A little inside politics in NJ.

The next governor for NJ will be elected in November 2021. Now one can see why Murphy has broken with Cuomo over lockdown policies.

Murphy gets free coverage on TV discussing the Covid situation, but he comes off as hectoring.

Surprise he's running TV ads with a more upbeat image and message.

Who's paying for it? New Directions NJ. Who are they?

https://www.politico.com/newsletters/new-jersey-playbook/2019/08/13/if-only-new-direction-new-jersey-had-gone-a-different-direction-467808

From 2019. "Yesterday, The Record published a story showing that the NJEA donated another $1 million to the Murphy-aligned New Direction New Jersey. That’s in addition to the $2.5 million reported here. Another union, SEIU 32 BJ, gave $150,000, according to The Record."

It's not a PAC. It's a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization.

Donor list from 2019:

https://www.insidernj.com/new-direction-nj-releases-full-donor-list/

Home page:
https://www.newdirectionnj.com/

"New Direction New Jersey is driven by the fact that, for too long, things in New Jersey were unfair...So we’re supporting an agenda to build a stronger, fairer New Jersey that works for every family."

It's ACORN all over again.

"Using a combination of geological and archaeological analyses, researchers have uncovered evidence that a massive paleo-tsunami struck Israel's Mediterranean coast, near the ancient settlement of Tel Dor, between 9,910 and 9,290 years ago."

I think that's too far back to be related to the destruction of the Minoan culture, but I'm guessing there is other evidence to be found for that.

I have read all this stuff before. My argument remains: Regarding the statements of persons aledging irregularities in how the vote was counted or how the voting machines could have been manipulated .... it is ALL circumstantial and not sufficient to undo a vote. With reference to the mail in voting processes which violated State law....The wrongdoing in the conduct of the vote in various States was CONDONED by the opposing party (the republicans) who in each case CONTROLLED the legislature and Senate in ALL of the contested States. They DELIBERATELY CHOSE to NOT oppose those provisions of mail in voting procedures invoked by the governors which violated State law. This INACTION constitutes legal agreement with these actions. This is why the Supreme Court did NOT intervene in what was a matter made purely political by republican inaction. (Remember Explaining why the Supreme Court's decision to not get involved in this election was the correct one was the original subject of this thread)

My husband is mad about the Declaration of Independence and has been researching it for weeks. He believes if American is no longer operating via "consent of the governed" then Britain should claim ownership of its colony and possibly sue for property that has been stolen from Brit owners.

Unlike what the rest of the Horde believes, Tebow was treated just fine as was Haskins.

Haskins was not brought into a good situation or set up to succeed. It’s never a good sign when the owner insists on drafting a guy against the advice/wishes of the coaches and GM. Doubly so when that owner is Dan Snyder.

Unless that new President is Trump, in which case a judge can stop him.

BuffyUK

His argument is, if Joe Biden gets in, that would be illegal if the concept "consent of the governed" was law.

So the British government could sue.

I'm sure it wouldn't come to force of arms. But Joe is a warmonger. He might get grumpy about the court case.

The Democrat/foreign operatives seem to have effected the destruction of the Republican Party.

Not every enneffell QB has the luxury of being brought up to speed slowly like Aaron Rodgers and Phillip Rivers were. Tim Couch was shoved into the starting lineup behind a sieve of a line on his second game by idiot Chris Palmer and promptly got the shit beat out of him. He was a mouthy punk who'd have probably washed out anyway but he deserved a better chance.

RG3 was setting the league on fire from the get go running an offense that maximized his skillset. Unfortunately he was undersized and it didn't take long before he was crunched and his career went in the shitter. For all the jerking off the league does about talent evaluation, with combines and sciency shit, it's still glorified guesswork and just damn luck of a player landing in the right situation. Tom Brady was a sixth round choice. Kurt Warner caught lightning in a bottle twice after knocking around arena leagues until he was older than 30.

I never thought Haskins would succeed.

Melinda

The "Plug N' Play" mindset of some Execs/GM's on offensive line personnel drives me nuts, despite "cheap". It's what wrecked more high draft RBs and QBs than anything else. That and stopping testing for weed. The late Rasham Salaam laid testament to that route.

Seems to me it's a pretty strong argument. The Constitution explicitly gives State Legislatures the power to set the rules for elections. If the citizens send such a bunch of pussies to their legislatures that they sit on their thumbs while the executive branch and the bureaucracy run roughshod over their delegated powers then the most proximal solution is for the citizens to quit electing pussies or alternately tarring and feathering or possibly garroting some of those they have already elected.
An argument can be made that the courts should step in to remedy something clearly contrary to the Constitution but the silence of the bodies given the power that is being usurped is a high hurdle to clear.
Wimps produce deleterious consequences, the solution to which the court, with some justification, can lay at the feet of the voters.

Ig, I'm saying that if laws were broken, the PEOPLE need to be the first concern. Not which party encouraged or allowed it.
IT's pretty simple.
Which party encouraged and condoned, fire bombings, burning, beating, lootings, and MOAR.

Are we supposed to swallow that too, because DEMOCRATS ALLOWED IT???

Captain Hate

The Skins did it under one head coach who de emphasized the QB position. Win it by controlling the line on offense and defense; what a concept!

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

--Are we supposed to swallow that too, because DEMOCRATS ALLOWED IT???--

Of course not, but the remedy will not be the courts in cities where those who are supposed to prosecute fire bombings etc approve of them. Even if the courts themselves were not corrupt, which they are [ see Mel's 9:22], if the people won't or can't replace corrupt pols at the ballot box then it is up to them to replace corrupt pols at the point of a gun.
That is the equation being forced on us by corrupt progs.
They don't think we'll take the dare. I don't think they'll stop until we have no other choice but to take it, at which point their eyes will become large and round just prior to closing.

"If the citizens send such a bunch of pussies to their legislatures that they sit on their thumbs while the executive branch and the bureaucracy run roughshod over their delegated powers then the most proximal solution is for the citizens to quit electing pussies"

Can't agree with this. The whole point of Rule By Law rather than Rule By Men is that we citizens don't have to only elect non-pussies to preserve constitutional rights. Not everybody can tell the difference based on campaign publicity.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

This is one of those pointless conjectures, but except for Jim Plunkett's one bad postseason game against the worthless and far inferior Jets, the Redskins would not have won their 1982 Super Bowl as the Raiders' dismantling of them in the 1983 one demonstrated.

The commenter that amom quoted is making the same argument that was part of the prediction made by the the birther whom I linked a while ago. Prior to the SCOTUS trashing the Texas lawsuit Leo Donofrio, who filed his own lawsuit against Pennsylvania, noted that Texas was relying on a mangled plenary power argument that suggested the suspect states were usurping the plenary power(absolute) of the states’ legislative bodies. The simple counter argument is “not doing anything is actually doing something.”

The legislative inaction is tacit approval because the have plenary power.

When I read his summary, I posted my belief that the Texas lawsuit was pure cover so they could say “hey, we tried.” SCOTUS justices don’t worry about getting re-elected, Texas legislatures do.

That the courts won’t allow “standing” for anyone to sue for violations of the Constitutions, both state and federal, is the true disgrace at the moment, IMO. But it is part of a absolutely conspiracy between the legislative bodies any the judicial system and their game of hot potato.

Wimps produce deleterious consequences, the solution to which the court, with some justification, can lay at the feet of the voters."

----

The voting in those states was not in accordance to the laws actually passed by those legislators. The laws were overridden or ignored by government employees.

That should have been corrected by the courts.

Sure, the Legislatures had the fallback ability to refuse to certify the counts, but that is a higher bar for wimps to swallow, as is demonstrated by none of them doing it.

Next up, Congress could correct it all.

Ha Ha Ha.

So in the end, GUS is right on this one, and WeThePeople will take it in our ends come Jan 20.

Ig @ 9:42

So if state bureaucrats ignore/violate the law, and the state legislatures do nothing, the courts should let obvious injustice stand because the 50.0001% of the electorate chose dumbasses/crooks to represent them?

That's insane.

And it seems like - correct me if I'm wrong - you think the courts should sit it out, even if the likely/inevitable result is violence and bloodshed?

ALL of this just adds to the notion, now the accepted rule of the road, that we simply have no laws that apply equally to all citizens.

We were a special place, back when we did.

In the modern era, this should have stopped dead with Lois Lerner.

Matt commented yesterday about what is done is done so now let's try to fix the election laws that permitted this so it does not happen again.

That too is a Ha Ha Ha notion since we swallowed that same elephant when we saw with our own eyes what the government had done with all those tools we gave them to spy on everybody. We were told "yes, that was bad, but when the FISA law comes up for renewal, we WILL FIX IT.

So why would they fix a voting system that gives Chavez & Putin and now Biden 99% of every vote?
