I know DeSantis. I held a fundraiser for him. He is the real deal, ex military and gentleman of the highest order. Of course, as a result, the only way to impeach him is thru innuendo, rumor, negative criticism and lies.

He will make a great POTUS if he decides to run.

This assumption that the next election will be determined by voters is iffy.

The last one wasn't; why would any future ones be decided by voters?

The Dems will keep up the pretense - letting the GOP win a few governorships and 150 seats in the House gives them someone to blame for their failures, and a convenient boogeyman to use for fundraising.

From what I've read of the decision so far, I agree with the six morons. In fact, I doubt the Java call interface should have copyright protection at all, because it's not the kind of creative expression copyrights are intended to protect. It seems like an attempt to use copyright protection as a substitute for patent protection, because the call interface can't be patented.

In any case, such copyright protection in that situation seems wholly impractical. One of the examples used in the decision is the function (or method, if you must) Math.Max(a, b). Should Oracle be able to copyright that? Guess what: the Max() function is hardly original to Java -- it goes back at least as far as FORTRAN.

The lawsuit charges that by unilaterally dumping Columbus Day as a city holiday, and replacing it with Indigenous Peoples' Day, Mayor Kenney is guilty of discriminating against Italian-Americans, and violating the Equal Protection Clause of the U.S. Constitution.

Though she did at times post something that resonated with me--so I would email her occasionally, and she would respond.

Re reduced WooFloo deaths and continuing concern: I am always concerned about respiratory illnesses. I've experienced seemingly healthy people laid low and almost taken out by the flu. It worked! While I'm still posting from my 15-16 year old Toshiba laptop right now I managed to move all the Firefox stuff over to the newer laptop.

The Mozilla on-line help was a little obtuse but I found this:
https://helpdeskgeek.com/how-to/how-to-migrate-a-firefox-profile-the-right-way/

Pretty easy, but very time-consuming. Just copy the Mozilla folder from the roaming directory and wait an hour and a half for it to copy to the USS stick.

This PC originally came with MS Vista and 2GB of memory so it's kinda slow. The screen died years ago and I had to hook up an external monitor. In the last two weeks on boot-up it failed to find the operating system 7 times. Power down and try again always worked, but this thing is going to die for good soon.

So it's good to have the other PC all set to go. With 8GB of memory and a solid-state hard drive it gobbled up the file folder in less than 10 minutes.

Handwashing. Plenty of handwashing.

Amom: If so few of you got it, while it may be partly the habitual sanitizing that doctors do, it also bears out the view that likely many people have natural immunity.

I didn't do any of that crazy stuff (taking clothes off before entering, etc.) even here at ground zero in NYC last April and May. And ironically, many of the people we know who were more panicky and careful somehow got COVID anyway, while none of us who were more casual about it did.

MissMarple2

Hey, that was my idea a couple of days ago, either here and/or at JOM2, can't remember. The only thing is, GA has voter ID (and did before, so the new law didn't change that, I don't think), whereas NY and DE do not.

MissM, when we were first married I used an old crock pot that was gold colored. It was a machine. I bought a nice stainless steel one that had a digital display. After two years it was useless. Now I have a bright red one (from my supplier) with an off/low/high dial. But I never use it. However, I will always stick with the dial rather than a digital display for the heat.

TC,
“But I never holed myself up because of the panic, because I feel that every day is a risk, every action involves a tradeoff, and the biggest risk is shutting oneself off from living.”

Exactly - Along with Anonamom’s recent post. I was “on the front
lines” in retail (certainly not to the degree that Anonamom is/was). After a short time (maybe at the most two weeks) I gave up on the showering, etc. I simply realized that most people didn’t die.

My family was way behind me. It was stressful, as my husband was stressed and thought his health issues were covid. I was afraid that if he was tested he would close my store down, and at the same time he was basically laid off; hence his stress, etc.

This has been a huge mess. The paranoia should have ended a long time ago, but COVID has been politicized. And here we are.

I for one have had enough, and I feel I can’t put up with much more nonsense. But I will. Just a long day.

Ah, the six feet-social-distance broom pole is so far a permanent fixture at the store. We interact with people all day, but we swear we hate them by the end. But of course that is not true. We enjoy most of them, tolerate a few, and, the rest, well we won’t comment.

I dealt with a guy today, who commented that “John” (my father) “would have found what I needed right away!” He was speaking all over the place about plumbing. “I need 3/8” flare to 1/2” pipe.” Okay, so I am not an idiot and I produced a similar piece. “No! I need 5/8” flare...”. That’s when he referred to the above listed comment. I replied, “Well, let me go to his grave sight and resurrect him!” At that moment my brother stepped in :-)

I’m there again at 7:30, so best I head to bed.

Appreciate all of you, including TM!
