I think Team Obama simply dared to put to the test what some of us have long suspected - that a big chunk of the GOP doesn't believe half of the shit that they shovel to the rubes, but a politician's gotta' do what a politician's gotta' do.
In hindsight, it was obvious. A political party that believes in individual liberty and smaller government doesn't build the Dept of Homeland Security. That party won't expand the surveillance state or support an agreement like Five Eyes.

Sidney said something that caught my attention on Dobbs last night. "It's almost like they wanted to get caught; maybe it's a diversion from something else. I don't know." That was unsettling to say the least.
Cashill concludes an earlier article with this:
The likely large-scale fraud of 2020 calls way too much attention to itself. If the data I am looking at are correct, there are people on the hard left who may want to get caught. For them, a Biden win overturned by the Supreme Court would offer a whole lot more opportunity for mayhem than they could hope to find with a faltering old liberal as president.
Mistakes were made but not by Trump. He has fought for us and I am sure he wonders where the back up is. So many did come to the fore, it hurts what is going on. He is a fighter and we need a fighter. We have to stand with him and stand up for ourselves. The truth most come out here. This guy delivered in every way but somehow he lost according to our betters. This guy was no Carter or Bush. He delivered but somehow we are in this situation. There is a lot of blame to go around but it isn't the Trump voters. Basic fairness has to win out or we are in a lot of trouble.
I don't know if Trump was right to go after the media so hard. But he was right about them, he was proven to be right all along.

My dad got audited on his taxes (he owned a furnace repair and sheet metal shop) and had to go downtown to the Federal Building with a huge stack of papers.
As it turned out, after wasting a day downtown plus a couple days digging up records (this was back in the 50's), he didn't owe the feds one red cent.
So the IRS guy leans back in his chair, puts his feet up on the desk, grins, and tells my dad to keep it, they will get it next year. I can still hear my dad telling my mom, "Rosie, it's a good thing I didn't take Uncle Pete's Colt with me downtown."

Assessment of whether Flynn is in a "covert

There is always a risk in sharing something personal because of the chance of ridicule should one’s deepest secret not seem so important to anyone else. Plus the possibility of rejection should another attempt to emulate that secret with disastrous results. But.. I am amongst dear friends so here goes.
You will need Costco pre cooked Tamales, Lawry’s garlic salt, olive oil, 2 eggs, fresh ground pepper, shredded cheddar/jack cheese, 1 teaspoon water, Pico Pica hot sauce and sour cream.
The tamales come in either chicken, pork, or beef. The recipe works the same.
Spray a frying pan with non-stick whatever.
Lightly sprinkle garlic salt in pan and set the stove to high.
Salt will slightly brown at which point you add the tamale. Chop and stir fry the tamale for about 60-90 seconds until you see the slightest browning.
Turn stove temp to medium.
Move the chopped tamale to the center of the pan and create a slight depression in it. Drizzle a small amount of olive oil in depression and crack both eggs into the depression.
The whites should flow through the tamale and the yolks should stay put.
When the thinnest parts of the whites look cooked(not burned) break both yolks and lightly scramble the whole mess.
Return the mess to the center of the pan and pepper to taste.
Add shredded cheese to the top of the mess.
Have the frying pan lid ready and add water to create steam. Slam the cover down so the trapped steam melts the cheese thoroughly.
Wait patiently for 30-60 seconds depending on how cooked you want this mess.
Remove from pan and add sour cream and hot sauce to taste.
I came up with this several weeks ago and have made it quite a few times since then. I have not been disappointed.
Thank you for letting me share this.

US Lawmakers Reach Deal on Outline for Annual Spending Bill
Republican and Democratic lawmakers have reached an agreement on spending levels for the annual spending bill needed to keep the government open after current funding runs out Dec. 11, according to two congressional aides in both parties.
My SIL waited on an opinionated customer the other day. The customer, who we have know for years, began yapping about how embarrassed she is that Trump won’t concede, and all that blather. (I hid behind my work computer as I was about to blow my stack). SIL, calmly asked her why it was a problem. All the customer could say was that it’s embarrassing. SIL stated that she thought there were “shenanigans” on election night, and that at least 50% of the country is very upset about it. We should have a clear picture of what happened before we name a winner.
I don’t know what else one can say to these people. And I don’t think it’s crazy talk to say that. If someone thinks you are crazy for stating that, then they are the crazy one.
CH, if there's something happening newsworthy and I just have to see coverage of it somewhere, I'm turning on Newsmax. I don't feel there's a better choice to protect my fragile sensibilities these days.
Newsmax posted an article the other day, and about half way through it the reporter wrote that Trump was refusing to concede, even though he lost. I was pissed off, because the front page stated that Newsmax had not declared the winner yet. I’m tired of opining reporters, and so have stopped reading most of the articles there. I don’t recall which article or the reporter’s name, but there were lots of angry comments.
I posted the information on Fatso. Here is the link in case anyone else wants to watch it. It is divided into 6 separate videos but you just click on the next one after about 15 minutes.
clarice - My take is that having to listen to the depth of corruption that has gone on would probably push most of us to the edge. I'm sure Sidney Powell is consumed with one horrible revelation after another day after day. I'm praying for her.
The thing about progs its always projection, their long running teleplay scandal had a long running arc about elections fixed by electronic voting machines, that had some grand guignol twists.
--I don’t know what else one can say to these people. And I don’t think it’s crazy talk to say that. If someone thinks you are crazy for stating that, then they are the crazy one.--
One of the appeals of an ideology is it makes each adherent the ultimate authority. When you believe you are in receipt of a collective received wisdom then your every word is from on high. What can an ignorant mere mendicant or oaf tell an aristocrat or high priest?
I'm just kidding, ccgirl; although I might say something like that if properly annoyed, I wouldn't recommend it to others. Especially not if customers are involved - I managed to hold my tongue or just argue good-naturedly with customers when I was working.
Yes, I am pretty sure they all think we are very helpful and nice, and that’s why they put up with us. I have waited on many customers who most definitely make it clear that they think I am their servant.
The customers who I know are Trumpers usually just lock eyes with me, and let out a long sigh.

An interesting comment on the recent mask study. As you may recall the study found they gave little protection. Abadman noted that there was a small amount of protection and we had a discussion about whether it was real or outside the margin of error. https://spinstrangenesscharm.wordpress.com/2020/11/23/covid19-update-november-23-oxford-astrazeneca-vaccine-results-danish-study-on-mask-effectiveness-sweden-abandons-sonderweg/
He quotes an article from Spectator:
“[Despite the Danish study] there have been various observational studies that showed mask wearing to be somewhat effective.[…]My hypothesis is that volunteer mask wearers and healthcare workers (which are two of the prior studies) will tend to also follow other hygiene steps like washing hands. This sort of thing is exactly what those forced to wear a mask in a pandemic don’t do. In other words[,] voluntary mask wearing absent a pandemic is in fact an accurate signal of healthy hygienic behavior, whereas enforced mask wearing is just virtue signaling with no effect whatsoever ...”
In other words, if Amom wears a mask you dang-betcha that the mask will make a difference. If "Karen" on NextDoor extols mask-wearing ... not so much.
I wish I could find my mom's pumpkin pie recipe. Unlike all of the ones I have tried or have seen in bakeries, the pumpkin filling was dark brown, not orange. I have no idea what she used as spices that produced that color, but the pies were very flavorful and my 3 sisters are as mystified as I am.
This idea that "authorities" have the right to tell us how to behave in even the smallest, normally average behavior, has been building for some time.
William Shatner (Captain Kird of Star Trek fame) wrote a column on it back in 2018, only it was more about rabid fans, but it's sort of the same type of behavior. He called it the "Veruca Salt" syndrome (from the movie "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory").

I usually tell them they're stupid, they don't know anything, and they should shut up. Is that so wrong?

CH, if there's something happening newsworthy and I just have to see coverage of it somewhere, I'm turning on Newsmax. I don't feel there's a better choice to protect my fragile sensibilities these days.
Posted by: hrtshpdbox | November 25, 2020 at 10:51 AM
Newsmax posted an article the other day, and about half way through it the reporter wrote that Trump was refusing to concede, even though he lost. I was pissed off, because the front page stated that Newsmax had not declared the winner yet. I’m tired of opining reporters, and so have stopped reading most of the articles there. I don’t recall which article or the reporter’s name, but there were lots of angry comments.

The customers who I know are Trumpers usually just lock eyes with me, and let out a long sigh.

I tend to read this blog every week or so.

Buckeye,
I wish I could find my mom's pumpkin pie recipe. Unlike all of the ones I have tried or have seen in bakeries, the pumpkin filling was dark brown, not orange. I have no idea what she used as spices that produced that color, but the pies were very flavorful and my 3 sisters are as mystified as I am.

Try a local Mexican grocer for tamales. They should have some made fresh.

James D.,
This idea that "authorities" have the right to tell us how to behave in even the smallest, normally average behavior, has been building for some time.
William Shatner (Captain Kird of Star Trek fame) wrote a column on it back in 2018, only it was more about rabid fans, but it's sort of the same type of behavior. He called it the "Veruca Salt" syndrome (from the movie "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory").

think of it as conspiracy realism ... i'm willing to believe pretty much anything at this point.
-the cia used dominion to throw the election to favored candidates
-chinese sweat shops printed out hundreds of thousands of ballots
-dems in the big cities xeroxed hundreds of thousands more at the local kinkos
the dems would win either way: we accept the big lie and big steal and it is all over or they have convinced half the country the election was stolen and for the next four years we get the portland treatment all across the us.
