Narciso,

That Dossier article is really excellent! Thanks for posting it!

So Emperor Cuomo is graciously going to allow 25% indoor dining again in NYC—starting February 14th. Gotta wait those 2 more weeks for a few thousand more businesses to fail. The coldest 2 weeks of the year. Just so we know who is boss.

Our host is a little slow on the uptake. He's now figured out that Andrew Cuomo is a lying weasel. He left out the "arrogant"part. but getting to the "he's a lying weasel stage" is progress.

It's possible that, given sufficient time and evidence, he may come to the realization that Shufflin Senescent Joe Biden is also a lying weasel. Maybe not--if Senescent Joe believes what he's saying, or can't remember the truth, is it actually a lie?

Henry, if you lend me one of those beers today, I will give you the right to ask me for two next Tuesday. And no, I don't mean one of them virtual beers you think you have on the paper taped on Mel's fridge door, I mean I need the actual beer in my hand. Now.

I could mail a Spotted Cow, assuming I can get to the post office in the 6-10 inches of snow currently arriving.

Given you can’t get Spotted Cow outside Wisconsin, you might have a wee problem at your end. :)

It's how one refers to one's chums when employing the way-out beatnik lingo of the younger generations, old sport.
MissMarple2

Would somme of you answer a question:

If silver is going to go up, what should we do with 3-4 silver dollars and some pieces of silver jewelry marked sterling? And will gold go up commensurately? We have a few pieces of 14K chains and small earrings.

Jim Eagle

Beatnik generation? I have actually met and disgussed the serious issues of the day with Alan Ginsburg. Antioch College while stationed at Wright_Patterson. A little AF rebellion. Interesting guy!

Jim Eagle

....actually disgussed is more approriate....

henry

MissM, as far as I can tell, the Reddit crew are targeting silver based ETFs. I don’t understand the relationship between “paper” silver and the metal itself. For things like coins, they have their own market. (Dealers will pay less than “market value”, the question is which dealer to trust to get a better price).

Jim Eagle

Miss Marple, unless you are desperate and need the money, stay put. Never folllow the mob.

MissMarple2

Jack,

AF rebellion? How about attending a concert featuring Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention at the old Olympic Sportshalle in 1968?

That was my experience with a riot, because some anti-American Germans started yelling at him and drove him off the stage, and he returned with a list of German cusswords someone had written down and he started reading them to the crowd.

They rushed the stage and tore up the instruments abandoned there as Zappa fled for his life, and we had to climb over the backs of our seats to get out through the upper levels of the arena.

sbwaters

Tyler Durden: There are no real options for the Federal Reserve unless they are willing to allow the system to reset painfully.

Mel... or any of you with Jeeves like economic understanding... what kind of a reset would be required? And how would ordinary mortals best deal with it?

I would have thought Trump was headed in the right direction slashing inhibitions to non-governmental investment, but because of Congress he could not control ballooning government and social programs.

Another way?

sbwaters

How about talking with Frank Zappa the same time perion in the locker room of Huntington Gym waiting for his concert to begin.

A youthful fog at the time is all that remains. No chemistry involved.

Yikes.

MissMarple2

henry, Jack,

When I was reading that long article on Zerohedge about silver, I learned that some people like to hold on to physical silver. (I assume these are the wealthy Scrooge McDuck types who enjoy having stashes of money rather like the old money bin in the comic).

We came across some silver safety awards my ex-husband had kept from the last mine he ran and the jewelry and such is not ever worn. (Who wears one gold earring other than a pirate?)

My daughter would feel a little more secure if she had a stash of cash in a bank, although now looking at the banks, maybe that isn't such a good idea, either. Maybe we should sell one coin and buy more peanut butter!

MissMarple2

https://amgreatness.com/2021/01/29/restoring-the-machinery-of-the-american-republic/

This is a good explanation of why we should try to instill a love of country in the younger generation.

It's also why I think we need to admire those kids in that Washington Times article I posted earlier, who are trying to set up a place that not only sells their work but offered a gathering place for people who are so bereft of human contact.

Jim Eagle

Interesting, because If I had to escape, South Africa would be my firsr choice. I love that country and if you haven;t been there put it on your wish list.

Sure, But not the reason to go there:)

MissM, years ago when I was working with my father I asked him if he thought people buying carbon monoxide detectors thought that they were protecting themselves from the same gas that caused “global warming.” (That was the term at the time). He laughed and agreed that yes, many probably think CO and CO2 are the same thing.

Davod

OL. Regarding long distance beer. In the 70s when I was in Darwin, just after Cyclone Tracy, they reopened the brewery. Well, the brewery was famous for its Darwin stubbies. A normal size stubby of beer is about the size of a beer can. The Darwin stubby was more like a two liters, or half a gallon. Because it was unique, I decided to send one to my father in the mail. When I was down in Perth on leave, I asked Dad how he liked the stubby I sent from Darwin. "So that was why I got a nasty letter from the post office about sending liquids through the mail."

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

I can't resize this properly so right click for a superbly stupid and hilarious 'The Hill' claim and "correction";

CCGirl

Rse, I have asked before how you can stand to read all that crap! I tried to explain to my teacher daughter last night that “they” like virtual teaching because they can control the reality - or some such. She just laughed and said, “Good luck with that! The kids pay zippo attention when I have to teach remotely.” So maybe there is hope?

Davod

In case anyone is wondering about Richard Lindzen's qualifications to comment on CO2, here is the short quote from Wikipedia:

"Richard Siegmund Lindzen (born February 8, 1940) is an American atmospheric physicist known for his work in the dynamics of the middle atmosphere, atmospheric tides, and ozone photochemistry. He has published more than 200 scientific papers and books."

Of course, this is before the wokists find out about his views.

ETFs are bank issued IOUs for a share of the gold at the end of the rainbow, I mean pool of assets purportedly held by the said bank, in account dedicated to holding said assets, every millisecond an HFT buys and sells said IOU.

It is a Private security, traded publicly. Only as good as said bank.

sbw,

I know of a number of "reset" buttons, none are pleasant, let alone the one Dear Leader Klaus is selling.

My understanding of precious metals is the perception of its storative value function as trust in whatever prevailing fiat currency begins to get undercut. Value is stored in the mind, not in things, but people never seem to remember that part. Hence, tulip bulbs.

The battle is not between those who want a larger size of a static economic pie and those who believe the economic pie grows larger as business grows — no, the battle is between you and the those who want to decide if you get a share of whatever is left.

OL, Solzhenitsyn piece was very worthwhile and has been shared with several family members.

NEW THREAD!

Melinda

MM-

They're on the wrong side of the list as well. Only reason they'd come out and say that.

On a Saturday.

sbwaters

On reading Markos on Solzhenitsyn:

What threads tie a multicultural society together? How are those threads validated? Who gets to decide what should be equal and how shall it be measured?

The difference between ideology and truth is that ideology never seeks to find reality and certainly can’t ask what is good because for them morality is relative.

The progressive ideology seeks progress to an unreachable end — progress, enforced through increasingly severe control, successively eating its own tail, increasingly centralized, brittle, and inflexible.

With no place for individuality, such a society kills its reason to exist. How sardonic that they justify attacks on individuals to rationalize further attacks on institutions crafted to protect the individuals they devour.
