Have to log onto a CA DOJ site to renew a certain state firearms license. Use it about once a year so forgot the password. Click the 'forgot password' link. Sends me an email that has the link but it isn't hot. Must be common as they say C&P it if it isn't hot. I C&P it. Brings up a hundred different sites, none of which are the one I need to get to. I finally remember my password go back and try it and it says it has expired. As I'm looking to try a different browser I find my hotmail account opened in a stand alone window. By a miracle the links are hot in it. I click one. Takes me back to the sign in screen and tells me my link is invalid or expired. I try twice more, same result. Never tells me I'm locked out of the account.
So what should have taken one minute at any other website turns into an hour long fiasco with numerous curse words and still no resolution of it. Almost certainly I will have to call the dumbshits to get it fixed tomorrow, and all to do what the puniest, most primitive websites do every day a thousand times.

For four years, this country had an economic boom, historic low unemployment rates, rock-bottom gas prices, a soaring stock market and no goddamned foreign wars. And that was with a corrupt press and a treasonous Democrat party that screamed "RUSSIA!" 24/7. And what did the GOP do with that record? Did it go out and support the President? Did it smash the lying Dems into the ground? Did it push through massive legislation making the lives of the working class better?

No. It undermined Trump, smeared his supporters and, ultimately, looked the other way as a fucking Presidential election was stolen in broad daylight.

This morning I woke up (after having a pleasant/disturbing dream in which I was waiting on my US Rep - I have not seen him or his wife in some months - and I gave him my opinion after asking him two questions) and my phone binged. Text from my brother that Ben Mooore would not be delivering our order as we were not in the proper “billing category.” WTF? I check my emails, and the BM rep has sent the info to take care of this problem. The powers that be at BM never told the sales reps this was happening, and so several merchants in my area did not get their expected paint orders. A few months back BM announced that they would not send their bills through True Value anymore. Okay - fine, we knew that. No info about new paperwork, etc. Turns out we had to fill out paperwork and send a new tax exempt resale cert to BM. This store has been buying since prior to 1972. Stupid is as stupid does. Took me my first hour in my pjs to fix it. Jerks.

CH, I have noticed since the Trump tax cut that people have been receiving letters from the IRS informing them that their withholding amounts are too low, and they need to fill out a new W-4. The company that runs my payroll program sends out emails every so often advising how to deal with this letter. In the past year my SIL received a letter (husband is self employed) and just last week my business partner brother did (his wife was self employed and does not work now). It’s not a conspiracy, but I wonder how many people were confused about the tax cuts, and still received this letter. To date I haven’t figured out exactly what the new W-4 does. It just asks the same kids of questions as the old one. I just tell them I will bump up the w/h a bit.

But why? If most people’s tax obligations went down (at moderate incomes) then why these letters? Just to confuse people?

I don't know, ccgirl. It never hurts to review your withholdings to make sure you don't get hit with a penalty (for which you have to be *really* under withheld) but coming now seems counterintuitive.

Maybe I am just off on a tangent. The younger generation imo doesn’t get taxes at all because they have never filled in the paper forms. Now they answer questions, and voila here is the amount you owe. They don’t see the stupid political issues behind the asinine tax rules that one sees when reading the paper instructions.

My oldest still paid taxes, but she did not realize she was paying a lot less than she would have paid under the old tax law. She’s just out of school. She has no idea when I tell her how great it is that she is paying less! 🥲

The taxes are simpler, but people seem more confused. LOL, my house is so much fun tonight. Hubs’ father is well on the road to recovery and so hubs came home. Kids in the house feared that having their father “quarantining” in the house would cause them to be ostracized from their friends, and so they headed for friend’s who can put them up for a week. Hubs is sleeping in his new office - out of the basement. Pull out sofa. It won’t open. I give him directions where to sit so he can hold the sofa firm while I pull out the mattress out. He’s a mess. Two day’s no sleep with his dad and worried to boot. Anyway the pull out won’t open all the way. I tell hubs that’s because you didn’t push the beautiful new desk I found you all the back to the wall. He says, “I did!” And I realize I am wrong. Then I check and see that the block of the extension cord is on the floor, and thereby blocking the desk full allowance to the wall. I remove the cord, and ha! Now the pull out sofa fits!

No kids, no husband! It’s my vacation! Thanks COVID! 😅
