Final canvassing shows @JoeBiden won Wisconsin by +20,600 votes over @realDonaldTrump. The president’s campaign has until 5PM today to submit $7.9 million required for a statewide recount. He could also file for a recount in select counties (that would reduce the cost).

Robin, my employer was only now starting to show some cracks in the work-from-home dam. Then the “second wave” hit that were in now in.

Won’t surprise me in the least if we’re still WFH until summer.

The funny thing is they never made the buildings off-limits, and a small percentage of people are going in. I’ve started going in a day or two a week, just to get out of the house.

clarice

When Shingrex first was made available it was hard to get it because supply was insufficient. I think now there's no wait for it. You'll need 2 spaced shots. I'm astonished if your primary care physician didn't not advise you to get it.

Zuul used to ding me about being a batistiano, the problem with him was he was too easy going, he had let in two communists in the 30s. One of whom was the party chair. This is reflected in that andy garcia the lost city, set from 1957 on till the protagonist leaves the country. Two of hix brothers leave one gets killed in the attack on the presidential palace another goes into the mountains. Ventura is the hard man. Who did the unpleasant work.

I had the original shingles shot, but mine said to get shingrex because it was much more efficacious.

MissMarple2

clarice,

If you are talking to me, I didn't have a primary care physician. I had so many specialists (I think I was up to 8) that I didn't bother to get one.

Another reason why no one should get medical advice from me.

Good morning,

CCG and Jane, sorry I didn't get back to you guys last night, I fell asleep. Owen has been seizure free since he started the anti seizure meds. I guess he has to stay on them for two years so fingers crossed he remains this way. I'm watching the boys a couple of days a week while my daughter attends physical therapy for the back surgery she had. Yesterday I watched both of them run up and down the hall, heads back and making a gargling sound as they ran. The older one Bennett, who's three now, saw all three of Owens seizures and it was clear to me that was what Bennett was doing, mocking Owens seizures. I tried to explain why he should stop doing that but he's Dennis the Menace on steroids.

Jane, my daughter was going to call you last week sometime but I asked her not to since you weren't feeling well. The insurance co sent her a 20 page contract for the roof only, according to the adjuster who promised her it wasn't the final estimate, just the roof. Well anyway, my sil insisted they sign it, he's worried about the two roofs, the house roof and a flat rubber roof over a workshop attached to the house, with winter closing in. So the ins co sent them a check which they deposited and thought they were ready for the roofers this coming weekend. But the bank returned the check stating it had to go to their mortgage co first. That's all I know so far.

Narc— if you had neither chicken pox nor measles you should get both the chicken pox vaccine and the measles vaccine. (You’ll probably need to get the MMR even if you had mumps and/or German measles. I think that just the measles vaccine is hard to get.)

The measles vaccine is a live attenuated virus vaccine, so it might actually give you some protection against the CCPv, too.

(I’m dealing with the question of a mumps vaccine. I had measles in 1964, and the German measles vaccine in 1975. I was heavily exposed to mumps twice but didn’t apparently get them. once when the same cousin who gave my brother and I the measles gave him the mumps a few years later, and when I was in the fifth grade my best friend got them. Our desks were arranged so we sat right next to each other — big class so that’s the only way that all the desks would fit in the classroom was in pairs. I spent all day every day up to and including the day she started feeling sick. We always worked under the assumption that I was immune to mumps and didn’t need a vaccine, but now I’m wondering...)

"In case some day there is a bad king and the king comes to hurt us."

For a person interested in facts it also contained pretty convincing evidence, including actual vote numbers, that the claim Biden underperformed everywhere except the four metro areas that gave him his margin of victory in key states is false. That's what the headline said and what most of the article was about and that's why I linked it.

“ But ... "cases"”

I woke up with that annoyance again Jim. It is NOT cases, it’s positive tests, for a test that (at least one flavor of which) is nonsensically oversensitive.

I’ve noticed that “positivity” has become the new hip cool trendy thing to talk about. But that’s also a meaningless number without some characterization of who’s being tested and why. It ain’t a statistical cross section.

I know everyone here knows this, just venting a little...

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

And I'm with TK [If I'm reading him correctly] on the vote fraud business too.
I think Trump has a good shot overturning PA because the courts, SOS or AG and the governor overruled the legislature.
But on the vote switching [which I have little reason to doubt occurred, along with plenty of the usual vote fraud] statistics and affidavits of what someone said or saw are almost certainly not going to cut it. Unless they can prove in black and white how and how many votes were changed, deleted or added and that the numbers would have changed the outcome no court will overturn Biden.

President-Elect Jim,SunnyvaleCA

btw, I went back and clicked on Ig's 10:38 NR link.
It says the claim below is debunked and that Repubs are issuing racist dog whistles.
From the article:

Consider the latest viral claim, from Patrick Basham at Democracy Institute, Matt Vespa at Town Hall, Mike LaChance at Gateway Pundit, and amplified by sources such as Rassmussen Reports, quoting pollster Richard Baris:

How curious that, as Baris notes, “Trump won the largest non-white vote share for a Republican presidential candidate in 60 years. Biden underperformed Hillary Clinton in every major metro area around the country, save for Milwaukee, Detroit, Atlanta and Philadelphia.” Robert Barnes, the foremost election analyst, observes in these “big cities in swing states run by Democrats…the vote even exceeded the number of registered voters.” Trump’s victories in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin were on target until, in the middle of the night, counting was arbitrarily halted. Miraculously, several hundred thousand votes – all for Biden – were mysteriously ‘found’; Trump’s real leads subsequently vanished. (Emphasis added).

The author (Baseball Crank?) says the claim is factually incorrect.
Worth knowing there's a controversy before citing the claim.

So slotkin went along in the end, surprise.

Old Lurker

Narciso

Soylent Red

Its nearly useless to vote, im becoming convinced

As soon as a preponderance of reasonable people decide that their vote doesn't matter, and that they have no political recourse, we start down the path to very bad shit.

Voting is our method of voluntarily ceding political power without violence. We get to have a little non-violent revolution every Election Day.

When that means of ceding power is taken away, or undermined to such a degree that the legitimacy of the affair is questioned (as is the case since about 2016 or before), you tear down one of the structural checks on despotism. People may not revolt violently immediately, but the moral basis for NOT doing that is gone.

Even if you don't have a non-violent means of allocating political power, a moral and benevolent ruling class can (theoretically) maintain natural rights without a means of peaceful transition, or violent correction. We don't have that, QED. That's the second check.

Finally, since power maintains itself through coercion, and that coercion is based on a monopoly on the legitimate use of force, the next necessary step is to disarm the populace. Until you do this, there is a fallback means of contesting political power. That is the final barrier to despotism, and definitely on the slate in any Progressive-controlled government.

Narciso

I was reflecting local races where they voted for additional levies on their tax bill, and our state rep is going all in on the bug.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

One more for the road;
What we went through economically this year was not allowed to function as a recession should. The stock market soared and the pain was not felt by companies that deserved to fail because they were not needed or poorly run. Instead it was artificially inflicted on certain segments of the economy whether poorly or well run and the pain was mitigated through massively distortionary incentives and largesse.
A good argument could be made that the government and Fed intervention largely accomplished the opposite of a recession by preventing the overheated segments of the economy [housing, stocks, etc] to correct themselves and instead to heat up even more.
And this was accomplished with a debt binge unheard of in peacetime.
The net result may be another and this time a real recession in the not too distant future. If it doesn't it will be solely because the Fed will be able to keep the plates spinning a bit longer. But we are embarked on a crazy scheme that has been tried time and time again and that always ends in catastrophe eventually. That the rest of the world is as well is only a positive in that it will probably take our enemies down too.

JohnH

Unless they can prove in black and white how and how many votes were changed, deleted or added and that the numbers would have changed the outcome no court will overturn Biden.

Ig: I think this is perhaps correct, but not a foregone conclusion. I also don't think it is the strategy.

Many have speculated that what Team Trump is trying to accomplish is to call the election process in battleground states into question, for the purpose of having the ENTIRE state's election results thrown out. The goal is not to dispute the ballots one by one. The end game is to get the election to the House, where the vote will be in Trump's favor and on the record. Team Trump is betting on the broad scope evidence being damning enough to either stop state certification or get it overturned.

If the Supremes are called in to make a call, I believe you are correct in what the call will be. Not because there will be no evidence, but because the evidence will not be clearly defined enough. In that case, they will default to the ruling that they think will best protect the perceived integrity of the system, and let the election "results" stand.
