Trump War Room - Text TRUMP to 88022@TrumpWarRoom After Walter Reed doctors said President Trump is improving, a reporter was caught on a hot mic laughing and saying “That wasn’t as fun as yesterday!”
Wonder if the 4chans are running voiceprint analysis yet.
I think we have a pretty clear picture of what's going on. Trump is likely to recover, but this is a moderate to severe case of Woo Floo.
I don't know what Trump's ride was intended to convey, but to me the ride indicated the severity of Trump's Woo Floo. The ride was a controlled ride, and Trump stayed in the vehicle, as opposed to stepping out and making remarks. If it was intended to impress Putin and Xi and Kim's sister, I doubt it had much impact on them.
Re the substantial likelihood that Biden inside his bubble is less capable of carrying on necessary POTUS activities than Trump with Woo Floo and post-Woo Floo: It doesn't matter. We are receiving a painful lesson in the power of Oligarch Media to shape perceptions.
TC, they're going nuts about how he endangered everyone by just riding in the limo. I very much doubt that remarks outside would have been on the cards, regardless of severity.
If he had a moderate to severe case they wouldn't have let him outside the WR presidential suite.
They'll go nuts whatever Trump does, Porchlight. In terms of risk, wouldn't Trump making remarks just outside the hospital have been marginally less risky to others if Trump could have done it? When I say a "severe" case, I don't mean a death's doorstep case. Trump being in the hospital, even for a few days, in a close election, indicates severity to me.
In any event, Trump is back to his usual -7 to -8 overall approve disapprove, and low two figures strongly disapprove, in Raz tracking. This was after several days of low fifties and almost even on the strong factor. It seems to me that of all the events over the last two weeks, Trump's nomination of Barrett and Biden staying on his feet at the debate and shamelessly lying have been the biggest plus factors for Biden.
I think that the biggest negative factor was Trump's nomination of Barrett. That doesn't mean it was a mistake, because Barrett could have a more significant long term impact than a Biden POTUSey.
From 9/28, Trump almost to 8000, Biden just passed 2000. They added a third "poop" cookie that has apparently done as well as Trump but whatever, as long as they're not voting Biden.
Dave (in MA) and Porchlight, this election is more likely to be decided by stuffed ballots (mail in and otherwise), than who likes whose pizza boxes or chocolates!
Those are both great articles, which I will pass along!
I'm still looking for an article establishing that asymptomatic people are not spreaders, which I believe a number of people here have mentioned.
There's also another more recent article which I believe asserted that COVID 19 does not actually aerosolize. I may be wrong about this one, but I was sure I had heard that surprising update.
When I say a "severe" case, I don't mean a death's doorstep case. Trump being in the hospital, even for a few days, in a close election, indicates severity to me.
I guess I don't understand what you're basing it on, TC. He rides in the limo but doesn't get out, therefore his case is moderate to severe? But if he had gotten out it meant his case was mild? That's Groundhog Day stuff.
Getting out of the limo would have required a good deal more protection from Secret Service etc. This was fairly spontaneous (as Presidential appearances go) and could be done quickly.
It seems pretty straightforward to me - leaving WR for any reason prior to discharge means it's not a severe case.
Also, this isn't "hospitalization" the way you and I would be hospitalized. Walter Reed has a Presidential suite that includes an office. It is a secure facility. He can be monitored round the clock, receive treatment, and still be active and get work done. In addition, his removal from the WH removes pressure from staff there. It's not comparable to regular people being hospitalized.

Particles of the virus can become airborne, but to my knowledge not in quantities that can result in infection. I thought they had been saying this pretty much all along (freaked out Karen gossip notwithstanding).
I think that the biggest negative factor was Trump's nomination of Barrett.
I don't see how Trump's nomination of Barrett could be a genuine negative for him. She comes off very well to all but the reflexive #OrangeManBad crowd. But then, I don't pay much attention to polls anyway, at least until the last couple weeks before the election, and even then it's more a matter of the change then the level. In 2016 Trump was almost always 5-7 points behind Hillary, and that narrowed to 3-4 points in the last few days before the election. Not that the popular vote matters, but it signaled a shift that probably gave him the swing states.
Dave (in MA) and Porchlight, this election is more likely to be decided by stuffed ballots (mail in and otherwise), than who likes whose pizza boxes or chocolates!
That's the CW. I'm not saying it's not a concern but just compare it to the number of times you heard about "a contested convention" in 2016 and 2020 that never materialized.
If Trump wins big enough in November, they won't be able to steal it.
Are they saying that riding in a closed vehicle (whether it has a self-contained air system or not) is somehow endangering people gathered on the sidewalk?
Clearly, the President does not have a severe case or he would not be speaking from Walter Reed in a suit and white shirt.
Of course I am skeptical, since if that were the case it would have spread like wildfire in grocery stores, pharmacies, etc. that have been open throughout. I think the claim may have been based on hospital rooms with COVID patients.
"Particles of the virus can become airborne, but to my knowledge not in quantities that can result in infection."
I've been challenged to produce a link for that, and I'm pretty sure someone at JOM posted one about the aerosols, or lack thereof. I just can't remember who, or exactly when, but I think it was not terribly long ago.

I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6:30 P.M. Feeling really good! Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!
Whi;e I have been cleaning, I listened to this podcast, which if you can tolerate some cussing, is both funny and encouraging. Dilley is a real Trump supporter.

The CDC put up something on their website saying it did aerosolize, but quickly took it down. However, I don't believe by taking it down they were confirming it doesn't aerosolize. Perhaps that's what you're thinking of.
This story brought a tear to my eye. I’ve always respected Jack Nicklaus, but this project truly cements him as a patriot. I love golf and I will definitely put this course on my “must play” bucket list. Whether you love the game of golf or hate it, this man is a legend!
The course has five sets of tees and plays at a maximum yardage of 7,213. The number 13 is prominent throughout American Dunes because it signifies the number of folds in an American flag that is presented to the family of a deceased service member. Every day at 1 p.m., which is 1300 hours in military time, golf will pause on the course. “We will play ‘Taps’ and we will have a bell that tolls 13 times that will be heard all across the golf course,” Rooney said. “And that signifies the 13 folds that bring the flag to its triangle shape, the ultimate symbol of freedom in this country. And we will pause for 2 ½ minutes every day at this golf course, American Dunes, to remember the fact that freedom isn’t free.”
Annual profits from the course will benefit Folds of Honor.

Clearly, the President does not have a severe case or he would not be speaking from Walter Reed in a suit and white shirt.
I'd like to believe that, but I don't. Very sick people can wear suits. I'm not saying Trump was very sick, and certainly hope he wasn't, but the fact that he could put on a suit and deliver a short message doesn't prove much.
This fellow is not a doctor, just an intelligent amateur of perhaps cathyf level. But he follows Covid and most major stories get discussed. https://spinstrangenesscharm.wordpress.com/
I am most disappointed at the Fact-Free LUNACY of so many people I know and am, and have been for years, friends with.
Same here. One of my lamb shanks/Barolo dinner guests for tonight just cancelled on account of the commie flu: “We’re in another surge, the ICU is filling up, lots of asymptomatic people walking around.” But get this—he’s already had it back in June. I guess the SECOND time you get it, it is WORSE! LUNACY, indeed.
So I’ve got a spare shank if someone wants to come over. 😉
Months ago I wrote in my column that I did not believe asymptomatic people in normal social situations had sufficient viral load to transmit Covid. (Of course people in close contact in closed rooms may be different.) Glenn Reynolds questioned that on Instapundit, but I think in recent weeks he linked to studies saying just that. JMH, you may want to check his archive.
jimmyk, I think the only study or studies that showed possibility infection via airborne particles were in situations with very closed environments with recycled air.
And, since those environments were nursing homes...with patients in close proximity....and lots of virus on surfaces - and staff who may or may not have been infected - how do they know?
There are people we know who think "airborne" means I can get it on a walk alone with my dog if I don't have a mask on.
The typical method of spread is close contact in an enclosed area with someone symptomatic for at least 15 minutes to gain a sufficient viral load..
The idea aerosol transmission is a risk to anyone outside a healthcare setting where they're intubating someone is idiotic.
It's the same idiocy that conflates N95 use in strict protocol health care settings as telling us anything meaningful about wearing a two week old cloth mask improperly in a Piggly Wiggly.
Or combines the efficacy of masks used in public with mask use in households.
One of the main two "studies" used to inflict masks on us by Fauci and company was of the kind just mentioned while the other was the completely sciency event of a couple of symptomatic hairdessers wearing masks and none of their ~130 clients all of whom wore masks getting sick. For all we know all of their clients could have gone maskless and not gotten sick whatsoever.
I was showing a very large building today. There were 5 people in the group. I was wearing a mask.
One of the dudes had been eating garlic. I can't imagine how bad his breath would be without that mask.
And to be clear, when the docs say 'asymptomatic' they don't just mean someone who has no symptoms. They mean someone who does not go on to develop symptoms. That is different than someone who is presymptomatic, who can for a short time be apparently pretty contagious if they have a large viral load.
But even they typically need to have close contact for a prolonged time with someone to pass it on.
Ig "One of the main two "studies" used to inflict masks on us by Fauci and company was..."
I think you overlook all the experiences of other societies throughout history which found ways to mark their members in good standing or those in bad standing. Usually the Mark is on The Other, but to be clever the mask marks the Home Team this time.
GUS, I went to a supermarket a few weeks ago, and on the way thru the parking lot there was a strong smell of garbage. I went into the store and still smelled it, but I went down a few aisle to find what I went for and could still smell it. Nobody was around, so I took it off and the smell went away. I flapped it around and put it back on and didn't smell it anymore. I guess maybe a dumpster or garbage truck had leaded outside and the smell stuck inside my mask for a while.
One question was. Doctor Conley, we'd like to send a transcript of this pretend press conference to MISS MARPLE in Indianapolis.
Can you forward one on your TWITTER feed????
That American Dunes course is less than 2 hours north of me. I’ll definitely consider the trip next fall. I’ll hope for an 1100 tee time so I can be at the turn for the ceremonies.
Yesterday I found a mask in hubby's Jeep that he had used all summer. Disgusting. :)
We know many people who have been hair on fire about Covid. At this point, if we haven't been exposed after traveling up and down the east coast twice in less than six months, I'm not too worried.
I was at Five Guys last night in the hometown of Carl Perkins. I was the only person not wearing a mask, although several employees were “half assing” it.
I take that back, there was a guy waiting next to me in some sort of flimsy face shield that would get laughed out of a Harbor Freight discount bin.
Rob Smith 🇺🇸 on Twitter: "Joe Biden: “The reason I was able to stay home during the pandemic is because Black women were able to keep the grocery shelves stocked.” My GOD. https://t.co/IzXTVeTGhv" / Twitter
With President Trump at Walter Reed Medical Center, Joe Biden tells a crowd to fantasize about President Trump being delivered a "coup de grâce," or death blow.
The tooth I had pulled got infected (My life in 2020) and the taste in my mouth was absolutely disgusting. That was the only time I was happy to wear a mask so no-one could smell me. Yuk
You know i discovered the villain, in atomic blonde and skyscraper and a bunch of other films roland moller, is a former danish criminal, so hes not really acting.
Seriously. I am very grateful to Miss M.. I have a clearing house to find out what Mister Trump is up to, not mention the morning news. No crap in her twitter links.

Maybe there'll be something of interest for JMH but I don't see "aerosol" being used since mid-July.

" ... while a 1-2 meter “social distance” is useful against larger droplets (which fall to the earth), this does not apply to aerosols (made up of droplets of 5 micron or smaller) which can spread dozens of meters through the air and keep hanging for quite a whole. Your typical cloth or surgical mask will not be very helpful against aerosols either."

Can Biden do that??

From OL last thread:
I am most disappointed at the Fact-Free LUNACY of so many people I know and am, and have been for years, friends with.
Same here. One of my lamb shanks/Barolo dinner guests for tonight just cancelled on account of the commie flu: “We’re in another surge, the ICU is filling up, lots of asymptomatic people walking around.” But get this—he’s already had it back in June. I guess the SECOND time you get it, it is WORSE! LUNACY, indeed.
So I’ve got a spare shank if someone wants to come over. 😉

The press is begging the doctors to say something negative about our president. They just said what a great patient he’s been!

Suffice it to say, I have puhlenty of Barolo as well...😎
Posted by: lyle | October 05, 2020 at 03:27 PM
Dr, did the PRESIDENT receive any phone calls from PUTIN or SATAN while he was in the HOSPITAL.
NO.
Why are you hiding the truth from us Dr.
Posted by: GUS | October 05, 2020 at 03:27 PM
Months ago I wrote in my column that I did not believe asymptomatic people in normal social situations had sufficient viral load to transmit Covid. (Of course people in close contact in closed rooms may be different.) Glenn Reynolds questioned that on Instapundit, but I think in recent weeks he linked to studies saying just that. JMH, you may want to check his archive.

Dr, how many hooded KKK members got to visit DRUMPF yesterday??
Posted by: GUS | October 05, 2020 at 03:35 PM
I feel better than I did 20 years ago!
Trump probably got more hours of sleep per 24 hours since Friday than he has in 20 years.
Posted by: Porchlight | October 05, 2020 at 03:36 PM
Dr. How many pieces of KFC did DRUMPF eat with each meal??? He only liked the WHITE MEAT.....right????
Posted by: GUS | October 05, 2020 at 03:36 PM
jimmyk, I think the only study or studies that showed possibility infection via airborne particles were in situations with very closed environments with recycled air.
And, since those environments were nursing homes...with patients in close proximity....and lots of virus on surfaces - and staff who may or may not have been infected - how do they know?
There are people we know who think "airborne" means I can get it on a walk alone with my dog if I don't have a mask on.
Posted by: Porchlight | October 05, 2020 at 03:39 PM
Anyone still want to take bets on the severity of Trump's case of the ChiCough?
Posted by: Porchlight | October 05, 2020 at 03:39 PM
Posted by: Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki | October 05, 2020 at 03:42 PM
I was showing a very large building today. There were 5 people in the group. I was wearing a mask.
One of the dudes had been eating garlic. I can't imagine how bad his breath would be without that mask.
Posted by: GUS | October 05, 2020 at 03:42 PM
And to be clear, when the docs say 'asymptomatic' they don't just mean someone who has no symptoms. They mean someone who does not go on to develop symptoms. That is different than someone who is presymptomatic, who can for a short time be apparently pretty contagious if they have a large viral load.
But even they typically need to have close contact for a prolonged time with someone to pass it on.

I was at Five Guys last night in the hometown of Carl Perkins. I was the only person not wearing a mask, although several employees were “half assing” it.
I take that back, there was a guy waiting next to me in some sort of flimsy face shield that would get laughed out of a Harbor Freight discount bin.
