It's Memorial Day, a day on which we honor our war dead and I hark back to a happier time - candidate Obama, observing the moment in 2008:
Obama's intro to his Memorial Day speech in New Mexico:
On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes -- and I see many of them in the audience here today -- our sense of patriotism is particularly strong.
They've fallen - but they've gotten back up! Well, he was in New Mexico...
To quote a Hollywood great, we've all passed a lot of water since then.

Statement from the real President of the United States:
Donald J. Trump
8:47am May 31, 2021
On this Memorial Day, we remember the fallen heroes who took their last breaths in defense of our Nation, our families, our citizens, and our sacred freedoms. The depth of their devotion, the steel of their resolve, and the purity of their patriotism has no equal in human history. On distant battlefields, in far-off oceans, and high in the skies above, they faced down our enemies and gave their lives so that America would prevail. They made the supreme sacrifice so that our people can live in safety and our Nation can thrive in peace. It is because of their gallantry that we can together, as one people, continue our pursuit of America’s glorious destiny.
We owe all that we are, and everything we ever hope to be, to these unrivaled heroes. Their memory and their legacy is immortal. Our loyalty to them and to their families is eternal and everlasting.
America’s warriors are the single greatest force for justice, peace, liberty, and security among all the nations ever to exist on earth. God bless our fallen Soldiers, Sailors, Coast Guardsmen, Airmen, and Marines. We honor them today, forever, and always.

Shufflin Senescent Joe Biden is a perfect match for Obama here. Joe was at a political rally and wanted to call out a fellow in the audience for recongition. Joe said, "Stand up Jack so folks can see you." Only one problem--Jack was a paraplegic who'd been in awheelchair for twenty years at that point.
These two are a matched set--dumb as a pair of brass bookends.

Bannon's first hour talks with Patrick O'Donnell, combat historian. He discusses how many American soldiers were unidentified due to their horrific wounds after WWI and how the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was established.
He also discusses the Battle of Brooklyn Heights and the British prison ships. I need to read more about the American Revolution since I obviously am unsschooled in a lot of this.
Second hour begins with Joe Kent, who is running for Congress from Washington State, served 11 tours in Afghanistan and Iraq, and whose wife was a linguist serving with Special Forces and was killed by an IED, leaving him a widower with two young sons.

I remember that from 1991 and mentioned it in 2016 when I called Trump "the least worst" option when I met with jimmy and jmh in nyc in late january. They were surprised as neither was there yet.
IRC, he was getting them home for the holidays and only asked the Treasury to reimburse for the costs of the gas. It was something only someone who both loved this country and the militry would have done. I say that as someone who has never watched the apprentice and has always thought that all the gilding at trump tower was tacky.

Is anyone here familiar with the Netflix series called "Lucifer?" I came across it a few nights ago and it's example #1 of undermining religious faith, morality, and traditional values, cloaked in a glossy, expensively produced series by Jerry Brukheiser.
It apparently has a large fan base of younger people and the series is aptly named, as the HERO is a suave and handsome guy who portrays the actual devil who gets sick of runing Hell and comes to earth for a vacation.
I have been away from Hollywood productiins for some time so was much struck by how indisious this series seems to be. God is portrayed as an unjust and vengeful father (the angels are his children created with his WIFE, a goddess of some sort). Lucifer runs a Los Angeles nightclub full of bondage costumed strippers and drinking, spends a lot of time drinking and bedding various young women, and aids a female detective. He also has a psychiatrist who he discusses his family issues with.
There's lots more, but what amazes me is how this series has apparently gotten through 5 long seasons without anyone remarking about it at all.

Michael Smith·
There is no doubt the "pandemic" has been used to great effect by Democrats. They have amplified fears of a virus and used those heightened emotions to manufacture a crisis, one of which they have taken full advantage.
But each day, more of the lies that underpinned the "crisis" are being exposed.
If the pandemic narratives collapse, as it seems they now will, what will be done? What mechanisms are there to punish the media, the elected officials, and the "scientists" who willfully harmed America by providing cover for the Biden administration's overt plans to break America's back by destroying the private sector and reorganizing our society and our economy?
The frustration with the "crisis" no doubt lead to the events of January 6, 2021. The media and the Democrats claim that January 6th, an event with all the violence of a college panty raid or a night after a team wins professional sports championship, was an "insurrection". It wasn't. There was anger about an election that was rife with irregularities and strange occurrences, but there was never any serious attempts to overthrow a government.
But there was a real insurrection. America witnessed a full year of insurrection conducted by people who despised President Trump and traditional American government. It was an all out war on all fronts that has been ongoing since 2020 began. It was a multi-front war designed to defeat a pro-freedom president and install perhaps the most anti-freedom government since the days of FDR helmed by the most anti-constitutional president since Woodrow Wilson (Obama was a close second).
Whether he knows it or not, Biden's administration is actively attempting to crush the private economy and replace it with a state controlled economy. That is what the lingering pandemic regulations of small businesses is all about - if they can crush the small employers, it will leave the government and its huge spending programs as the employer of last resort.
We have seen this movie before and know how it ends. FDR tried to take advantage of another national crisis do the same thing in 1935.
86 years ago, almost to the day (May 27), the Supreme Court stopped it by ruling against FDR in Schechter Poultry Corp. v. United States and in doing so, invalidated a key part of the National Industrial Recovery Act, or NIRA, one of the projects passed during FDR’s 100-day program in 1933.
The NIRA was nothing less than a naked power grab over the entire US economy. The NIRA was perhaps the most significant example of a government hell bent on denying individual rights in the pursuit of the good of the collective. It gets little publicity these days but the Schechter decision laid bare the unconstitutional behavior of FDR and his administration.
Schechter is summarized here by PBS (unsurprisingly sympathetic to FDR) but still accurate:
"In the midst of the Great Depression, President Franklin Roosevelt worked with the Democratic Congress to enact several sweeping economic reform bills, known as the New Deal. In 1935, in A.L.A. Schechter Poultry Corp. v. United States, the Supreme Court declared unconstitutional a central piece of this New Deal legislation. In reviewing the conviction of a poultry company for breaking the Live Poultry Code, the Court held that the code violated the Constitution’s separation of powers because it was written by agents of the president with no genuine congressional direction. The Court also held that much of the code exceeded the powers of Congress because the activities it policed were beyond what Congress could constitutionally regulate.
Schechter Poultry’s sweeping interpretations of legislative power had devastating effects on President Roosevelt’s New Deal programs in the 1930s. The centerpiece of the New Deal legislation, the NIRA, was essentially declared unconstitutional. Ultimately, President Roosevelt responded by proposing a “court packing” scheme in 1937, allowing a new Supreme Court justice to be appointed for every current sitting justice over the age of 70. The scheme was designed to help tip the Court’s ideological balance to Roosevelt’s side. It failed in Congress and never became law."
The Court's decisions were hardly “…sweeping interpretations of legislative power”; rather SCOTUS was reining in a central government that assumed that there was nothing out of its control due to their willful corruption of the Commerce Clause.
The National Recovery Administration (created to oversee the NIRA) was initially popular with desperate business owners who had seen their profits plunge in the Depression and with union leaders who appreciated federal protection of organized labor’s rights just as the "free" money handed out by the government has been "popular", but no everybody was on board - many saw the NRA and the NIRA for what they were. Journalist William Randolph Hearst said the program was an example of state socialism and quipped that NRA stood for “No Recovery Allowed.” Another critical journalist, Walter Lippmann, asserted, “The excessive centralization and the dictatorial spirit are producing a revulsion of feeling against bureaucratic control of American economic life.”
Some business owners began to agree with those sentiments.
It is the same today – we may well see Schechter rise again if Biden's programs make it past Congress and state Attorney's General sue the Biden administration for their overreach in the attempts to institute these massive tax and spend plans that are designed to destroy the private sector of the US economy.
America withstood the challenge from a president hell bent on centralized control over everything once, the precedent is there to do it again.
Voting the Democrats out of office, ignoring the media and mocking the "scientists" does not seem appropriate punishment for the attempted murder of American freedom and liberty. Somehow, their failures need to be memorialized so that this does not happen again.

This is very good, on the supposed white privileged union soldiers who died and are buried in the south to end enslavement of others. The Batlle of P'tree Creek mentioned took place on land my GF built a lovely home on. I grew up playing in a rose garden that was erected over those still extant trenches layering down to the creek. He found mortars and cannon balls and it made the war quite real to me a 100 years later.
I also think today of what it was like to visit the vietnam memorial in the mid-80s as loved ones wept that someone finally remembered who they had lost.
Let's also remember those families that regularly have a loved one in combat zones and always wonder each memorial day if next year it will be truly personal forever more.

Hello. Anyone there?
Posted by: Jim Eagle | May 31, 2021 at 05:10 PM
Had a long talk with the dad who lost his son on Thursday.
His son had anxiety issues ever since he was a kid. Doc switched him from temazepam to Xanax last Monday.
Was at a bachelor party for his younger brother at Lake Tahoe and the guys were playing various beer drinking games.
He signed off and went to bed at 2:30AM. At 7 when his brother tried to wake him rigor mortis was already setting in so he must have stopped breathing as soon as he went to sleep.
I don't know if he didn't realize the danger or just disregarded it but if you don't want to wake up permanently there are few better ways than mixing benzodiazepines and alcohol.

Such a tragedy, Ig. He probably didn't even realize.
Used to take a temazepam to help me sleep on those 12 hr flights. Never thought much about it since it was a sleeping pill. At the time I knew nothing about psychoactive drugs. Now I teach about them.

Posted by: clarice | May 31, 2021 at 06:17 PM
I didn't really reach out. I waited a couple of days not to intrude and just sent him a text on Saturday telling him I was thinking of them.
To my surprise he texted me back and said he wanted to see the guys this morning.
Heart breaking and wrenching couple of hours as they're a really close family and the brother was to be married that Saturday at the parents' house. The mom is a really great lady and a bit of a mother hen so she is devastated like the rest of them.
The dad is an alpha male, 'man up', hard-ass kind of guy which is mostly a smoke screen for a soft hearted, thoughtful guy underneath.

Based on MSM lying and twisting:
I put this out:
Let me be VERY CLEAR – There is NO reason whatsoever for any coup in America, and I do not and have not at any time called for any action of that sort.
Any reporting of any other belief by me is a boldface fabrication based on twisted reporting at a lively panel at a conference of Patriotic Americans who love this country, just as I do.
I am no stranger to media manipulating my words and therefore let me repeat my response to a question asked at the conference: There is no reason it (a coup) should happen here (in America).

--Do you agree?--
Yep.
We fought with one hand behind our back, tied ourselves to the useless UN, nearly lost and then settled for a stalemate and made China pay zero cost for intervening.
We should have at least tactically nuked their army to oblivion and made NK a desert and called it peace.

Thanks for the link to the Trump Boat Parade.
You know those boat parades really tick off the left, which makes me quite happy.

Is 'Patient Su' Covid's Patient Zero? IAN BIRRELL, who's led the way in exposing Beijing's lies, reveals how a woman aged 61 was diagnosed with virus THREE weeks before China admits that it even existed
- Mistake by Chinese official may have disclosed details of early Covid case
- Error shows the woman, 61, lived about a mile from a coronavirus research lab

Narciso,

Joe McCarthy is not the man for the present hour.
He took it upon himself to disclose how many communists were hiding under beds and secreted away in the government.
Now the Dem party is openly run by them and we fly their flags on our embassies and teach their shit in the schools and people get blacklisted for NOT being communists.
We don't need a coup. We need a revolution and an epic purge.

Thanks, Narciso.
I do wonder where the fireworks come from that are being set off now. Just about the time I think it's done, another group are set off.
Even the cats get alarmed.
Think I will try to head to bed.
Good night, everyone!
