This may be a death knell for the AZ vaccine, in Europe and the US anyway:
Germany suspends use of AstraZeneca’s Covid shot for the under-60s, dealing another blow to drugmaker
Germany has suspended use of the coronavirus vaccine created by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford in the under-60s, due to renewed concerns over reports of blood clots.
The move comes after the country’s medicines regulator found 31 cases of a rare type of blood clot in a small number of people immunized with the coronavirus vaccine produced by the Anglo-Swedish drugmaker. The suspension is likely to deal yet another blow to its vaccine’s reputation.
It seems like only yesterday the Euro regulators were only allowing the AZ vaccine for the under-65 crowd, saying the data for oldsters was too sparse. But that was late January!
Well. No one will blame these bureaucrats if thousands die of COVID and this action may even prevent a few dozen deaths from a weird clotting disease. Weird the Brits aren't seeing it in there much larger vaccinated population, but do we trust them to tell the truth?
As to the US, AZ is preparing their trial data but has not yet applied for an EUA. As I understand it, the US vaccine supply situation is already in good shape between Pfizer, Moderna and J&J. We bet on a lot of horses, a lot have crossed the line, and we may not need the AZ product (which people won't take anyway.) And Novavax is lurking in the wings!
For the rest of the world, this is a blow. AZ used refrigerator storage, which made distribution easier in less developed countries.
BONUS SPECULATION: My understanding is that if the US approves an EUA for the AZ vaccine they are contractually obliged to deliver (and the US to pay for) 300MM doses. Or that may be a US option to buy, and we could decline.
I suppose we could buy them and donate them to the global organization, COVAX. Or we could quietly suggest to AZ that a US rejection of their EUA is likely, so just hold off.
Whatever the science says, Xiden will do the opposite.

It's worse than the numbers. How much of the economy is now engaged in worthless activities under the guise of fighting the scary pandemic? It wouldn't surprise me if 10% of GDP is being devoted to the equivalent of paying people to dig holes and then to fill them up again.

One of President Joe Biden's dogs allegedly pooped on the floor of the White House on Wednesday, according to a pool report. The incident took place outside the Palm Room doors in front of the Diplomatic Room, the report said. "There was dog poo on the floor. It's unclear which dog was responsible for it," quoted CBS White House reporter Kathryn Watson.

An out of state dealer has to get the go ahead from CA to send a firearm to a CA dealer. CA told him not to ship because of some technical glitch. It's a glitch because all my stuff is current.
Emailed the CA DOJ two days ago. No response.
Called them yesterday. Took me 15 minutes to get to the menu to talk to a human being. Spent 45 minutes on hold waiting for a human being until I had to go.
Spent 15 minutes this morning maneuvering like a spider monkey through their phone tree to finally get to the button where I can talk to a human being again. No hold this time. It's a holiday! What holiday is on a Wednesday in March you might ask? Why it's Cesar Chavez's birthday.

I think one of our primary problems is the rational have a hard time understanding how easily the irrational can go from here to there.
To a rational person an actual communist or a Nazi is like an alien being because we know our minds would never get to that point.
But to an ideologue who spends his life being pulled back and forth on the clothes line of transitory political fashion such shifts are not only possible they are inevitable...and, in their heart of hearts, desirable. At some level all ideologues know to reach true nirvana will eventually require the liquidation of the kulaks and they've made their peace with that by convincing themselves the kulaks are preventing nirvana for the rest of mankind.
And since the political equation of the true believing ideologue is always "if A does not give the results desired, A² will. And if A² doesn't, A³ will....and so on until we reach A∞, if my fellow recalcitrant humans prove less than receptive to A in any form" we find ourselves in periods of accelerating idiocy and irrationality, such as the present.
There is no "here" that "it" can't happen when people are in the grip of the scourge of mankind, which is ideology of whatever form. All of the mortal sins can produce bad things, but it is the disordered personality writ large onto a mass population that ideologies represent, that unleashes the irrational blood letting that the 20th century brought to a new level.
Seems the 21st may be rolling up its sleeves and looking for someone to hold its beer.

Sounds like Presidential Timber:
This Foucault scandal has led me to read about the sexual deviancies of other figures of the postmodern left. JP Sartre and de Beauvoir not only passionately promoted pedophilia, but they were child rapists. Keep this in mind when you read about the worldview they defend.

Want to Kroger where they were out of several advertised items, but I did manage with digital coupons tho cut my bill from $89 to $68!
Now sitting in the car while daughter picks up some vegetarian stuff at the Indian/Chin/Burmese grocery down near my old farm.

“I am not happy about the rebirth of the Jesuits...Swarms of them will present themselves under more disguises ever taken by even a chief of the Bohemians, as printers, writers, publishers, school teachers, etc. If ever an association of people deserved eternal damnation, on earth and in hell, it is the Society of Loyola. Yet, with our system of religious liberty, we can but offer them a refuge.”—John Adams
“Like you [John Adams], I object to the Jesuits reestablishment which makes light give way to darkness.”—Thomas Jefferson
