A Tesla Autopilot Lawsuit

The short video of a Tesla rear-ending a pickup truck that was changing lanes shows you can automate Stupid. The Tesla was whizzing down the open lane of a multi-lane highway, blowing the doors off drivers on both his right and left. The pickup truck wanted to move into the lane where traffic was flowing, signaled a lane change to his right, and... boom. The Tesla driving system only slowed a fraction of a second before the crash. A kid in the pickup was not wearing a seat belt, and died.

But sudden lane changes are hardly unusual when traffic is messed up. Rocketing by people as if they are sure to look out for you is a terrible idea, even if done autonomously.

So every time I see a Tesla, I assume the driver is most likely an a-hole, too, and I wish for their battery to catch fire right there on the road. That probably makes me a terrible person, but I kind of don't care.

The mainstream media cannot be broken financially. They are the propaganda arms of much larger interests so even with zero advertising revenue they will be funded. The Washington post's revenue is 1 billion while it's parent company Amazon's revenue is $381 billion. So for 0.25% of its revenue, Amazon gets to control a large media outlet which makes or breaks politicians who set policy for Amazon. That's just one example. The bureaucracy controls trillions of dollars, and they would never let their favorite media outlets suffer financially because that might give rise to alternate media which might scrutinize their trillions. All of this money and vast wealth is now intertwined into an oligarchical class. If CNN were to need money, it would appear from some billionaire. Then the next year, that billionaire's stock in Raytheon, or whatever, jumps in value $10 billion, because their government contract balloons from $75B to $98B, with no pushback, because the media and anyone else who might push back is cut in on the deal. The big corporations, The intelligence agencies, The tech companies, the media... They are all essentially one class, who have worked out how to back scratch and distribute money and favors. The media are not independent corporations with profit motive. They are the High Priest Class of the hegemonic Oligarchy. They cannot be boycotted out of existence. Ad Revenue is not their business model. Viewers buying products is not their business model.

Influence is. The media's real customers are the Oligarchs NOT the viewers. Media Viewers are the product, not the customers. A loss in one area means nothing, if it serves the whole. The printing of money itself - the entire financial system - is now part of a merged oligarchy. They don't have to convince you to buy a Chevy. They have to convince you to vote for their friends who control the central bank.

There was a time we thought of the Media as independent. Then we thought the media was a subsidiary of the Democratic party. Now the Democratic party and the Bureaucracy have merged and the media is a subsidiary of the state. It can no more go bankrupt than PBS, or the Military, or the Fed. Nor can it be reformed into an entity that will go against the hegemony of the state because the state is their one true customer. Viewers are not the customer at all. Viewers are the product.
