I'm reading a child's book from 1921, titled "Some Famous Bonfires".

"In spite of all his preaching, Tunstal found that the more he scolded the people and told them they must not read Tyndale's New Testament, the more they read it...the bishop...went to St. Paul's Cross (NE of St. Paul's London) and there, with a deal of ado, made a huge bonfire of the books...making the good folk of England more and more inquisitive as to what there possibly could be inside this book which the Bishop hated so heartily." So we tried the Tea Party, we elected Trump, we built conservative leaning social media alternatives, and organized rallies to support the president's policies and we still couldn't overwhelm the one party state.

Angelo Codevilla says we are now an oligarchy.

Clearly, it is back to the blogs we go, from where activism on the right first coalesced and the Tea Party emerged. Passive resistance can be as effective as active sabotage. We need to start thinking of ways we can do this without sacrificing the safety and well-being of our families until we have to.

Personally, I love the idea of car/boat rallies continuing, meeting up with "elected" officials whenever they have a ribbon cutting, naming ceremony, townhall, event, or declared office hours. Remind them we're here. All the time. Watching.

OK TK I read the quo warranto oped you copy/pasted. Let's assume that is Trump's actual strategy and he has the evidence to prove it. A DC jury almost certainly will rule against him. Before I could even open Clarice’s link to the Dyer essay, Mrs MT had read it and posted her observation to our homies:

Excerpted, well because unless you want to spend the first 2/3rds of an otherwise good article reading about what a whiney little bedwetter you are, I’m more than happy to share the most important part of this write-up on conservative populism.

“So how do we lose? Well, by giving up.

One of more asinine assertions of the “let’s surrender” school is that the Internet will now be closed to us. We’ll be isolated, alone under a cold gray sky, to wither in misery, like a drawing on an early-60s avant-garde poster. We’re supposed believe that the Big Tech boys “own” the Net and can decide who and who can’t remain on their playground. This is idiotic. First, the internet is a public resource, owned by nobody. Second, it was designed by DARPA to continue operating even during a nuclear war. Thanks to the magic of packet switching (that’s one for you, Hedy), the Net routes messages around blocked or damaged points. As has been pointed out many times before, the Net interprets censorship as damage and simply goes around it. You cannot censor the Net (as China has discovered, despite all the help provided by Google.) Once you’re on the Net, you’re everywhere. As for getting on the Net in the first place, all you need is a server, a fancy name for a computer optimized for sending and receiving messages. You can find (as Parler has learned) people willing to rent servers by the thousands in every last country on the planet. Or alternately, you can buy your own. Small business servers start in the $1000 range and go up from there. (Rentals start at $50 to 60 a month). A server capable of handling traffic for a good-sized website might start at about $10,000. At this moment, there are smart entrepreneurs looking at the conservative market and scheming (one of them might well be a billionaire ex-president). Or we could start a conservative online media association, pool our dimes, and buy a server farm of our own, after which we can tell Jack, Jeff, and Mark to go scroo. The possibilities are endless.

JamesD, I've never talked much about the two little mysteries I wrote. You might find it interesting that the crime (brutality/dog abuse) in 'Let The Bones Talk' is true. A vacationing fisherman discovered the Golden Retriever on a small island in the Verdigris River, a tributary of the Arkansas River, northeast of here. The crime was so horrible and brutal that I couldn't figure out what kind of beast (human) would commit the torture of the dog. Every detail is true. Writing about it sort of helped me, not forget or understand, but eased my mind a little.

I think one of Ig's posts the other day touched on the same theme or understanding of evil. I would paraphrase but I'm not as brilliant or even as smart as Ig is and I certainly can't write like he does -- the essence is maybe that it is surprising how ordinary and common evil can be and often is ........

Just finishing up my thoughts on the two YA books I published. The first was based on a real crime and so is the second.

I read about the method in, I think, a Vanity Fair article years ago. Writing a speech for Biden can be hell. And that was before the inaugural.
https://www.politico.com/news/2021/01/19/joe-biden-inaugural-speech-lincoln-460506

For higher-profile remarks, [Biden would] obsessively rehearse portions until he committed them to memory. And at times through the various iterations of outlining remarks, Biden could grow downright ornery.

“I would never say this,” Biden once snapped at an aide, aghast over the prepared remarks he was reviewing, according to a person in the room during a speech prep session last year. “Where did you get this from?’”

The aide explained that Biden had just said it in a public speech a couple of weeks earlier.

All that counts is the peaceful transfer of power. The lying cheating and theft is just part of the peaceful process.
