The NY Times reports on liberal puzzlement regarding their less-than expected supported among different ethnic groups.
My favorite insight - Asian-Americans in California do NOT favor Affirmative Action! How that could possibly surprise anyone who follows the college admission wars is beyond me, but I've never claimed to be smart enough to be a Dem strategerist.
The Hispanic panic is a but more intriguing:
Latinos, too, appear sharply divided. Prominent Latino nonprofit and civil rights organizations endorsed the affirmative action proposition even as all 14 of California’s majority-Latino counties voted it down.
Latinos make up more than half of San Bernardino County’s population, although significantly fewer turn out to vote. More residents there voted on the affirmative action proposition than for president, rejecting it by a margin of 28 percentage points. In rural Imperial County, in the southeastern corner of the state, 85 percent of the population is Latino. The voters there who gave Joseph R. Biden Jr. a nearly 27-point margin of victory went against the affirmative action measure by 16 percentage points.
I can think of several explanations for the Hispanic revolt but here's one that will never occur to the Times - the Democrats devoted the summer to "Black" Lives Matter, not "Hispanic" Lives Matter. Supporting Affirmative Action when the favored beneficiary is a different group may have struck some Hispanics as an own-goal.
I shouldn't knock this reporting as insight-free:
The results suggest that Democrats may need to adjust their strategy...
"Adjust their strategy"?!? NO WAY! I'd expect them to just scream "Stop Hating, Hater" a bit louder, but OK, that might be too dumb even for them.
How will we tell if we are in the camps or not if Biden locks down everything?

NPR reports he isn't being pushed out. He is not leaving because of a dispute with leadership. He will be replaced apparently by another career lawyer at the Justice Department. But for whatever reason, the Justice Department is losing its Yoda at a time when the Justice Department is under a sustained, pointed aggressive partisan attack from the president of the United States and Republican members of Congres

Trump legal team adds Joe DiGenova and Victoria Toensing in voter fraud probe
Posted by: Threadkiller | November 17, 2020 at 01:39 PM
The problem for the Dems is Trump showed blacks and hispanics that something a great deal better was available than ruling class crumbs that drop off gringo massa's table.
The progs are one set of devils who have made a deal with another set in the billionaire state capitalists/tech overlords. That ruling elite can only ever deliver crumbs to the free shit set but increasingly also the vast middle, the guts of whom, the globalists have carved most of their wealth from by transferring it overseas and financializing the economy through wall street and the Fed.
We are governed now essentially by one of these vulture capital firms which takes a company private, loads it up with unsustainable debt, flies off with its sack of filthy carrion lucre, leaving the working stiffs holding the bag that some Uighur slave labor has sown for them to hold what's left of their lives in.
The state capitalists are happy as they get richer by doing nothing and the progs are happy because they get their cut and they can blame the mess they've made on capitalism.
That has been Wretchard's overarching point lately. Trump is not a flash in the pan but the signal of a large political realignment taking place worldwide as people realize just exactly what kind of deal globalization really means for them and theirs. And that realignment dovetails perfectly with Turchin's notion of a bloated elite ruling class that has overplayed its hand and sewn the seeds of what is coming. Whatever that might be, I'm pretty sure placid will not be one of the words that comes to mind to describe it.
You can look at the left's openly crazy ideas and violence and its blatant power grabs as them consolidating their power and there may be some truth to that. But it seems increasingly likely to me they are the actions of a group that has been getting away with dirty dark deals for a long time and somebody turned the light on and now they're scurrying desperately to keep what they can.
Each passing day brings us closer to which end game it will be.

After allegations emerged that called into questioned the integrity of voting machines produced by Dominion Voting Systems, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)—part of the Department of Homeland Security—issued a statement on Nov. 12 disputing the allegations, saying “the November 3rd election was the most secure in American history.”
What the agency failed to disclose, however, is that Dominion Voting Systems is a member of CISA’s Election Infrastructure Sector Coordinating Council, one of two entities that authored the statement put out by CISA.
In addition, Smartmatic, a separate voting machine company that has been the subject of additional concerns, is also a member.
