd have never made it beyond the first cut but going through the drills Morgan Wootten set up my fundamentals would've been a lot better.

When I was going there everyone on the varsity, no matter how deep in the depth chart, got a kollidge scholarship. One day in the dorm I was watching a Virginia Tech game on some cheesy UHF station and I went "holy fuck, there's my classmate Wayne Lockett". Wayne was a good guy but his talent level wasn't off the charts. So you never know...

CCGirl

Yes, Dave! How many like-minded people do you meet in MA? I am so done with the bs. I don’t care if it impacts my business. I am done. I will not bring it up, but I will now engage those customers who do. I am so done.

Porchlight

Nate Silver is having a little trouble dealing with the Selzer poll too.

https://thedonald.win/p/11PWCUkl8K/nate-silver-has-finally-snapped-/c/

jimmyk

Regarding CA, there could be a Dem scare.

JimSC, I don't expect Trump to take California, but if he comes within even a million votes it will be huge, since I think he lost by 4 million in '16. I put money down on Trump winning the popular vote (4-1 odds), so every vote counts!

CCGirl

Also, my mother took me to see “The Rose” when I was maybe 12. She laughed throughout the movie, and I was just a bit confused. But I did enjoy the music!

Porchlight

Dave, send her Clarice's link at 10:50. It's a doozy.

Hunter had Clinton phone numbers as well as those of USSS officers and almost the entire Obama cabinet on the laptop.

Past is Prologue

Yes, 2016 seemed uncertain for the Republican base, especially in CA.

But, for those Democrats who couldn't stomach Hilary there was Jill Stein--or even Gary Johnson. Those two had national recognition. This time, it's binary and Democrats don't have options. Will they settle for Old Joe?

Dave (in MA)

ccgirl, pretty close to zero, though my neighbor down the street posted a pic of her kid decked out in his costume and her father in law was sitting there with a KAG hat next to him.

CCGirl

Dave, I don’t get the level of blindness here.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Here is pretty much everything wrong with progs in a nutshell;
Stupid dame in an SUV driving along with Biden's bus purposely straddles a lane and hits a Trump pickup.
Then posts pictures of her car claiming it was all the Trump guy's fault. Of course there are numerous videos of exactly what the dumb broad did, but still she and her creepy whiny cheerleaders expect others to ignore videoed reality and credit her lies.
Unreal. But all too common.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

I think the general dysfunction in CA and MA are comparable but CA has vast areas that are dominated by the GOP. We're just overpowered by the large populations of LA and the Bay Area.

CCGirl

That’s good Dave. I am out. Dead tired. MAGA

Narciso

You need 55 gallons drums of the seltzer.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Another example of how warped progs are, so much so that they can't even see they're indicting themselves;
They post pictures of ISIS caravans of pickups with ISIS flags and terrorists in back and then juxtapose them to American pickups with American flags and no terrorists in the back or the front and claim they see no difference.
So to progs, the Stars and Stripes is equivalent to the flag of a murderous Islamic cult.
Good to know.

I have to say, I am so ready for the election to be over. I don’t have the confidence/faith that many of us here, mainly because I live in a prog bubble and I can’t throw a rock without being bombarded with the lies and crap.

But I am also really just tired of trying to read goat entrails and tea leaves and omens in the clouds and guess which supposedly inside info really is inside info and which of it is wishcasting or deliberate disinformation. I have a lot of trouble with uncertainty.

hoyden

I've had many life lessons dealing with uncertainty and unknowns. I've had to learn to trust God. There are no other viable options. Regardless of how the future turns I will turn to the faith that has sustained me this far. I'm not changing horses in midstream.

DrJ

I have to say, I am so ready for the election to be over.

Someone already posted this classic poll pattern.
AZ, Dem is leading, Dem, Dem, Dem, Dem, then two days before the election, the Repub has a slight lead.

Old Lurker

James, I feel your pain.

Look at Tuesday like a heart transplant.

The existing heart is by all accounts down to its last few beats. A new donor heart is rushed over and it will either work or it will not work.

If it does not work, the patient dies before the day ends. The story ends.

If it does work, the patient lives to see more days and to deal with whatever life throws at him. The story continues.

So the only branch of the tree which removes your uncertainty is to have the heart not work. The other branch leads to more branches and then to more branches.

Such is life.

hrtshpdbox

did you happen to notice that Eric Cantor's contact info was on that list? Also Mcconnell.

Old Lurker

To the discussion I had with Jimmy about final week polling, there is a story on Bongino about 90M votes already being cast...65% of all votes cast in 2016. While the remaining 35% plus new voters is nothing to sneeze at, it sure does take the bang out of the traditional Single Day Voting, last minute waves, October Surprises and so much more of what the races used to be.

Regardless of the outcome, this notion of an election season is going to change how candidates have to handle their marketing in the future. Unless 2020 is a one off.

I did see that, Robin. But the list looked somewhat generic to me and Cantor/McConnell would have been Majority Leaders at the time it was created. It looks like it could have been Joe's list, actually - top Dems in DC plus the top 2 Republicans.
