Two Republicans initially voted AGAINST certifying the controversial election tallies in Wayne County, Michigan. This would have kept Detroit-area votes off the board and created a narrow pathway to a Trump victory in MI. Wild, right?
Under enormous pressure (presumably including death threats) they switched their votes a few hours later, certifying the results and kicking the problem up to the state level. System working? Not so fast!
A day later they rescinded their reversal, or tried to. It appears they aren't legally entitled to a do-over here, but that is why we have courts and under-employed lawyers.
Whatever. Flipping Michigan will not, by itself, take the election back from Biden. But a few more hats, a few more rabbits, and who can say? As long as Trumps lawyers think they'll get paid this show will go on.
Rudy lo-oks like he’s dripping blood. Okay, who shot him.

Willowed:
I have held this theory for some time:
1. Most of the public polls published prior to the election are bogus, publicized mostly to make a democrat win seem plausible.
2. Most African-American voters are assumed by the press to be Democrats (or at least , in order to make a Democrat win believable, ASSIGNED a Democrat party identity).
3. When Trump got the nomination in 2016, the Democrats still didn't understand how popular he was in the African-American community. (Due to my knowledge of music videos from my son's early obsession with MTV and my watching of 1980's kids movies such as Home Alone or TV shows such as Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, I was aware of how much he was in demand for cameo rolls, so I was WELL aware of this, which is why I thought he would be a good GOP candidate.)
4. The African-American vote in big cities may not actually BE heavily Democrat. It may be that the concentration of African-Americans in bis cities simply provides the excuse for the press to report a dem win, without having to provide an explanation.
5. Dominion/Smartmatic was simply a way to speed up and make this illegality more convenient, with the Corona virus muddying up the reason for the purchase or rental of these machines, as this press conference is demonstrating. The actual reason was to GUARANTEE a win for an insider (usually a Democrat although in many cases a compromised Republican) who had paid the most bribe money.

If I understood Rudy correctly the Trump campaign can't file federal lawsuits until a state's outcome is certified. It's why he said there is no federal lawsuit for Wisconsin yet because if Wisconsin follows their own state law and invalidates illegal ballots then Trump will win Wisconsin.

I won’t bring over my reply in the last thread. TLDR. :-)
I agree the study demonstrated masks are not an effective control measure.
I do not believe the study proved masks have no effect on transmission
Both these statements can be true
A person with a 1 in 20 risk of dying and a person with a 1 in 1000 chance of dying might have different opinions on the threshold of a meaningful effect on transmission
I don’t agree with mask mandates, but I also do not believe wearing a mask is unreasonable, except when driving a car alone.

I was at Sacramento last Saturday, there was a stage, professional sound system, speakers, and I'd guess somewhere from 500 to 1,000 people (it was pretty spread out, hard to gauge).
Perhaps 20 Antifa but we had a squad of Proud Boys and the police presence was solid. Plenty of brave elders, kids and ladies in the crowd. It felt safe.
I wonder if Gov Newsom will tell the police to stop coddling the Trumpsters this week? Try to give Antifa a chance to hassle stragglers like in DC?

Speaking of compelling, Abadman, there is nothing especially bad about the masks, any more than those little cloth yellow stars were to the Jews in WWII.
It is the forced display of what is merely a symbol so that aberrant behavior can be found and corrected that makes them problems.
And, once the masks themselves are accepted as a symbol of control, so then are all the other demands and mandates and removal of rights and liberties that accompany the masks deemed not only acceptable but "good" and the rejection of them "bad".
Who it is "good" for is never quite explained, nor is the metric by which alleged good is measured explained.
Then we are left with "Orange Man Bad" and "Man destroys the earth with AGW" and "see my hockey stick.
After that we can be told to throw 12 year old virgins down into the pits so that some god will be pleased.
That is why masks are bad. Not whether they are "effective" or not.
-----
I have told the story about a B School Case circa 1970 about a small regional brewery which thought its beer was as good as anything on the market. So they performed blind taste tests and by all the science of the day, they PROVED that their beer was preferred 52:48 against all the national beers. So they spent gazillions and went national. And went bankrupt in a few months. In our class post mortem, we concluded it was never about a small blind taste test "science" advantage. Buyers just liked those Budweiser Horses and were loyal to what they were loyal too. Hearts and minds had been won over for years before the new guys came onto the field.
That is what masks mean. We cannot send hearts and minds out for reprogramming until we see which ones need it.

--If masks provided a 10% benefit is that meaningful? 20%,30%? Where do you draw the line?--
Here's the problem with that reasoning;
The effect was such that they can't rule out that masks were in fact harmful. I don't think it's too hard to draw a line about telling people to do something without even knowing whether it benefits or harms them.

Fully agree. Esper and Krebs were IMO part of the problem and Trump fired their asses. Barr is still around.
Tom R at 10:29 AM
henry,
I fell back asleep after posting my earlier comment, but I completely agree with both you and Tom.
I believe the President is being careful about whom he fires at this point. He can't be happy with the way the Durham investigation has been slow walked. Nonetheless, firing Esper (who we're told already had his resignation letter written) was one thing. The dismissal of cabinet members (e.g., Chad Wolf and Barr, perhaps Haspell) might be leaped on by the media and Congress as an indication of instability.
In contrast, that brief speech by Watnick yesterday concerning the creation of what constitutes a new civilian Chief of Staff (Watnick) over U.S. Special Forces, equal to the others, had to be a shot across the bow to the Deep State. In short, the President is not playing by their rules anymore.

Not sure what I said to get that started OL.
Once upon a time the purpose of science was to understand things.
This seemed like some reasonable data to look at masks.
There was 2000-3000 in each arm if I remember right. If the effect was small probably not enough to reach statistical significance, but nothing to sneeze at either
The prevalence rate was stated at 2%. At that level the masks would need to be very effective for the results to be significant or meaningful or whatever you want it to be. It wasn’t, masks are not effective, case closed.
Is there anything else that can be gleaned from the study?
If the prevalence in the masked group is 1.8% and the rate I the control group is 2.1% that suggests that there may be a 10-15% difference( 2-3 per thousand in real numbers) between the groups. Whether this can be proven or not, it is a data point backed up with 5000-6000 total in the samples. In medicine those are relatively big numbers. This is not something to make policy on but I find it interesting. You may not.
It is just some information that might help people make their own choices
I’m not saying it is correct, just that it could be.
But hey I’m your strawman

Twitter playing games with attkisson and her efforts to post a screen shot from one of the affidavits:https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Ftwitter.com%2Fg_easton819%2Fstatus%2F1329360441156403201%3Ffbclid%3DIwAR257ijgd_-el97v2RlYdApDd0ziWVdvPG6IPES-Ja_ra1z1J9LwvzUb48M&h=AT21XTeZkvzt222qoMiXZUZhHjTNKgioNLx46fuFdoSe3gswPhbjGofUgVZegQxo_ewyKWx0S5xcPJzAwjhxMCyq8JpexX7ceWpuEG33zNd6wMh6zBHrcXm7yI8sFRKo9yc1OBk&__tn__=R]-R&c[0]=AT3tZcJmKayb7c_Ykx9UOal7ISckjX2FQYOsjE9v7jl8pmt62zUS4gWYyV3bk5j0iHP-6LJ13YTlIIGrMFcdILk5BzjBqqjsAvjpXlm2H1BBE_qukFBVtmtqasMpxGpymtgXGeXYt8DLcVc6XiZB

Probably nothing you said Abadman! You just pushed a button I have been building.
I know you know my point is that ALL of these things installed after buying some time to protect the ICU's for a couple of weeks has been simple piling on by Petty Tyrants at horrendous human, social, and economic costs with very little to show for the price paid, and with not much actual science-science and certainly no cost-benefit behind any of them. And I at least have no doubt that some bug "crisis" was always a necessary ingredient in stealing the election.

Abadman, I told the story about my little summer village wanting to privately raise and spend $40M to build a satellite fire station so that average response times could be reduced from 11 minutes to 7. My neighbors were aghast that some of us thought that was the stupidest waste of money ever.

Steph "Why Does a Voting Machine Need Algorthmic Predictive Software for Simple Tabulation?"
Great minds, Steph. Now you know why I dated myself this morning by using the phrase "Friden Calculator".

Do we need to use the back of the paper yet to continue the list of GOP leaders speaking out for fair elections and Trump's battle?
Didn't think so.
Shameless.

To YL,
If your kids ever develop an interest in horses you have an incredible gem in your town. NCMT has been around since 1939. I spent seven years there. Of course there were a lot more guys back then. Here is a short film about Troop. The old white barn in the pictures is the one where I use to ride. They have since built the new barn. What I learned there helped me get a job training field hunters while I was in college in Lexington KY.
