Well you may throw your rock and hide your hand
Workin' in the dark against your fellow man
But as sure as God made black and white
What's down in the dark will be brought to the light
You can run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
"Joyful, joyful we adore Thee,
God of glory, Lord of love
Hearts unfold like flowers before thee
Opening to the sun above
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness,
Drive the dark of doubt away,
Giver of immortal gladness,
Fill us with the light of day."
After Hillary got the plurality of popular vote in 2016, there was a lot of talk in some blue states about requiring the state’s electors to vote in accordance with the national popular vote leader. Did any states enact such a change?
The popular vote compact only goes into effect when enough states have joined it to control a majority of the electoral college. That hasn't happened yet, though it's close.
I hope and expect it will be ruled unconstitutional if it ever goes into effect.
Showed that to son, who after hearing the announcement, immediately drove to the Trump store to buy a shirt to wear tomorrow. Even daughter giggled a little.
It’s good to check in here. Listening to the chatter in the store today made me very dubious today. One loser, never had seen him before, came in and asked us why he couldn’t vote today. We told him it’s tomorrow. Then he asked what Charlie said, and after hearing, he asked when he was running for Pres. (WTF?!). Then he proceeded to drop a bunch of f bombs at the entrance with another customer. I have a nice older woman at the register. “Hey, hey, dial it back and take it outside!” “Oh, sorry, I am in construction.” (What?!). Then another said we need to just get used to things the way are in Europe (WHAT!?).
Is this all pre-election theater or do authorities really not have down what protocols to follow in scenarios that could reasonably be expected?
Both, probably.
There's been plenty of theater, plenty of arbitrary rules by bureaucrats and elected officials who've fallen in love with the power they've seized thanks to COVID, and also plenty of plain, simple incompetence on the part of "experts" who should be expected to know better after 9 months of this crap.
This is like saying the sun rose in the east today. No matter how much you have you should always buy more. Put it on the list with milk, eggs and butter.
However, with a little ammo and gasoline, pretty much everything is attainable.
Yes its got a western feel and timothy olyphant is in it.

Per Wiki, 196 EVs for states in the compact, plus 50 or so more "pending." Mostly deep blue states, so it will be most amusing if they get to 270 and the GOP wins the PV, and states like CA and NY have to give their EVs to the Republican.

JMHanes, yes it was strange all day. Lots of comments about tomorrow, and very few saying anything other than how things would be a mess for a long time, and that we won’t know anything until next year. Sigh. But of course Charlie has a 70% approval. I still believe Trump will win, but some days it’s a drag listening to all the unsolicited opinions. Oh, and one former Republican US Senate primary candidate commented about my not wearing my mask! I’m sure he’s a never Trumper. He’s a good customer though!
Plus my dog is still not 100%, but he seems better. Maybe the general angst of his human family is bringing him down. He saying, “I can only be a comfort dog to you all for so long!”

I guess it's the power-of-and night. The GOP establishment despised the Tea Parties (which also crossed a bunch of demographics lines), but we still managed to change the terms of the conversation. The grassroots have moved considerably to the right of the party's Paul Ryans, don't you think?

Congrats, sbw. And I agree the Popular Vote Compact is unconstitutional, but I'd still relish them getting hoist on their own petard, if only to see how they manage to wriggle out of it. For some reason I'm reminded of how Massachusetts kept changing its laws of succession for replacing senators who leave office, depending on who was in power (if I'm remembering correctly).
We'll be okay for home defense. I think. Will look into online options, thanks. Didn't realize it was that easy - thought it was hard to find everywhere.
The GOP establishment despised the Tea Parties (which also crossed a bunch of demographics lines), but we still managed to change the terms of the conversation.
I guess that's the right way to look at it but it took an outsider like DJT to cement it in place. The trouble was a ruling class collegiality led to the Uniparty and it happened so gradually and subtly that it was in place before anyone consciously knew it, at least on the outside.
Someone in the Horde compared Trump to Eisenhower which instantly made me go "what?" But Eisenhower, of all people, articulated the danger of the military industrial complex. When I first heard that my reaction was WTF but he was exactly right on sounding the alarm, particularly as a former General. Too bad not enough people, or the wrong people, listened to him.
I will be experiencing radio silence in the mountains tomorrow through Wednesday.
If the worst happens while I'm gone rest assured I will do my best to find one of those zombie Trump chicks and repopulate the earth with little Golden Scalp Weasels.
