Byck has recently used her platform to encourage “white folks” to read Washingtonian articles providing education on how to “be anti-racist” and identify “systems of oppression”.
Corruption has been enshrined by the Supreme Court. At a time when there is widespread distrust of government, the Supremes just signed, sealed and delivered the death warrant for free and fair elections. What happened to ACB and Kavanaugh?
I expect Trump to announce his run for POTUS at CPAC because once you are a candidate you can't attack or indict him (think Joe Biden) without interfering in an election.
Young People of Color seem to be the new group to be hyped in policymaking. Seems offensive to me.
America's youngest workers, particularly young adults of color, are facing the most dire employment prospects since the Great Depression. As our nation looks toward recovery, and policymakers and investors seek strategies to build stronger connections to economic opportunity for young workers of color, we’d like to highlight the promise of work-based learning (WBL) opportunities:
WBL can help young adults of color get the experience, education, credentials, and relationships necessary to succeed in the workforce, now and in the future.
WBL can provide young adults of color an entry point into jobs in industries where they have been historically underrepresented. WBL can provide opportunities for young adults to demonstrate their value and abilities to employers and to change biases around hiring and career advancement.
In this research report, we describe how four organizations involved with the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s Generation Work initiative engage with young adults and employers to design and manage WBL opportunities.
Read “Unpacking the Work of Work-Based Learning” to learn about the behind-the-scenes programming and relationship-building work that practitioners engage in with employers. We describe how practitioners have tailored their programs to meet the needs of young adults of color and to support employers in their work to develop, structure, and support WBL opportunities.
What hope do WeThePeople have once ALL THREE of the checks and balances are corrupted at the same time both at the Federal Level and at most of the State Levels too?
Hi all! Finally getting back online after an interesting week in central Texas. We had no power from 2 am Monday morning until 3 pm Thursday afternoon. We did have running water, including hot water, from our gas water heater.
But it was very very cold in the house and eventually got down into the 30s indoors. Fortunately we had enough warm camping gear and flashlights/candles and food. Felt like we spent the entire time trying to be warm. Would have been much smarter to get outside and move around more often.
Anyway, pipes made it through okay (wrapped/dripping) and that was the greatest concern.
It's now in the 70s and absolutely beautiful, expect for the frozen vegetation which isn't so pretty.
I enjoyed being offline. Even when I heard that Rush died I was glad to not be near the internet. It was good to think of him and remember him without exposure to nonsense from the left.
Thanks to narciso and Extraneus for checking in!
Hope all is well with JOM.
In the wake of COVID-19 and our nation’s reckoning with racial injustice and inequity,we find ourselves in this moment in our history that shouldn’t be wasted. WBL opportunities for young adults of color will be more important now than ever. The ongoing impact of systemic racism on education and employment is strikingly visible in the pandemic economy.Young adults of color remain among those most significantly impacted by the COVID-19 recession —with unemployment rates near 20%for women and up to 25%for men among 16-to-24-year-old Black, Latinx, and mixed-race workers.12Additionally, because a high concentration of young adults worked in the retail and hospitality industries before the pandemic, there is great uncertainty whether there will be jobs for them to return to.
We have an opportunity to redesign systems and structures in ways that are race-conscious, address inequities, and benefit everyone. Race-conscious investments in WBL opportunities will help ensure that the most diverse generation of workers in US history are equitably prepared for and connected to good job opportunities.
Race-consciousness as the basis for restructuring the economy and society. We're along way from Bakke.

Since Rush passed away (and my DH 2 years ago) I've been formulating a question to ask God when I get to heaven. Why He leaves awful people like Soros here and takes home so many good ones. I know He has a plan that I cannot see or imagine.
Hey RSE, I was in your neck of the woods this morning for the signing/closing on this house. Glenridge Pt Pkwy. I waved on the way by!
One closing down, one to go on Friday. The moving truck arrived on time this morning. Tomorrow is D-Day. We are in a hotel Tuesday and Wed nights here. Then Port Charlotte on Thursday. Whee!

That the righteous is taken away from evil.
He shall enter into peace;

Each one walking in his uprightness.
Good afternoon! Good to hear from you Porch! We have a niece in Austin who had already decided to move back up north before the Texas weather event. She plans on going to grad school in Boston. She had no food in her house last week and had invited friends to stay with her!
Porch, how did your kids cope? Did they think it was an adventure to be "camping out" inside the house?
Steph-You were about a mile and a half or so from my house. One of my walks is to hike up to N'side, cross 400, loop through that fiserv pkg lot, and then cross 400 again before eventually heading P'ree dunwoody.
The lake in that pkg lot/office complex has a family of geese hatched during lockdown. The mother and father would be the beginning and end and those goslings marched behind one another just like make way for ducklings.
I enjoyed being a resident of Fla all those years. Make sure you fully understand all the different types of insurance in Fla. I have a friend who sent me an email after she had made an offer on beachfront home getting ready to close asking me to explain to her about flood insurance.
Had to explain there is a cap on what flood will cover which is a problem in a storm surge and that with Fla wind coverage there is a % that must be funded out of pocket before insurance kicks in. It's not a gross dollar amount.
As I noted yesterday listening to geoff duncan was enough to make me want to flee the state.
Stephanie, there are several beachy restaurants at Englewood Beach. Veterans Blvd. becomes EL Jobean/776 at the U.S.41 light. (straight thru) It is a bit of a drive,as is Venice. So, when you're settled we'll tell you about our favorite places. The area around Murdock Circle (shopping area) has all the usual chain restaurants.
If I understand the TGA properly it's like a Strategic Petroleum Dollar Reserve that the Fed uses to flood the market with barrels of dollars as the WH does the oil market with barrels of oil.
Except that I believe the TGA is under the control of Treasury, so the decision can be based entirely on political expediency rather than any economic rationale. At this point, though, there's little difference, as the Fed just seems to be doing the bidding of the Treasury anyway.
RSE, we are in flood zone X. Not an issue. The house has a new roof and has the latest hurricane retro fits, so we got a break on the homeowner's. New HVAC, new pool equipment.
There are a number of drawdown categories at SPR and the Naval Reserve in CA. But the last emergency drawdown was the 2011 coordinated release under IEA ( International). But there are yearly sales to refiners for topping-off.
Just got off the phone with Ted Cruz's office. I asked them to find their biggest badass aide and send him down to slap Chuck Schumer upside the head. They got a big chuckle out of it. Tried 3 of Schumer's offices all were not answering because of covid.
If McTurtle actually was any kind of leader, and if the GOP had any dignity, or common sense, or balls, they would vote as a bloc against every single one of Biden's nominees, no matter who they are.
Make the Dems stay together and vote unanimously, and make Harris break every tie, and make the Dems 100% own every one of these criminal jackasses nominated by an illegitimate president.
Fine, we don't have the votes to stop them, at least our side doesn't have to voluntarily collaborate.
Excellent idea. But we know that this crew will have the wheeler-dealers, traitors, and others who will trade a vote so that Manchin can vote no in return for some crooked favor.
I look forward to hearing the President speak on Sunday.
A successful rancher died and left everything to his devoted wife.
She was a very good-looking woman and determined to keep the ranch, but knew very little about ranching, so she decided to place an ad in the newspaper for a ranch hand…
Two cowboys applied for the job. One was gay and the other a drunk.
She thought long and hard about it, and when no one else applied she decided to hire the gay guy, figuring it would be safer to have him around the house than the drunk.
He proved to be a hard worker who put in long hours every day and knew a lot about ranching..
For weeks, the two of them worked, and the ranch was doing very well.
Then one day, the rancher's widow said to the hired hand, "You have done a really good job, and the ranch looks great.
You should go into town and kick up your heels.” The hired hand readily agreed and went into town one Saturday night.
One o'clock came, however, and he didn't return.
Two o'clock and no hired hand.
Finally he returned around two-thirty, and upon entering the room, he found the rancher's widow sitting by the fireplace with a glass of wine, waiting for him.
She quietly called him over to her.. "Unbutton my blouse and take it off," she said.
Trembling, he did as she directed. "Now take off my boots.”
He did as she asked, ever so slowly.. “Now take off my socks.”
He removed each gently and placed them neatly by her boots.
"Now take off my skirt.”
He slowly unbuttoned it, constantly watching her eyes in the fire light.
"Now take off my bra..”
Again, with trembling hands, he did as he was told and dropped
it to the floor.
Then she looked at him and said, "If you ever wear my clothes into town again, you're fired.”
Thanks to see how we're doing here in the Dallas area. My hubby and I have been fine. Had a few days when they alternated having heat on and off . 2 of our sons and one of the girlfriends stayed with us as they had no heat or water. Our oldest son's son's family fared the worse as they had no heat at all for over a day. Thankfully our DIL's sister and husband were spending the weekend in Austin so son and family moved to their house where it was nice and warm. Our 3 grandkids loved playing in the snow and going a whole week without school.
Today was a glorious day, sunny nice and warm.
Today was the 1st day I walked land was able to catch up with Rush's podcasts. I'lve cried every day thinking about him being gone. Have listed to his podcasts from the day he started. That's going to take me longer to get over.
Glad you are all doing well. I'm going to try hard to keep in touch every day. This is a special group and I want to do a better job of keeping in touch. Blessings to you all.
Glad you are fine. Can you post a link to Rush’s podcasts? Can’t help but think he is better off without all this BS. Mark Steyn hosted his show today, and his wife Katherine was his guest!
Good morning and First!

More that partly answers OL question.

Thinking about Buckeye's Mitch Rapp and the 500 yard solution to problems, I have taken to a new trick when having trouble falling asleep.
Instead of counting sheep (since that makes me think about all of my neighbors and fellow citizens and that makes me so mad I really cannot fall asleep), I challenge myself to name 25 people who if disappeared would do the most good. If still awake, I think of the next group of 25 and so on.
I think my wife wonders why I now sleep with a smile on my face.

Posted by: Marlene | February 22, 2021 at 02:33 PM

So there was this professional assassin that charged $10,000 per bullet.
A guy comes up to him in the bar one day and says, "Are you the guy who charges $10,000 a bullet?"
"Yup."
"What if you miss?"
He looks at the man, deadly serious. "I don't miss..."
"Okay, we'll I've got $20,000. I just found out my wife is having an affair with my best friend. They're at the motel together right now."
"Let's go," the assassin says.
So they drive to a store across the street from the motel and climb up on the roof. The assassin takes out his rifle and attaches the scope.
"They're in room 21. I want you to shoot her in the head, and I want you to blow his dick off."
The assassin looks through his scope. He keeps staring for several minutes, not taking the shot.
"Well? What are you waiting for!?" the husband asks.
"Hold on a minute. I think I can save you $10,000."

If I understand the TGA properly it's like a
StrategicPetroleum Dollar Reserve that the Fed uses to flood the market with barrels of dollars as the WH does the oil market with barrels of oil.Except that I believe the TGA is under the control of Treasury, so the decision can be based entirely on political expediency rather than any economic rationale. At this point, though, there's little difference, as the Fed just seems to be doing the bidding of the Treasury anyway.
