Well you may throw your rock and hide your hand
Workin' in the dark against your fellow man
But as sure as God made black and white
What's down in the dark will be brought to the light

You can run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Sooner or later God'll cut you down

No term limit for Bay State Guv, Jane. Baker could run for a third term.

Jim Eagle

Off to bed but will lurk.

Be good to each other. Tomorrow is going to be the greatest day of the year.

Blow out, baby.

henry

30 minutes out then A Bob. Unless the drive the speed limit, the 45 minutes.

Another Bob

Now 94 showing closed to south of Hwy 100.

Over under on cities that riot this week

Matt: 12

45 miles to the border. Figure about the same to Kenosha airport with the turn east

henry

Cities that riot over/under?

Feelin' pretty good tonight, clarice! It's kinda scary.

Trump arriving

Another Bob

I’m wondering if there wasn’t some delay at the airport.

MissMarple2

"Joyful, joyful we adore Thee,
God of glory, Lord of love
Hearts unfold like flowers before thee
Opening to the sun above
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness,
Drive the dark of doubt away,
Giver of immortal gladness,
Fill us with the light of day."

The President has just pulled up in the Beast.

Barbara

These rallies are amazing. They’ve set up more bleachers with the last three or so. I've never seen turn out like this.

clarice

I'm pumped, too, jmh..even though I know the crap the losers will be tossing in the next few days.

henry

A Bob, if Trump took a while to thoroughly kick Evers’ balls across Lake Michigan, I not only forgive him, I applaud him.

MJW

After Hillary got the plurality of popular vote in 2016, there was a lot of talk in some blue states about requiring the state’s electors to vote in accordance with the national popular vote leader. Did any states enact such a change?

The popular vote compact only goes into effect when enough states have joined it to control a majority of the electoral college. That hasn't happened yet, though it's close.

I hope and expect it will be ruled unconstitutional if it ever goes into effect.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Evers has testes. Huh.
Looks can be deceiving.

Narciso

Yes its got a western feel and timothy olyphant is in it.

BeastsEngland

Looking at an election morning thread from 2016 and Mr. RattlerGator made this fine prediction:

‘Trump 309, Hildabeast 229’

Narciso

Facts not in evidence, henry

CCGirl

Thanks, Dave! Very funny!

Showed that to son, who after hearing the announcement, immediately drove to the Trump store to buy a shirt to wear tomorrow. Even daughter giggled a little.

It’s good to check in here. Listening to the chatter in the store today made me very dubious today. One loser, never had seen him before, came in and asked us why he couldn’t vote today. We told him it’s tomorrow. Then he asked what Charlie said, and after hearing, he asked when he was running for Pres. (WTF?!). Then he proceeded to drop a bunch of f bombs at the entrance with another customer. I have a nice older woman at the register. “Hey, hey, dial it back and take it outside!” “Oh, sorry, I am in construction.” (What?!). Then another said we need to just get used to things the way are in Europe (WHAT!?).

Soylent Red

15 cities will riot. Double digit deaths.

Will not speculate on Electoral College out of superstition.

James D.

Is this all pre-election theater or do authorities really not have down what protocols to follow in scenarios that could reasonably be expected?

Both, probably.

There's been plenty of theater, plenty of arbitrary rules by bureaucrats and elected officials who've fallen in love with the power they've seized thanks to COVID, and also plenty of plain, simple incompetence on the part of "experts" who should be expected to know better after 9 months of this crap.

JM Hanes

How bizarre, ccg!

peter

MM @ 8:57, I was just listening to Beethoven.
good night all

Porchlight

Trump had mic troubles and is now going handheld. LOL.

Another Bob

I would NOT want to be microphone guy rn.

Porchlight

Haha now they're fixing the mic. Classic Trump talking about the guy sweating bullets.

Dave (in MA)

Ha ha - the poor A/V guy.

Another Bob

Surprised this doesn’t happen more often.

Soylent Red

We need ammo.

This is like saying the sun rose in the east today. No matter how much you have you should always buy more. Put it on the list with milk, eggs and butter.

However, with a little ammo and gasoline, pretty much everything is attainable.

Yes its got a western feel and timothy olyphant is in it.

Justified or Deadwood? Both great but only one written by Elmore Leonard.

jimmyk

The popular vote compact only goes into effect when enough states have joined it to control a majority of the electoral college. That hasn't happened yet, though it's close.

Per Wiki, 196 EVs for states in the compact, plus 50 or so more "pending." Mostly deep blue states, so it will be most amusing if they get to 270 and the GOP wins the PV, and states like CA and NY have to give their EVs to the Republican.

Porchlight

Soylent, it's damn hard to get here. The stores sell out of what we need two minutes after they open. You have to go and stand in line every morning and hope you get lucky.

I feel your pain, Porch.

I have enough on hand to deal with whatever may come up, but we screwed up last summer by not buying in bulk like we usually do a couple times a year.

I guess we'll just have to aim small.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

--Soylent, it's damn hard to get here. The stores sell out of what we need two minutes after they open.--

You're in Texas; go online and buy all you can afford. The freight can be a bit stiff but it's cheaper than going to an empty store.

sbwaters

The popular vote compact would subvert the Constitution without going through the constitutional process provided to do it.

Ergo, unconstitutional.

Suck on it, snowflake.

Another Bob

A lot of the bulk places are sold out Ig.

CCGirl

JMHanes, yes it was strange all day. Lots of comments about tomorrow, and very few saying anything other than how things would be a mess for a long time, and that we won’t know anything until next year. Sigh. But of course Charlie has a 70% approval. I still believe Trump will win, but some days it’s a drag listening to all the unsolicited opinions. Oh, and one former Republican US Senate primary candidate commented about my not wearing my mask! I’m sure he’s a never Trumper. He’s a good customer though!

Plus my dog is still not 100%, but he seems better. Maybe the general angst of his human family is bringing him down. He saying, “I can only be a comfort dog to you all for so long!”

JM Hanes

henry:

"I’m not sure conservatives have swung right over the past 40 years as much as the “center” took a hard left turn."

I guess it's the power-of-and night. The GOP establishment despised the Tea Parties (which also crossed a bunch of demographics lines), but we still managed to change the terms of the conversation. The grassroots have moved considerably to the right of the party's Paul Ryans, don't you think?

sbwaters

Ammo? You should have been rolling your own.

Mrs. sbw and I will pass on watching the election pearl-clutching. Tomorrow is our 36th anniversary that we will spend overnight at The Lodge at Turning Stone, relaxing by the fire, sipping Pol Roger.

It’s time for Democrats to slowly back away from the levers of power and reconsider what is the purpose of a political party.

Dave (in MA)

Congrats to Mr. & Mrs. SBW.

Narciso

As the chronicler,

henry

Congrats mr & Mrs SBW!

clarice

Happy Anniversary, mr and mrs SBW.

jimmyk

Congrats, sbw. And I agree the Popular Vote Compact is unconstitutional, but I'd still relish them getting hoist on their own petard, if only to see how they manage to wriggle out of it. For some reason I'm reminded of how Massachusetts kept changing its laws of succession for replacing senators who leave office, depending on who was in power (if I'm remembering correctly).

MissMarple2

Happy anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. SBW!

CCGirl

Yeah, sbw and wife! Sorry about the stalag NY crap!

Porchlight

We'll be okay for home defense. I think. Will look into online options, thanks. Didn't realize it was that easy - thought it was hard to find everywhere.

Captain Hate

The GOP establishment despised the Tea Parties (which also crossed a bunch of demographics lines), but we still managed to change the terms of the conversation.

I guess that's the right way to look at it but it took an outsider like DJT to cement it in place. The trouble was a ruling class collegiality led to the Uniparty and it happened so gradually and subtly that it was in place before anyone consciously knew it, at least on the outside.

Someone in the Horde compared Trump to Eisenhower which instantly made me go "what?" But Eisenhower, of all people, articulated the danger of the military industrial complex. When I first heard that my reaction was WTF but he was exactly right on sounding the alarm, particularly as a former General. Too bad not enough people, or the wrong people, listened to him.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

I will be experiencing radio silence in the mountains tomorrow through Wednesday.
If the worst happens while I'm gone rest assured I will do my best to find one of those zombie Trump chicks and repopulate the earth with little Golden Scalp Weasels.

If there's nothing but antifa chicks left, well it was good knowing the human race while it lasted, but they're what the ammo is for.

I always thought the Tea Party formed because people realized our elected representatives weren't serving in the same way they campaigned. In other words, voters realized they'd been scammed. Our congressmen were liars.

Another way to put it -- they weren't listening to us.

henry:

From a strictly anecdotal angle, I know that I've moved considerably further to the right of where I was a decade ago. What I would always have called a moderate Republican, was suddenly a RINO. Media began to conflate Republican with Conservative. Perhaps long standing, confirmed conservatives have not moved much, I do think the gravitational center of the Republican party (and I'm not just talking about the politicians) has shifted considerably to the right.

Pinandpuller

I can’t believe these fools are using drywall screws to board up their windows lmao.
