I just got back from taking the Mrs. to get her 1st Pfizer jab. Her HMO is using the big, mostly empty TripAdvisor HQ for the vaccine clinic. TripAdvisor let 900-something employees go last year due to the shutdown, 11 days after Forbes dubbed them the country's "Best Midsize Employer".
“New York is the city of privilege. Here is the seat of the Invisible Power represented by the allied forces of finance and industry. This Invisible Government is reactionary, sinister, unscrupulous, mercenary, and sordid. It is wanting in national ideals and devoid of conscience . . . This kind of government must be scourged and destroyed.”
CAMMACK: I’m from a small town out West, and the month before I was supposed to graduate high school, which was 2006, one of my classmates was kidnapped by an illegal who had been deported multiple times. And I think when you have policies that incentivize folks to come over illegally, and we don’t have the proper mechanisms in place to protect our borders … that kind of impact has resounding effects. So my question to you, her name was Amber Scott — the young lady who was kidnapped by this illegal criminal — how many more Ambers have to be kidnapped across America before you will take action?
MAYORKAS: Congresswoman, I find that question to be extraordinarily disrespectful. Disrespectful not only to me, but disrespectful to the men and women of Homeland Security and to all the frontline personnel throughout this country who dedicate themselves to the safety and security of the American people.
The poor Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas must be treated as a ‘victim’ too
Biden and Mayorkas personally created the border crisis. It was well planned. Just the way they are allowing it to spiral out control is clear evidence that they are accomplishing their goals.
We are into the hundreds of thousands of border crashers within 60 days of his inauguration and they are doing nothing but catch & release. This is a clear dereliction of duty.
Joe Biden is lying about his 2011 dealings with Vladimir Putin in Moscow, and the Russian president isn’t putting up with it. I know this because I was an eyewitness to the events of that day. “What matters is not the debt but the size of interest payments relative to GDP. Since interest rates are so low, any investment that raises GDP significantly is worth it. Investing in infrastructure has a high rate of return and so it should be done,” Jonathan Gruber, a former technical consultant to the Obama Administration and an economics professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, said."
He should have left MIT for an MBA from Harvard.
Then he might appreciate the folly of borrowing when floating rates are at all time lows. And he might reflect on just why that is (hint, it ain't the market), and how long he might count on rates staying low, and what happens to his math when the curves cross each other.
After that, he might contemplate what other borrowers might not be able to borrow for real investments if the Feds have taken all the debt available out of the trough.

Sure he is. More likely he doesn't want to be revealed as a senile plagiarizing liar and humiliated. (Actually, I think it is probably his handlers who made the decision.)
I went out with my sister and we went through a drive-thru and grabbed burgers, and then I watched "Iron Man" with her . I have never seen any of the Marvel movies, so she wanted to get me started on them.
She and my niece are Marvel fans (not so funny with my niece, but to know a retired schoolteacher is, my daughter finds hilarious)
Actually, she and I were Marvel comics fans when they first came out, and I was pleased with the movie because it was full of great wisecracks and special effects and no politics.
For all of you people luxuriating in the warmth of Florida, we have cold rain and wind, and we might get a touch of snow tonight. ICK!
As for the rest, what could go wrong in taking out a variable rate mortgage on the whole country with interest rates at 5,000 year lows? Only a true intellectual can understand the genius of that.
And you're ignoring the magical properties of MMT. If debt goes up that is perfectly fine because we just print more money. If we print so much that inflation occurs that is also perfectly fine because that is an indicator taxes are too low so you raise taxes and inflation goes away and you start spending and borrowing again.
It was certainly a lifesaver when this ironclad theory was discovered which just happens to coincide with and enable every damned dumbass idea progs ever had.
Once you have gained immunity, you’d think the best way to keep the immunity is to throw away your mask and take in small “loads” of SARS-COv2 naturally so to keep your immune system reactive to the virus. Assuming a mask actually affords any protection, wearing it would only keep your immune system from recharging itself which makes wearing a mask worse than theater.

Some of the borrowing is fixed rate, but I'm trying to imagine what kind of fool locks in 1.5% for 10 years, or 2.5% for 30 years. Look at the money supply:
Off the charts doesn't begin to describe it. $4T to $18T in one year? The QEs of 2008-15 don't even register.
I would add that the only reason we haven't had double-digit inflation is that with zero interest rates (and not much good investment or even spending opportunities) people and banks are ok with holding on to all that cash. But ZIRP won't be sustainable once things really reopen and there are opportunities to earn much higher rates of return in the real world. Let me try again with that graphic:

White House shuts down Putin invite to public video chat, says Biden is 'quite busy' https://trib.al/OSsWq0R

ICK!

Vlad knows a mark when he sees one. Poor Joe, can't even stand up to a Putin or Xi. But he can to The Little Sisters or the Poor.

Hans?

Jack, the Atlanta Braves also have a brand new stadium in South Venice/North Port. We went to a game last spring before the shutdown. This spring they are at 20% capacity. :(

ALABAMA. Cong Mo Brooks (R) will launch a run for the open US Senate seat on Monday. Brooks - who is one of the trio of congressmen who were in regular communications with the organizers of the Jan 6 insurrection - is being advised by former Trump WH aide Stephen Miller.

Bolding is mine. I don't think Alabamans will find that particularly disqualifying, the way Politics1 hopes.
