I am not a fan of ranked choice voting or non-partisan elections. Ranked choice voting renders elections into beauty contests.

Supposedly, they promote the selection of the “best” candidates, but typically become a tool based on popularity to lock down positions for the most powerful political forces rather than a contest between opposing positions.

As I have always said, we must ask this question about any policy: "Who benefits?"

Democrats never support anything that does not benefit their political agenda.

Combine ranked choice voting with the Democrats’ war on the suburbs and you have a recipe for perpetual Democrat governments as far and the eye can see.

None of their policies toward the suburbs has anything to do with race, fairness or discrimination, it has to do with winning.

Democrats understand the concept of “excess votes” and know that any vote over the 51% needed to win is “excess” or a waste.

Winning 90 to 10 in the cities is not helpful when they are losing the suburbs 54 to 46. If they can move enough of those excess urban votes to the suburbs to overcome the deficit and get to 51%, the electoral map changes significantly.

That is why Democrats are not upset about the flight they are causing in Democrat dominated states of California, Oregon, Washington, and the upper Northeast. They know this outmigration is headed toward red states like Texas, Florida and the states in the Intermountain West and they know these people have packed their ideology and votes in the moving trucks along with their clothes and furniture.

We cannot lose control of this nation to a political party so immersed in postmodernism that they believe anything can be anything if they believe it is. The Democrats have convinced themselves that they literally and figuratively ARE the Constitution, democracy and morality and therefore, any opposition to them is opposition to those three.

Well, spoiler alert, they are not the Constitution, democracy or morality. Possessing no understanding of any of these, they are the anthesis of those things, spending every moment of every day trying to find a way over, under, or through them – and when they cannot, they just make something up. They are little more than a progressive, postmodernist doomsday cult, an amalgamation of the People’s Temple, Heaven’s Gate, and the Manson Family.

The Democrats are promising collective freedom when there is no such thing. F.A. Hayek wrote:

“The worst sufferer in this respect is the word “liberty.” It is a word used as freely in totalitarian states as elsewhere. Indeed, it could almost be said that wherever liberty as we know it has been destroyed, this has been done in the name of some new freedom promised to the people. In his classic tome, “On War”, Carl von Clausewitz, stated “War is politics by other means,” and if true, one can make the case the converse is also true – that politics is war by other means.

In Winston Churchill's famous "Fight on the Beaches" speech, he let the people know that the fight was everywhere. Our battle is much the same and it is already on our doorstep. It is in our homes, our schools, our businesses, and our churches. There is no place for innocent bystanders, no room for people who want to stand on the periphery, film it with their phones and post to Chinese owned Tik-Tok.

It is time for we few patriots to mutually pledge, as the signers of the Declaration of Independence did, “to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.”

Ours is a nation worth saving, worth the fight. On this Independence Day 2021, as I do each day, I thank God for this nation and the people who founded it under Divine inspiration as a bastion of freedom and a force for the eternal good.

Happy Independence Day and may God bestow wisdom upon our leaders (a heavy lift, even for God) and may He continue to bless these United States of America, our military and each and every citizen wherever they may be on this day.

Aretus Waters was a soldier and an officer in the Revolutionary War and fought at the battle of Bunker Hill.

Major Alvah Darling Waters was a Union Officer in the Civil War and was not wounded - returned to Cortland NY and became District Attorney

Alcander Waters wounded at Gettysburg - spent three days lying on battlefield before medics got to him and amputated his leg. and after two years in the hospital went back to Cortland NY and became a farmer and lived to 1907

Louis Addison Waters (my grandfather) volunteered in WWI and while in Europe was subjected to mustard gas and lost one eye. He returned home and became a Police photographer in Syracuse NY

George B. Waters (my father WHO WAS BORN ON JULY 4) Was a Captain of 42nd “Rainbow Division” 222nd Infantry Regiment Anti-tank Company in WWII who entered Munich to be greeted by officials with white flags as one of the first Americans in the city. Later, platoons of Waters’ company were among the first to enter the concentration camp at Dachau and liberate it.

Peter B. Waters - Joined the United States Air Force and in 1965 volunteered to go to Vietnam as one of 12,000 'advisors' and by the time I returned to the US (only to be scorned by protesters) there were 50,000 active duty in Vietnam. War would not end for 10 more years. Over 50,000 would die for freedom in the 20 years of this conflict.

I used to think that but I don't anymore and for this simple reason; it relies upon the Federal government to contain itself. Who decides what the Federal government can do? The SCOTUS. Who signs the SCOTUS's paychecks? Uncle Sam. As one of those Sinclair commies put it; It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding it.

Why do we have Federal courts? The states are perfectly capable of deciding things for themselves. As long as there are a few nationwide red lines; interstate tariffs, guns, speech, religion, segregation, etc, that they may not cross whatsoever, then who cares if they come up with different conclusions? If a state wants to go commie they can go commie, but they can't use the Federal courts to force every other one to also. And if a state wants to ban commies from moving to their state and wrecking it they can [Since no one but commie morons want to move to commie states they won't have to worry about a reciprocal law]
All we need is interstate commerce not to be disrupted by the states [as in interstate tariffs and trade blockades, not what watt light bulb we can use], a national defense and maybe a national currency.
Everything else the sates can do, usually better and certainly less tyrannically.

Happy 4th. Got one of the last sesame seed buns to make sloppy joes later (no not from a can). Decided to add some poblano pepper to make it a bit hotter.

Last night was baby back ribs which is cooked in oven at 275 for 4 hours covered in foil. Literally falling off the bone. Then added Fox Bros BBQ sauce as it was easier than making from scratch and quite good. will have to do that again next time they are on special or if I can entice son to visit. He always wants to know what's for dinner.
