Republicans will vote to acquit by relying on the defensible but unconvincing argument that a trial of an out-of-office President is not Constitutional.
Is anyone expecting any surprises? Ok, that's why they are called surprises. But I don't see any coming.

Commenter at Legal Insurrection:
Since this impeachment and trial is supposed be about conviction and removal from office the president, I think the Republicans should call a vote to clarify who the president is and who is removed from office in the event of conviction at trial.
It is just as plausible to convict Trump and remove Biden from office as it is that Trump can be tried or convicted.
I mean, they can spend all the time yacking about Trump they want, but the vote to convict is a vote to convict and remove the president, and last I heard, the Democrats think that is Joe Biden. . . . or do they?
Is this impeachment trial an attempt to make sure it the fraud is uncovered that Trump wouldn't be President ?

Buffalo shooting: Gunman reportedly opens fire inside Minnesota health clinic
A gunman opened fire inside a Minnesota health clinic Tuesday morning leaving at least five people critically wounded — and then at least one bomb went off inside the facility, according to police and reports.
https://nypost.com/2021/02/09/gunman-reportedly-opens-fire-inside-allina-health-clinic-in-buffalo/
Turns out that clinic just so happens to be where the MN Supreme Court Justice's wife worked, whose daughter recently was found dead in the parking lot outside her sorority. Extreme weirdness.

No sweat... they just want a majority vote to “establish” Trump was in an insurrection. The they us the 14th Amendment to ban him from running again.
How they prove the insurrection is by a couple dupes getting railroaded in DC courts for what AnteFa did at the Capitol... the fact that many Dems (including VP Harris) contribute to the bail and defense funds of actual AnteFa / BLM terrorists gets pushed under the nearest rug.

Republicans will vote to acquit by relying on the defensible but unconvincing argument that a trial of an out-of-office President is not Constitutional.
Well, there's also the small matter that nothing Trump said or did could remotely be called incitement, and anti-Trump antifa types were well-represented among the protestors, who arrived while Trump was still speaking a mile away (and probably were never at the rally). But otherwise, yeah, guilty.

--Republicans will vote to acquit by relying on the defensible but unconvincing argument that a trial of an out-of-office President is not Constitutional.--
Along with the minor issue of the indictment being a load of horse shit.
Incitement to riot is an actual crime. Is there any court on earth, let alone DA, who would charge or convict someone for saying "let's go peaceably assemble" were politics not involved?
How can anyone take an indictment seriously when it asserts a victim of the so called insurrection was killed by a blow from a fire extinguisher when the FBI says there is no evidence of this and the coroner apparently found no evidence of blunt force trauma?
For all they know the guy had a pre existing aneurysm but apparently Trump causes aneurysms too. I guess he does in his enemies but Sicknick was a supporter.

Good afternoon! We are # 96,365 on the Sarasota County Covid vaccine list. Gov. DeSantis put a stop to "vaccine tourism" because non Florida residents were receiving the vaccine. Florida residents are county shopping, including people we know who have traveled 100 miles to another county to receive the vaccine. Guess who traveled 100 miles to receive a vaccine? Sarasota County resident Stephen King and his wife, who own two houses on Casey Key, traveled to Pasco County to receive their vaccines. I was reading the Sarasota Herald Tribune online and started sputtering. Hubby asked, what is wrong? King, who called DeSantis an idiot on Twitter and also after congratulating the Tampa Bay Bucs told the people celebrating to put on their f***ing masks!!!
I said to hubby "you know the best thing about this? He doesn't pay Maine state income taxes if he's a resident of Florida!" Ha!

It's obvious horseshit like that, that will degrade the reputation of the military to that of scientists in short order.
How will diversity and inclusion strengthen the workforce and quality of their analysis? Since the progs have educated us that only same race people can truly understand each other we need pretty much zero black and hispanic recruits, right? Because black Africa and Latin America are not exactly likely to be our main adversaries. We should only be recruiting europeans for Russia and Asians for China; our two main enemies. Isn't that how this works?
And isn't equity kind of the opposite of merit? So how could equity which rewards a person based on their skin color and supposed hurdles rather than merit be critical to the success of anything other than prog apple polishing?
