Trump and a small group of his supporters disgrace themselves and embarrass this country.
I'd guess this was Mitch McConnell's Longest Day but also his Finest Hour. It was also a day that will live in infamy but we need to get other wars into the mix.
In other news, divided Republicans managed to lose both Georgia Senate seats. When the dust settles it will be Senate Majority Leader Schumer.
All in all, a memorably dreadful day for Team Red. Figuring out how to end this madness and merge the timelines so we have one nation sharing one reality will be a monumental long term project.
Speaking of rioters....

The reality is “Team Red” has been splitting since the Tea Party of a decade ago. Politicians took their money, labor, and votes then promptly ignored their issues. So Trump filled the void. As long as “Team Red” = Dem lite, there will be a split. You want to unite a reality, quit treating a substantial group as rubes. We can tie our own shoes, and not tie them together like the Boehners or Rubios or JEBs of the world.

Do we share the reality where otherwise intelligent people truly believe that Joe Biden secured 84 million votes? LOL
The madness you want to see ended will come only with the willful compliance of people who knew better. But is there really no more madness?

I must not have gone to the correct finishing schools, TM. I could have sworn that the center of gravity of federalism is that we can in effect live out different realities in the context of one big free trade zone and a federal government that attends to the common defense and doesn't sell out to other countries such as Red China. Silly me. I guess I need to adopt to the reality of the post-modern therapeutic corporate state.

We actually don't know for certain that it was Capitol Police who murdered Ashli Babbit. There have been some claims that the shooter was in civilian garb. I have doubts that Capitol Police would have been behind a door barricaded by a stacked up pile of furniture, which appears to be where the shot came from.

"...But for the New York Times to pretend that Gab is the problem – noting that Gab officially has no political positions apart from respecting the First Amendment and being unashamedly pro-law and order- is to deny reality, which is that for many in the political establishment, their policy is to excuse away low-level political violence that serves their interests and only get outraged when it doesn’t..."

What's the story on Cecil Turner? Is he dishonest or just uninformed? Presenting the Cobb county audit as proof the GA election was fraud-free is dishonest because no one was disputing the accuracy of Cobb county. The fraud primarily occurred in Fulton county and those involved in perpetrating the fraud intentionally prevented an audit to expose the fraud.
Posted by: Tom R | January 07, 2021 at 03:02 PM
"Duh" referred to your assumption that nobody within the GOP was in on it.
Well, that's certainly more substantive, thanks.
The problem with that theory is that it isn't one guy in the GOP, it's the entire SecState department and the GBI and investigators involved: any one of them can blow the whistle on a coverup, and none did. So unless your conspiracy theory accounts for a bunch of people--including more than a few prominent GOPers who'd be giving away significant political power by allowing Democrats to take over their Senate seats--going along with a "get Trump" scheme, it's a little hard to take seriously.
