Trump doesn't need to leave and form a third party. That's nuts. He needs to stay and continue transforming the Republican party.

I concur, completely. In addition, I'm not ever going to second-guess Trump's strategies, decisions, performance, or anything else - the guy has done an amazing job as POTUS despite aggregated opposition from bad actors. It's very possible that nobody could have done a better job in these conditions.

Captain Hate

Exactly, box. Trump put it all on the line to try and save the country and now isn't the time for us to whine. We need to put our boots on the necks of the GOP until they submit to our will.

Barbara

I am more offended by how ham fisted, clumsy, and audacious the fraud to elect him is than the idea of Joe Biden being president. I think Joe Biden is a corrupt idiot, however, I think America would survive him like we’ve survived previous idiot administrations. However, what is potentially fatal for America is half the populace believing that their elections are hopelessly rigged and they’re eternally fucked. And now, however this shakes out in court, that’s exactly what half the country is going to think.

People are pissed off, and rightfully so.

"He needs to stay and continue transforming the Republican party"

Fuck the "Republican party". They never wanted Trump and soon as he's not POTUS he's instantly unwelcome.

Could be wrong but doubt it.

My suggestion was not to form a true third party. Maybe others have suggested but I've not seen that myself.

Stay an outsider who controls enough votes to swing races against the deep state. Not that any candidate would be "Trump party" candidates ... could be GOP, Ind, Libertarian, or whatever.

Any time that the means of installing a new government is viewed as illegitimate by 10-30% of the population, the government so installed is no longer functionally legitimate. Re fatal to America if half think the POTUS election was rigged: Far more dangerous would be those who understand this election is rigged accepting the result. How much Irish Democracy am I willing to engage in? I can't honestly say at the moment. What I will say is that confronting this with a posture of calm Stoic determination is my preferred approach. I know it's a small start, but every time someone asks me about my view on the election, whether it be family or friends or work colleagues, I ask them whether they agree with the statement that every legally cast vote should be counted, and every illegally cast vote should be thrown out.

Years ago I read the LBJ book by Caro (a lib by the way.) LBJ stole every election he ever won, including class president in high school, and the Vice Presidency in 1960. Always the same way--be the last guy to find the ballots. There was one time he got screwed because some other corrupt politician scraped up the ballots after his corrupt local boss had puked up his last. Our distinguished bloghost, Andy McCarthy and a lot of gopes want Trump to just say, aww, that's how it's always been done, just move on, yada, yada, but I think a strong case can be made which will impact people in a visceral way how blatant this has been and that it has to stop. I can't believe that someone as dedicated to the law as Amy Comey Barrett, or Sam Alito, or Brett Kavanaugh, or Clarence Thomas can't--if given the facts, require Nevada, Wisconsin, Georgia and Pennsylvania to throw out their results and hold new elections with safeguards in place and make the case to the American public for the need to have election integrity as a cornerstone of our freedoms. I pray that Trump's attorneys are doing their utmost to collect and marshal the facts to make such possible. It's not enough for me to say that Biden or that or that "leftist chameleon chuckelhead" Harris, to quote Conrad Black, will be hampered because they won't have the majority in the Senate. They'll cheat to change that just like they did when they put Franken in over Coleman. Someone has to be the Mr. Smith in Washington. Win or lose, let's die on this hill rather than resign to tyranny and corruption.

Jane

Trump should pardon Rittenhouse (and Flynn if he wants it).

I had to recover from Election Day processing of 3500 people in Rocky River polling site.
We went non-stop the entire day!
So glad Ohio went for President Trump.
The current situation, I find appalling.
We were informed by the Trafalgar guy that The President would have to win by 4 or 5 points in Pennsylvania to combat the fraud.
I want the updated Arizona results immediately as I believe that was incorrectly called by Fox.
He is winning in North Carolina which is why they delayed counting.
I am glad there will be a recount in Georgia.
As to Michigan and Wisconsin, those ballots brought in at 3:00 am are where the fraud is.
If you don’t have a scanner or a computerized entry device to scan your driver’s license then you just can take a blank ballot and fill it in.
Ballots are locked in cases with tabs on them not rolled in on a dolly.
Jane:
Sorry about your eye.
Will keep praying for strength in your other eye.
Gentlejim: Sorry about your job. You are a valuable person and I hope you find clarity among the cactus.
Let’s keep the faith and wait for all this to play out.
Turley on Fox just said Biden may reach 270 but will he be able to keep it.
Pennsylvania votes after Election Day are going to be struck down and will hand that state to President Trump.
Nevada had originally 9000 votes for Biden, then when Repubs said they found 10000 in bad votes, today he leads by 20000. Sounds fishy to me.

GJim: "My guess is we’ll keep seeing LEOs walking away from the job while they can"

In the back of my mind, I wonder if you were "outed" as being complicit in wrong-think and that that was a factor in the job decision ... esp if you were recommended by the outgoing chief, and have heard nothing from the bosses or the new incoming guy who is known to you personally. The lack of communication feels odd though of course maybe they just always handle it that way.

I would not lawyer-up, but I would stay alert for evidence one way or the other.

And sometimes there are opportunities where you can go in and ask: "Could you give some guidance of where I fell short? It would help me consider what areas I should strengthen for the future" or some such.
Is their answer openhearted and truthful? Do they refuse to speak and look at the ground? Do they say something that is neutral in words but angry/accusing in body language?
The normal human reaction would be sympathy to the person, even if you can't be open due to policy (or fear of reaction since you're packing LOL). If there is pent-up hostility, that would be unexpected.

I’ve been in the “wrong think” category for 8-9 years, which is when the Progs took over local government. There’s been a little pushback by the locals recently, but not much. Lawyering up won’t happen if it does until they complete their “act” and swear in the new Chief. As far as discussions with decision makers goes, I’ll be sitting down with one Council member after I return from AZ. I’ll go in with an open mind, but am not confident since he has shown himself to be ethically questionable. I’ll see how it goes. Documentation has been going on and continues. Good thing is I have a sympathetic Clerk and Deputy Clerk. Worst thing is that I love the job and people, but I don’t like the shit sammich taste I have in my mouth currently.

Davod--Unlike its system for many years, Georgia now has paper ballots that are supposed to be proof of electronic voting. It is no longer all computerized. We will see if that matters in a recount. I find living in the heart of Fraud Central to be very disheartening.

I did always wonder how the last 2 ATL mayors, Bottoms and the corrupt reed before that, somehow magically beat mary norwood both times in the runoff by less than 1000 votes. IIRC it was about 700 votes both times out of hundreds of thousands cast. (I am not in city limits, but I can walk to them easily).

Norwood was quite progressive as I have heard her speak at prog forums, but apparently has insufficient melanin for city hall's operators.

Is there a method to detect, prove and prevent the urban center cheating machines the Dems have? If ballot harvesting and other quasi legal methods are going to remain on the books in Dem states then Reps need to play the game. Other than infiltrating long term moles into Dem machines I'm not sure how to end the cheating when it's Dem foxes guarding the henhouse where all the votes are hatched.

How do we know that they didn't?

Old Lurker

The election was stolen from Trump.

Soros, Obama, Holder et al had four years to prepare and they pulled it off.

Apparently.

Trump might get it back with some rabbit from some hat with some lawyers and some judges. Perhaps the Easter Bunny is real.

Or not.

Or he might not even be trying to find the rabbit whatever you think he says he is doing. He might simply be negotiating the terms of the peace, including what will happen to him, his family, and his empire. That might be no more than reiterating the understanding that allowed all the known criminals to avoid justice, and for the Clintons, Obamas, Bidens and all the princes to keep the loot they stole.

None of us know nuthin.

But those are the branches of the tree.

The hatred the enemedia has created against DJT, including in my family, is the biggest crime. I'm going to tell my oldest daughter, the one I can still talk with about these things, that I'm very disappointed in how she's let herself be blinded by the propagandists on state radio despite my warnings about it. I'm likewise going to tell her that Trump is in essence me with more money and willingness to put everything on the line for the country, and when she hates him she hates me.

Rocco

Local update on family:

1. Dem sister confined to her house with Covid is very upset that the country is so mean and divided about this election. So, I tried very hard to agree and be cordial without pointing out WHO was mean, so that she can see what side is acting like nutcases.

2. Daughter still thinks GOP is evil and dems are the better party.

3. Dem sister thinks Americans will be brought down by their greed. I also think this is true, but that greed isn't limited to a few people. I reminded her of the Chinese alterations people at Brylane and she talked about the Indian guy who supervised the Indian people in alterations at Brooks Brothers, who yelled at them in Hindi and treated them like slaves.

She didn't know about the Madame Alexander clothing being sewn in Harlem until it got sent to China, and they used to sell those dolls at Brooks Brothers as Christmas gifts.
Another bullet point for her to ponder on.

I am in lock-down now until 3PM when daughter's phone duty ends. I may go do some more sorting so that I finish getting something accomplished.

Captain Hate

If anyone can, find a way to work for yourself, so it’s your rules, your ethics and your money!

This is true. I consider myself second rate compared to my father because he had his own business that he built from scratch. I'm sure he had many moments of doubt about whether things would all apart but he worked hard and smart to make sure that didn't happen.

The closest I came to that was working for consulting firms who pretty much left me alone to work with clients where I was judged strictly for my ability to get the job done. I hated corporate culture, even when I was well compensated, and was chafed by it constantly.

Robin, eff 'em all

I don't know when it will happen because I'd rather do it face to face and who knows when that opportunity will arise. If we do it by phone I'll have to figure out a time when the grandchildren won't interrupt.
