Bushes peeps... “please clap”. Yawn.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

--Dozens of Republicans in former President George W. Bush’s administration are leaving the party...--

This is rather like a colonial paper letting us know dozens of former patriots are leaving to become Loyalists after that darn Declaration of Independence was signed.
It gives us a clear view of their character and priorities, but not in the way they think it does.

jimmyk

Bush's peeps are tucking tail?

So maybe we don't need a new MAGA party. Where are the Bushies running to?

And now for something completely different (where is this phrase from).

Our fridge recently died in a similar fashion. The freezer first then the fridge. It's only 12 years old and I couldn't get anyone to even look at it claiming a lawsuit was preventing the LG from service. Bought a Frigidaire which has a similar layout. But I hate the ice tray, everytime I pull it out, ice falls out the back and onto the floor.

It raises the question [by a risk management guy] I have had from the start; how do the Reddit kids get out of GME's sky high valuations? Because it remains a dead end brick and mortar store in dead end brick and mortar malls and will soon be closer to $4 than $400 again, especially when the shorts wiggle free or close out their positions by any means necessary or available.

Pinandpuller

This is weird. In the 70’s heroin was cut with talc. Talc isn’t blood soluble so it migrates to the pulmonary arteries and ended up giving the heroin addict pulmonary hypertension.

MissMarple2

Ignatz,

I forced myself to read all of the Zerohedge article and also the discussion on the word timshel.

My thoughts:

1. The Zerohedge guy is ignoring his own advice, given the level of condescension in that article and is, unbeknownst to him I suppose, tempting those younger Reddit investors to sin. He is the very type of person that those kids will read (or hear) and say, "Oh, yeah? Watch THIS!" creating even more chaos in the markets.

2. I thought about Gamestop and malls, and wondered if they are beginning to have a resurgence in sales of physical games and consoles. If you have to work from home, using your own internet connection through a hot spot or whatever, perhaps you would prefer your teen not use your home connection but an off-line console set-up.

This would create a market for used games and consoles not realized by someone who is unfamiliar with the financial crush middle class people are in. I don't know if that's true, but I don't know Gamestop's sales figures so I just put it out as a theory.

3. Malls themselves are currently undergoing financial struggles. Seems to me that the major attraction of them around here was that you could do your shopping without having to go in and out of weather as you went from store to store. Around here, they became places where teens congregated when there wasn't a social event like a football or basketball game, and the presence of a GameStop store made a lot of sense.

The people who run the Big Tech firms, the Wall Street hedge funds, and most of the Democrat party have NO idea how this abrupt change to an isolated lifestyle is driving people nuts. It's especially depressing in large cities where there isn't even a backyard to run around in. If I were a mayor and wanted to be re-elected, I would open up the malls and small businesses and if it required a major fight with the CDC or ny governor or the media, so what.

And if I were GameStop, I would add to my inventory books on crafts, used comics, old-timey series like Tom Hardy and Nancy Drew, and a lot of COLOR. Target and Borders, the only two retail establishments I have been to recently, are all whites, grays, and pale pastels in everything from decor to book covers.

I see I have ranted on for a bit so will go make myself a cup of decaf and clean up the kitchen.

Having watched both videos, I found the kid Marine from Brooklyn reciting it to his drill sergeant and the platoon in the pouring rain more moving. To my mind, Kenneth Branagh chewed the scenery up a bit much in that production.

Also, the use of the speech as a rallying cry to a bunch of Marine recruits seemed more appropriate to what is going on with the small investors,

If we are mark'd to die, we are enow

By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;
It yearns me not if men my garments wear;
Such outward things dwell not in my desires:
But if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive.
No, faith, my coz, wish not a man from England:
God's peace! I would not lose so great an honour
As one man more, methinks, would share from me
For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!
Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host,

Question[s] for jimmyk and/or mel or OL or anyone who wants to shove their oar in;
How and when does the debt bomb detonate?
If the market or economy crashes we know the Fed will intervene again.
We also know that what can't continue won't.
So how or can the Fed ever get out of this regime without total catastrophe?
How long can they keep the plates spinning?
Does the Fed even have the capacity to cause enough inflation anymore to inflate our debt away? All they seem to do now is cause bubbles not general inflation.
How do we end the pernicious and parasitic financialization of the economy?

I love that since our host has been kicked off of that place that shall not be named that he is posting more frequently here. Welcome back TM. I may disagree with you, but here we can have a free-flowing debate. That’s how it’s supposed to be.

I can’t keep up with all the posts. I skimmed. I forgot most of my points, so I will keep it simple.

My SIL, who is not political, and who one would think is a liberal, told a customer who spouted off about “misogynistic, racist, and anti-Semitic Trump supporters,” said that she believes many people vote for one item, such as abortion, and they voted for Trump over Biden for that reason. And many other reasons like that. Also that her husband voted for Trump and he’s not a racist or a misogynist. So please give it a rest.

I was not working to hear this. When I asked how the customer took it, she said, “He was quite taken aback.”

LOL, if you knew my SIL, she followed the Grateful Dead for years, and she is so open to others’ opinions. I used to think she was crazy. Now I admire her, and her willingness to opine. It’s a crazy world when the ones who never opined are now the ones speaking up.

That’s a good sign.
