It was Sunday afternoon at The Masters in 2016 that the earth wobbled in its space-time continuum, Jordan Spieth blew up, and a Year of Weirdness began. This may not be in order but subsequent surprises included the Leicester City Foxes (5,000-1 at the start of the season) winning the English Premier League; the LeBron's overcoming a 3-1 deficit to beat the mighty Warriors; Brexit; the Cubbies winning their first World Series in a century in extra innings of the seventh game (and after a rain delay); Trump; Tom Brady coming back from 28-3 in the Super Bowl; and the Academy Awards announcing the wrong "Best Picture" winner.
OK, some of that was kind of fun, but here's hoping Hideki Matsuyama can hold on.
I think TM meant to say "and then The Magnificent Donald Trump was elected against all odds, went on to govern majestically in the face of traitors and seditionists and had his reelection stolen by China, the Dems, the media and other revolting and evil progs" but just said "Trump" to save space.
Pretty sure.

Back to the Pimento Cheese Spread debate, I love both versions. The smooth spread without hot sauce or jalapenos is nice for a quick sandwich snack. I used to be able to get a pimento and shredded cheese mixture with a touch of either hot sauce or perhaps jalapeno to give the spread a little kick. It was great on Triscuits or veggies. Sadly, I haven't been able to find it anymore. The recipe on the last thread looks good, but I'd leave out the blue cheese, add some hot sauce and just blend the mixture rather than use the Cuisinart.

As GUS put it over on JOM2 - We're Still Trying to Debate Lunatics.
Trump's style and rhetoric were and are certainly unique and one may either gripe about or admire that.
But it seems undeniable to me his foreign policy was vastly more successful than anyone since Reagan, and before Reagan too, back to Ike. Had he not had a second term stolen from him he would undoubtedly built on those successes.
His domestic policies were within the mainstream of conservative/populist traditions, mostly the former and were on balance very successful as well.
He endured and dealt with an opposition of underhanded crooks who waged an unprecedented war against him entirely within the legal framework of the country, far more than the leaking, crooked, lying, spying Dems did.
And guys like TM consider anyone discussing the election being stolen insane when a move of only 40,000 votes in three states would have changed the results. The Dems could move that many before they started the 2020 shenanigans. And with the revelations of Dems being handed the keys to citywide elections in one of those states, WI and Dems still fighting tooth and nail to prevent independent forensic audits in AZ, another one and Time's admission of the coalition of creeps who swayed millions of votes along with the capture of just how skewed google's searches were for the Dems, only a fool, tool or someone lying to themselves pretends that a gang of crooks like the Dems did not do what they so obviously did.
TM is wrong that someone is insane. Someone is manipulated. Trump and his supporters don't even have the power to manipulate. The institutional power is entirely in the hands of the progs. and it is in full throated manipulation and guys like TM and Appalled gobble it up. They gobble it up to the extent that a party proposing to turn voting into a mail fraud free for all, create two new prog states, pack the Supreme Court, propose a seemingly unlimited number of new trillions to spend and make nebulous assertions that people who voted for their opponent need to be eliminated or rendered powerless seems like the sane, reasonable choice to them.
You can't argue the irrational into rationality. Something must jar them into it. Most often it is the violent reaction by those around them to the insufferable consequences of their irrationality.
Oh well.

A favorite interview with Queen Elizabeth is one in which she's describing the history of all the jewels in the crown. It was explained at the start of the segment that only two people are allowed to even touch the crown: the Queen and the guy who's in charge of the royal crowns, jewelry, etc.
At one point the interviewer asked if the crown could be moved a little bit closer. The keeper of the crown moved it about a quarter of an inch closer at which point the Queen picked it up and plunked the crown down right in front of the reporter. I like her style.

I was puzzled at the news that Mossad would reportedly use a cyber-attack to cause a "black-out" at the Natanz nuclear facility.
While the Israelis may have used a cyber-attck I suspect there is more going on here than a mere black-out. I think "black-out" is an Iranian spin on something more serious. My first thought was some kind of manufactured power surge that got past the presumed circuit breakers.
Israeli press is now reporting serious damage at Natanz.
https://www.jpost.com/breaking-news/israel-involved-in-natanz-explosion-report-confirmed-664869
https://www.timesofisrael.com/natanz-incident-said-to-cause-severe-damage-sets-back-irans-enrichment-ability/
The timing of the event is interesting, in that, if Mossad wanted to inflict some serious damage, I think they would have waited for the centrifuges to all be powered up. And they opened the plant just yesterday.

Black Prince's ruby | gem | Britannica
www.britannica.com › topic › Black-Princes-Ruby
Black Prince’s ruby, large red gem set in the Maltese cross in the front of the imperial state crown of England. It is not a ruby but is one of the world’s largest gem-quality red spinels, a polished lump 5 cm (2 inches) long, pierced and partly filled with a small ruby. The stone was given to Edward the Black Prince by Pedro the Cruel, king of Castile, on the victory of Nájera in 1367.

This quote from the TimesofIsrael article is an eye-catcher:
"Meanwhile, the New York Times, citing two intelligence officials briefed on the damage, said that “it had been caused by a large explosion that completely destroyed the independent — and heavily protected — internal power system that supplies the underground centrifuges that enrich uranium.”
An independent-internal power plant? So the Israelis didn't mess with the external power grid?
Somehow the Israelis managed to affect something inside the plant? It must have just been sitting there for some time, whatever it was, waiting to be activated.

Another version of Pimento Cheese
Our Story – Palmetto Cheese – Homestyle Pimento Cheese
The perfect pimento cheese was born in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, and you have never had pimento cheese like this! The recipe originated with Sassy Henry. She would whip up batches of her delightful, southern style pimento cheese while living in Atlanta and tailgating at Braves games. Sassy, her husband Brian, and their two children moved to Pawleys Island, SC in 2002 where they took over the historic Sea View Inn. Pawleys is known for its shoeless, laid-back life style which includes crabbing in the marsh, fishing, rope hammocks, and unspoiled beaches and waterways. It is there that Palmetto Cheese was featured as an appetizer each week during the summer low country shrimp boils. Needless to say, it was a guest favorite.

I don't remember all of the precious stones in the crown, but the one I do recall is the Koh-i-Noor (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koh-i-Noor). It was a huge stone that was cut. The larger piece of the stone is in the crown. The remaining piece of the stone was made into a very impressive brooch which the Queen was wearing during the interview.

Michigan governor vows to push Biden for more vaccines as Covid cases surge
“… We are seeing a surge in Michigan despite the fact that we have some of the strongest policies in place, mask mandates, capacity limits, working from home. We’ve asked our state for a two-week pause. So despite all of that, we are seeing a surge because of these variants."
So, your policies aren't working huh? And it has to be variants.
I was willing to buy into the variant idea. That the virus might mutate to become more contagious yet less lethal. I mean they do do that normally. If you kill the host too quickly, you the virus die yourself.
I give up, while I expect the virus to mutate, this has just turned into an excuse now.
Something goes wrong - it's the variant. Uh-Uh. And please don't use the word "pause" when you mean another two-week lock-down.
