Will there ever be a Biden Day? A Trump Day? Doubtful. Reagan and FDR have a shot though.

-Kept peace with a resolutely non-interventionist foreign policy.
-Tax and regulatory policies that mainstream GOPers usually strongly hail when pushed by a POTUS other than Trump.
-Best economy for minorities since. . ., well, in the US, at least, since forever.
-Kept resolute support of international trading system, but provided leavening of airy fairy one worldism by negotiation of two and three cornered deals.
-Brought Iran close to collapse (of course, Biden will save the mullahs).
-Quietly left office after electoral college vote was certified by Congress.
-Brought classy, elegant immigrant to White House as First Lady.
Now that I think of it, Biden deserves a day already. He probably destroyed more jobs on his first day in office than any other POTUS in history. Historic achievement.
How many power plants does Biden plan to shut down?
All of those poor solar and wind installations all froze up and useless. There would seem to be a lesson in there somewhere, but I'm sure they're just gonna double down on the stupid.

What in the hell is this? Surely this isn't real!
Good afternoon! I've been watching shows about Washington and Lincoln today between doing housework and going to Petco for dog food. I doubt we'll see a Washington or Lincoln in our lifetimes. One of the statements from a talking head historian was that we were a "well-behaved" British colony. Until we weren't. :) The punitive taxation and other measures by the Brits pushed the "well-behaved" colonists to take drastic measures.
Sounds familiar.
The press conference @NYGovCuomo held regarding the victims & family members of his directives that cost thousands of lives was a lawyer talking not a Governor. He threw everyone under the bus except #fredo @ChrisCuomo & showed no ownership or responsibility. #GoCuomo! #Resign!
THIS MONTH we learned that Tesla, a $400 billion public company run by one of the richest people in the world, has done away with its media relations department—effectively formalizing an informal policy of ignoring reporters.
Saw this and thought I was reading Atlas Shrugged again. Note to self: do not ride on a train through a long tunnel while the Progs are in charge...
"Blackouts Hit 13 States Beyond Texas in Deepening Power Crisis>
Blackouts are spreading across the central U.S. as an energy crisis that has already brought Texas’s power grid to its knees deepens.
The Southwest Power Pool, which controls a power grid spanning 14 states from North Dakota to Oklahoma, ordered utilities to start rotating outages, after exhausting all other options to protect its massive system from failing amid an unprecedented cold blast. Millions of homes and businesses in Texas are already without electricity, and the grid operator there has warned they may be in the dark through Tuesday as temperatures are forecast to remain low."
This is an instructive incident for what would happen if the Chinese shut down the entire US grid, which is becoming more likely the more I read on how much software and Chinese parts are used by companies associated with the power grid.
To Sid's question about how Biden could stop a private project like Keystone with an EO, JiB's response about the gazillion Federal Permits is the answer.
How can a state with more BTU's under its feet run out of heat? Prog AGW thinking and about a decade of ranting, and poof.
The Free Market faced with distributing a scarce resource (Covid shots) could produce an Optimum Solution (most benefit, least waste) in about a day. Let the government do the same, and one learns quickly how entire countries can run out of toilet paper. Here in super rich high tech over regulated Montgomery County MD, people from certain zip codes are not even on the horizon for getting shots. we observe the rule seems to be the number of months you wait will be directly related to the number of golf courses within two miles of your house.

Gov Cuomo just blamed my uncle for dying of COVID in a nursing home and blamed my family for not being tough enough to deal with it.
MM "This is an instructive incident for what would happen if the Chinese shut down the entire US grid"
No doubt that is true, MM.
But just like diverting blame for COVID on the CCP, and other examples of shifting responsibility for outcomes onto others, even elections, all of these things, even when bad actors are involved, fall under our own control since we can anticipate such things and prepare for them. But that is so old fashioned.
This is true, although I doubt very many Texans were aware of the source of their electricity before this. Furthermore, like most Texans, even though I know where our electricity here comes from, I have no idea who has a financial interest in the power company nor how they run their plants.
I despise those turbines and am always on the lookout for any hints they are being considered here. I have been warning for years that climate always changes and we were long overdue for an ice age.
Even now, the global warming believers are on twitter saying that this horrific storm and cold is to be expected, as climate change causes extremes in temperatures. Anyone who knows me around here knows better than to say that to my face, as I am likely to plant them a smack up the side of the head.

China overtook the U.S. to become the top movie market last year, and the pandemic has put even more pressure on Hollywood studios to win over that audience.
If one state has everything left-liberals hate, it’s Florida. Floridians have no income tax, relaxed shutdown rules and, most egregiously of all, Florida men. I’m not talking about the colorful characters who inspired the ‘Florida man’ meme with their constant crimes and shenanigans. I’m referring to three different Florida men: the GOAT, the Governor and the Donald.
Let’s start with the GOAT, Tom Brady. When the 43-year-old walked into Raymond James Stadium last weekend, he was wearing earbuds, shades and a Tom Ford jacket — but he was missing a mask.
Uh oh. The Super Bowl had not even started and Tom had already sent the Twitter tattletales into a tailspin. Vice President Kamala Harris’s niece Meena kicked off the mask-shaming by tweeting, ‘What’s Tom doing without a damn mask?’ Droves of concerned citizens, including groups Moms Demand Action, pounced on this heinous sin. Little did they know, it was about to get even worse.
After the Tampa Bay Buccaneers crushed the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9, Brady walked onto the field to hug his teammates and find his family. You guessed it: no mask, no face shield, big problem.
It is likely Brady and the other players were tested prior to the game. Such details are irrelevant to the perpetually offended. After all, President Biden has been vaccinated and he still plans on wearing a mask for the next year. Logic doesn’t sell as well as panic porn.
A few days later the team had a championship boat parade in Tampa. The scene was gloriously normal, a flashback to our pre-pandemic world. It was a bunch of happy people hanging out. From the look of Brady afterwards, maybe having ‘a little avocado tequila’.
Just like his locker-room entrance and his celebrations on the field, Brady must have known his actions would incense the blue-check marks monitoring the festivities from their apartments in DC. So why didn’t he care?
Perhaps Brady has figured out that his time is better spent trying to make himself happy as opposed to trying to make the COVID scolds less mad. The latter is a fruitless endeavor.
For perhaps the same reason, Gov. Ron DeSantis, when asked if he was concerned about the large crowds celebrating after the game, said, ‘The media is worried about that, obviously. You don’t care as much if it’s a “peaceful protest’, then it’s fine. You don’t care as much if they’re celebrating a Biden election. You only care about it if it’s people you don’t like. I’m a Bucs fan. I’m damn proud of what they did.’
Like Donald J. Trump, DeSantis and Brady are both used to being hated, loved, blamed and praised. But these Florida men know something vital that every American should learn: you do not need left-wing media approval to succeed.
Jane, y'all shoulda gone to Naples Bay Resort. ZERO mask requirements there. Shemp was aghast that Naples had supermarkets where the cashiers and customers were non-masked. LOL
In an interview on Sunday, Texas Republican Party Chairman Lt. Col. Allen West called Joe Biden’s immigration plans an “imminent danger” to the Lone Star State.
Everyday up here we ask customers if they will be going to FL as usual. “No way, it’s crazy down there!” Sigh. We all just look at each other after they leave. Can we go? Maybe we could stay at your nice place. We promise to clean!
Oh well, we just breathe different air here in the store, and have been all along. It’s the only explanation, other than people are losing their minds! Funny how none of us have missed a day through it all. (Well son missed first month, but has been over that ever since. And the older guys - we paid them to stay away the first few months).
I am reading a book my son gave me last year. “Love and Hate in Jamestown” by David A Price. I am only twenty pages in, and it’s very good so far.
No offense intended to all who are dealing with storms, freezing temps, and power outages, but we all need to toughen up a bit. Every time I read a book about the pre-energy days, I think “there but for the grace of God go I.”
Living in New England is expensive, but most of us have housing that can handle all kinds of weather. Naturally it’s misting here. Hang in there all of you in Texas, Oklahoma, and all the other cold and snowy areas!
No offense taken. We haven't had a storm here like this since 1978, and usually our coldest temps are in the low 20's for a couple of days.
We were all prepared and snug here, but the younger people are beside themselves. Either they get in wrecks because they don't know how to drive in bad weather, or they get stuck in their driveways or parking lots.
One of the "Little House on the Prairie" books was called "The Long Winter", which made me learn at an early age how tough our ancestors were.
MissM, I read “The Long Winter” to my kids, along with all of the other Ingalls Wilder stories. I certainly am glad for our modern comforts. It’s so awful that there are so many idiots standing in the way. So now we have rolling blackouts in freezing Texas and cancelled pipelines. We should all be living in so much comfort, at a much lower cost.
MissM, somewhere if I find my old iphone, I have a photo of my youngest standing in late March on the top of a snow pile about 15 feet high at the end of our driveway. That was maybe four years ago. Boston had record breaking snow that winter, and on the Cape we had more (but not a city, so not as newsy). It snowed constantly through the end of March. She looked like she was in the middle of the maple tree branches. It was crazy, but also a fun memory. My SIL and I would carpool into work together. We were the only ones on the road it seemed. If I find all of the pics I will send them to you.
Does anybody know the list of senators that were scheduled to object to electoral college votes on Jan 6th? I found this TET article which discusses some of them, but it's not the complete list:
Nothing easier on the planet than driving across Florida! Beautiful day. No traffic. Nothing harder on the planet than finding the Marriott and they still won’t let me check in! How rude! I am at the pool, but mt suitcase, and suit are in the car!

Old Lurker,
This is true, although I doubt very many Texans were aware of the source of their electricity before this.

This is not the time to go to a resort - even in Florida. The paranoia is thru the roof! “Put your mask above your nose!

No service anywhere and at this price it should be thru the roof! I’m very surprised.
BUT and it’s a big but - very nice to be with family - and have a room overlooking the ocean.

I'm a Florida man and proud of it:)

Jane and all Floridians,
Everyday up here we ask customers if they will be going to FL as usual.

Posted by: CCGirl | February 15, 2021 at 07:23 PM
CCGirl,
No offense taken.
Posted by: MissMarple2 | February 15, 2021 at 07:36 PM
MissM, I read “The Long Winter” to my kids, along with all of the other Ingalls Wilder stories. I certainly am glad for our modern comforts. It’s so awful that there are so many idiots standing in the way. So now we have rolling blackouts in freezing Texas and cancelled pipelines. We should all be living in so much comfort, at a much lower cost.
Preaching to the choir, I know.
Posted by: CCGirl | February 15, 2021 at 07:42 PM
MissM, somewhere if I find my old iphone, I have a photo of my youngest standing in late March on the top of a snow pile about 15 feet high at the end of our driveway. That was maybe four years ago. Boston had record breaking snow that winter, and on the Cape we had more (but not a city, so not as newsy). It snowed constantly through the end of March. She looked like she was in the middle of the maple tree branches. It was crazy, but also a fun memory. My SIL and I would carpool into work together. We were the only ones on the road it seemed. If I find all of the pics I will send them to you.
