Trump is not happy with his legal team's performance, based on plausible leaks from folks familiar with his thinking. Well, nor is Rush.
I'm sure that in his earlier life as real estate mogul Trump dealt with top legal talent on a regular basis (and Mickey Cohen!). This isn't that.
They planned on losing...gets to the Supreme Court faster that way.

Are they like the pols here in Mass, who simply ignore passed referendums? --ccgirl
California pols steal all the money that voters are promised will go to roads or water projects. But as far as referendums, most have been hard to overturn. Except for marriage. Judges determined that we could not define marriage in the state constitution.

LA County's $465,000-per-year health director has dictated that starting tomorrow we cannot have even outdoor dining at restaurants and bars. Also, we seem to have hit the arbitrary threshold for a complete lockdown, so tomorrow the LA County Supervisors will decide whether we can leave our homes for anything other than life-maintaining food supplies.
I am going to try to get myself arrested.

Before we get into this post, let’s all remember that Gov. Gavin Newsom has apologized, acknowledged that we’re all human, and said he should have gotten back in his car and left when he saw the size of the crowd gathered for a birthday party at The French Laundry. He didn’t, though. And according to journalist Adam Housley, those spy photos that outed the governor and his guests not wearing masks might not have captured the full attendance of the dinner party.
1/2 Because Yountville is my hometown..and where the French Laundry is located…I thought I’d do some digging. Facts about the Newsom dinner. The bar bill was around 15-thousand. 22 people in attendance, not 12. No masks. All indoors. They got so loud, other patrons complained
— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) November 23, 2020
2/2 There was “zero effort” to go outside and there was no social distancing of any type. I’m also told some of those there are now privately laughing at the controversy. Remember this is my little hometown. The walls speak.

Ig and John S, It’s not that it was overturned. It was ignored. The people have voted for great referendums in the past, such as prop 2-1/2, regarding limits on increases on property tax.
Years ago the legislature increased the sales tax rate from 5% to 6.25% (I may be wrong but I think under Deval Patrick’s lead). A referendum passed to return the rate to 5%.
Crickets. We are still at 6.25%. For years now.

ccgirl, the "temporary" increase in the MA *INCOME* tax was enacted in 1989, for 18 months. 31 years later we're still not back to 5% despite referendums. Right now it's 5.05%, but they made up for the incremental decreases over the years by jacking up sales taxes, fees and meals taxes, though for the latter they decreed that the meals taxes get raised by local officials, so they can pass the blame around.
The
cynicrealist in me predicts a new raise in income and sales taxes to make up the decreased inflow of money from the restaurants that they've put out of business.Posted by: Dave (in MA) | November 23, 2020 at 08:38 PM

For Jane
Pam Kelley, a Kennedy casualty, passes away
Howie CarrNovember 22, 2020 at 8:55 a.m.
Pam Kelley was 18 years old in the summer of 1973 when she accepted a fateful ride in a Jeep from a male member of the Kennedy family on Nantucket.
Joseph P. Kennedy II flipped the Jeep on a sandy cutoff and Pam Kelley was thrown out and paralyzed from the waist down.
She would never walk again. She spent the rest of her life in a wheelchair.
Pam Kelley Burkley died Friday at the age of 65. She lived 25 years longer than the doctors had predicted back in 1973.
She is survived by, among others, a 31-year-old daughter and two grandsons.
The accident had no adverse impact on Joe Kennedy’s life and career, of course. For crippling Pam Kelley, he had to appear before a local judge who had graduated from Harvard with his uncle and namesake Joseph Kennedy Jr., a judge who like Joe’s father Bobby
had once worked in Washington for Sen. Joseph McCarthy of Wisconsin.
In between sporadic attendance at a string of second- and third-tier colleges, Joe was accompanied to court by his mother Ethel and his uncle Ted.
The senator was making his own first appearance in a state courtroom since pleading guilty to leaving the scene of an accident after killing Mary Jo Kopechne in his own motor-vehicle accident four years earlier on Martha’s Vineyard.
For putting Pam Kelley in a wheelchair for the rest of her life, the family-retainer judge fined Joe Kennedy $100.
That’s the Kennedy M.O. They all live their lives like Tom and Daisy Buchanan in “The Great Gatsby.”
There is more.....

Why do they make these biopsies so invasive.
Traditional biopsies have to be invasive. Usually a tissue is sampled, and they are not close to the surface and a needle biopsy is performed.
Many others and I are working on "liquid biopsies" so that disease finger-prints can be found in the blood instead of using invasive biopsies.
This is a difficult problem, but it will succeed. Forget the lawyers and guns -- send money!
