Klein: When Yeltsin abolished the Soviet Union, the “loaded gun” that had forced the development of the [Marshall] plan was disarmed. Without it, capitalism was suddenly free to lapse into its most savage form … around the world… [T]he free market now had a global monopoly…
rse, Mom--I so wish I could join you for lunch or anything--I'm not doing my usual driving through because when I do generally do that in late July through early August, my folks (ages 87 and 90) have instead decided on a cruise round Norway. Pin, that means I'll miss you this year too--but I just potted the basil, which had roots a-plenty, so I'll send you a shot regarding your shoot (aha!) when it's a fine and becoming thing.

13 billion years ago the universe was only ~600 million years old and vastly smaller than it is now. Since it was vastly smaller when the light from that quasar was emitted how is it that light did not pass us long ago when the distance to the Milky Way was presumably a tiny fraction of 13 gly?

I told red last week to quit calling it a pandemic and recognize it will be endemic and get on with life. Hubby said one of the main reasons he got vaccinated was so that the girls would get on with their lives and not worry about him.
Porch--
This quote is from same document I put up yesterday and the complete version is on the blog, but the blackouts in Texas are being used as the rationale to TRUST Government.
#FrameOn
Framing recommendations for changing the conversation on social issues
The events of January 6, 2020, made clear that government is not simply a building but a set of fundamental ideas that make up the backbone of our country. The rolling blackouts and power outages in Texas have highlighted that while public infrastructures need investment and redress, only the government can meet our public needs.
Here is a set of framing strategies that can build public faith in government and keep the momentum going:
1. Explain what government is and what it does by naming the public structures it creates and supports, such as highways, schools, libraries, and public health agencies.
2. Make it clear that these are roles that only government can fill.
3. Avoid falling into the trap of conveying the sense that our public systems are broken beyond repair.
4. Focus attention on how we can repair the public systems that we need to respond effectively to our collective challenges and support shared progress and prosperity.
Quick Tip: Try using the Public Structures metaphor to talk about government. This metaphor helps people recognize government as a network of critical systems, such as schools, libraries, and public health agencies. The metaphor increases people’s understanding that government can and should be responsible for protecting and improving our wellbeing, safety, stability, and prosperity.
Our country’s prosperity and quality of life depend on the public structures that we have created to keep society going. Structures like health and safety agencies have been put to the test during the pandemic, but their role remains crucial in keeping us all safe. Businesses, nonprofits, and individuals can all play a part in getting our country back on track, but only government has the reach and funding to properly and more equitably direct resources into vaccines, rollout, and economic recovery. Government is not perfect, but it can be fixed to ensure it works for everyone. We must continue to hold our elected officials accountable and work with them to heal and rebuild.
Video at ilnk. The teachers unions are going to ensure Newsom's recall. When people are so mad they are following and taping the hypocritical actions of a union president, you know Californians are really upset!

No doubt you are right. I have been wrestling with trying to get into my on line electric company account. I discovered that Indianapolis Power and Light is now AES.
I don't know who that is, so am going to investigate.
The level of coordination of the evil is really something. An older man of Thai extraction was beaten to death in San Francisco, and another Asian man was beaten in Oakland specifically because they were Asian and the Marxists held protests against white supremacy, except that in both cases the assailants were black.
The WSJ had an op/ed this morning by the author of a recent study showing that the discrimination against anyone with conservative beliefs in academia is completely out of control.
And in a case that was under my radar the WSJ again points out the perversion of the Voting Rights Act by the Democrats. There is a case before the Supreme Court, apparently.
Well, some people got upset at stuff Tom McGuire was posting on Twitter and in his articles. They didn't feel like they could support someone they disagreed with so much.
I understand the point. I go over and post there from time to time. My personal preference is to stay here and post over there from time to time, as I do now. Many people lurk here and do not post at all. I happen to know of at least two personally, who use this as a site to get links to important stories.
While I disagree with the site owner on most takes on Trump, I feel that this platform has a better chance of getting visibility, so I am not leaving.

If you are like me and a bit tired of your kids asking why you are in no hurry to get vaccine, here https://nofrakkingconsensus.com/2021/03/01/who-died-after-receiving-covid-vaccines/

The Left really are a poisonous virus.

What is the reason people are migrating over to elevendayempire.com/JOM2?
Posted by: Jim Eagle | March 01, 2021 at 11:26 AM
Jack,
Well, some people got upset at stuff Tom McGuire was posting on Twitter and in his articles.

So only the government can run schools?
In fact every single thing on that list, including highways would be better run by the private sector than the government.
