Cuomo Live Updates: New York Governor Sexually Harassed Multiple Women, Report Finds
The report centered on allegations made by 11 women, nine of whom are current and former state employees. Letitia James, the state attorney general, said Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo retaliated against at least one woman for her allegations.
I don't see how he survives this.
Now a backup… Fredo might go to jail yet.

Keep in mind that the real objective behind the Democrat mega-spending bills is not the amount of money - they can't even find ways to spend what has already been appropriated - it is about the changes in HOW whatever money they get is spent and WHO controls that spending.
Bills like this 2700 page monstrosity are never specific about how the money is doled out, this is always left the the various heads of the departments in the administrative state, and as the Trump era revealed, even when a president appoints someone, there is no guarantee that person is going to follow what the president wants - it is also true that a lot of this spending eventually gets defined as "mandatory" and keeps on going even when government is "shut down".
The obscenely large numbers are there to distract from the process chicanery that is going on in the text of these bills. You have to ask the question, "Who benefits?" and drive it down to the lowest common denominator to understand the true objectives.
The money is secondary.
This why the GOP sometimes wins by cutting the top spending number but they always lose because, once the bill is passed, the money doesn't matter because the die is cast.
And like Charlie Brown, moronic Republicans like Mitt Romney fall for it every single time.

I FINALLY got my bank account access open! Because of all the stuff my customer service rep had to do, I jokingly said that while I was waiting I was going to find out about what all Cuomo had been doing.
She (sounded young) said, "OMG! What do you know? I saw a little bit mentioned on Twitter but I had to get to work!" So I told her what I had seen which got her all fired up. HA!
Then my sister the nurse called and was laughing because she had the press conference on (one of her days off) and she was laughing about it. SHE wanted to know why no one went to bat for Monica Lewinsky.
I told her this was a hit job from another group in the DNC OR they didn't want to get the can of worms opened on the nursing home deaths. (I still think that was deliberate to both make the virus deaths larger and also to lower the New York Medicaid budget.)

Posted by: henry | August 03, 2021 at 06:26 PM
Federal judges in Texas and Ohio declared unenforceable a September 2020 order issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that prohibits certain residential evictions because of COVID-19 through March 2021.
The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas found that while there may have been a public health benefit, the residential eviction moratorium was not economic in nature, was too attenuated from interstate commerce and was an unprecedented exercise of federal government authority in an area well within the scope of the states' traditional police power.
The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio found that the CDC's order exceeded the agency's statutory authority to make and enforce regulations to stop the spread of communicable diseases between states because that authority was limited to actions to address infected animals, objects or properties.

The new 60-day CDC eviction moratorium carries steep criminal penalties for individual landlords who break the law:
- Potential $100k fine and 1 year in jail if eviction doesn't result in death
- Up to $250k fine and 1 year in jail if evicted person dies
===================================
Based on how dying WITH Covid became dying OF Covid, I assume any death of an evicted tenant for the next 5 years will be attributed to the landlord.
If, as a landlord, you are worried about this, Blackrock is available to buy up your properties, offering 50% of market value.
Also, if the CDC can make law, why can't we band together and make laws?

Boulder 2700 Fire
Finley Point, MT
It’s been truly a shit show around here. We had forced evacuations early Sunday morning from the Point. We got a landline call at midnight on Saturday telling us to prepare to leave. Then 30 minutes later they cut our power🤬That was very difficult trying to pack, open garage doors, etc. in the DARK!
Bob and I were one of the last off the Point at 5:30 pm on Sunday. I didn’t want to go, but the wind started picking up, and I wasn’t mentally prepared for another dark night of uncertainty!
Went to the info mtg Monday at the high school. The fire is now being managed by Tribal and the Biden’s Dept of Interior🤬🤬🤬🤬The first 40 minutes of the meeting they all congratulated themselves on what a great job they are doing🤪
I went to the mtg with 4 questions I wanted answered:
1. Containment %
2. Initial Damage Assessment
3. Potential Cause
4. When we can return home
The first 3 were NOT answered, and the last was only answered because our Sheriff, Don Bell, made arrangements to get us home. Tribal and the feds are useless.
We are on Stage 2 return to our homes, with the stipulation that if conditions change, we could be evacuated at anytime. Only residents with proof of home residency were allowed in. So if an evacuation reoccurs, there will be far fewer evacuees.
We arrived home around 3 pm yesterday after queuing up in a long car line to get our permission pass for the Point. Came home to the ac running and it is glorious. I think I could sleep for a week!
Pray for rain, and favorable wind conditions.

In my little corner of the world, the neighborhood website is on fire over the school bus issue. Apparently, they are 500 drivers short. One mother complained her middle-school child got on the bus at 7:40 a.m. and returned home at 6:30 p.m. School was dismissed at 3:45 p.m. They are even begging teachers to agree to drive a bus route before they start their day...(I doubt that's going to go over well!)
My private school does not start until after Labor Day (as the Lord intended! :) Plus, our families drive their children to and from the school.
I see the driver shortage as just another example of people unwilling to work when they can get $$$ from the government.

wow cindyk! I hope the damage is not too bad. There's a smell of ashes and smoke after a wildfire that can linger for weeks. An actual rational reason to mask up.
The drought is across the world. Much of Europe is experiencing very high temps in the 40's; We've got our own drought.
And some spots; Bavaria, China are getting tons of rain.
There's been discussion of the Jet Stream and the solar minimum, but historically here in CA it is a 7 year cycle. a couple of years of lots of rain, moderate, and then drought. But the drought is quite severe. 2016-18 were wet and a lot of the lakes and reservoirs filled up, but between scheduled drainage of some of the reservoirs (yup) and the drought, the levels are as low as they have ever been.

You can count on it, MM. The Chinese are the now Comintern looking to destroy any potential adversaries from within per Sun Tzu and co-opt everyone else.
Not sure what the CIA does anymore. They f'd up in Afghanistan and Iraq pretty well and their track record for 30 years has sucked. Maybe they're spying on overseas Republicans.

You ever think about how we can overcome tyranny aimed at us from our own elected government?
I do, and our Constitution is completely inadequate in that regard. We can't even force the federal government to enforce the laws on the books - as evidenced by our border situation.
John Adams famously wrote that "We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge or gallantry would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution is designed only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for any other."
Some take that to mean a promotion of religion, but I don't take it that way. What I think Adams meant was that those elected to serve must honor the limitations placed upon them by the Constitution or it is worthless. Several constitutional scholars have posited the truth that the Constitution is only valuable because we treat it that way.
Once people go off the reservation to achieve the goals driven by the "human passions" of "avarice, ambition, revenge or gallantry", we are well and truly screwed.
We have a constitution that assumes the best motives in our elected officials because it trusts the people to elect those kinds of people. It is totally unprepared for using to fight off tyranny. That is left to the people for a reason, I believe it is that the founders understood that nothing should be off the table when the future of the nation and her people are at risk.

I posted yesterday about my theory that Democrats never really care about the cost of their outlandish spending bills because that is never the real objective. I did not mean to imply that they do not want the money, because they do - but they are more interested in the changes that get made in the processes of government that enable their agenda going forward.
There is a perception that Adolph Hitler is the cause and result of the rise of Nazism in 1930's Germany, but that simply not true.
Sure, ole Adolph is the poster boy for the Nazi movement, but he had a lot of help. What came long before him created the environment where someone like him could wreak the death and destruction that followed.
The American Left always likes to use Nazism to beat conservatives about the head and shoulders but it is a prime example of how political winds can change in a very short period of time.
Nazi Germany arose in the wake of the national shame, embarrassment, anger, and resentment resulting from the Treaty of Versailles (1919). Many voters, seeking an outlet for their frustrations, and an expression for their repudiation of parliamentary democracy, which appeared incapable of keeping a government in power for more than a few months, began supporting far right-wing and far left-wing political parties, opting for political extremists such as the Nazi Party, (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, NSDAP, National Socialist German Workers’ Party).
The Nazis promised strong, authoritarian government in lieu of effete parliamentary republicanism, civil peace, radical economic policy (including full employment), restored national pride (principally by repudiating the Versailles Treaty), and racial cleansing, partly implemented via the active suppression of Jews and Marxists, all in name of national unity and solidarity, rather than the partisan divisions of democracy, and the social class divisiveness of Marxism.
The Nazi Party claimed that through the Treaty, the Weimar Republic’s liberal democracy, the traitorous “November criminals” had surrendered Germany’s national pride, by the inspiration and conniving of the Jews, whose goal was national subversion and the poisoning of the German blood.
From 1925 to the 1930s, the German government evolved from a democracy to a de facto conservative–nationalist authoritarian state under war hero-President Paul von Hindenburg, who disliked the liberal democracy of the Weimar Republic and wanted to make Germany into an authoritarian state.
In the federal election of 1928, when the economy had improved after the hyperinflation of the 1922–23 periods, the Nazis won only 12 seats. Two years later, in the federal election of 1930, months after the US stock market crash, the Nazi Party won 107 seats, progressing from ninth-rated splinter group to second-largest parliamentary party in the Reichstag. After the federal election of 1932, the Nazis were the largest party in the Reichstag, holding 230 seats.
In 4 short years, Germany transformed from a liberal (in the classical sense of liberalism) democracy to an autocratic Nazi abomination.
I’m sure that there were Jewish Germans who supported the themes of civil peace, full employment and restored national pride. Who wouldn't want that? But I’m equally sure they never imagined in their worst nightmares that only 4 years into the future, they would be stripped of their rights as citizens and sent to the gas chambers and ovens in the camps at Auschwitz and Dachau.
The incremental leftist lurch of the US government for the last 70 or 80 years has guaranteed that movement will tilt in favor of progressivism. The federal bureaucracy and the inception of unions in public/government employment guarantee this progressive slant.
Unions vote and give to Democrats by overwhelming margins and the bureaucracy moves to secure its own growth and existence and by definition, will support the party that supports bigger government – the Democrats.
My point was entirely this: for nearly a century, the progressive movement has been setting America up for a fall.
Whether 2020 was the beginning of the end or the end of the beginning is entirely up to us.

All to get them some "free" housing, or just end private property?

cindyk,
Thanks for the geo-info. I did a summer during my university days in Missoula working at a survey and engineering company. Got to explore most of the Bitteroot Valley and Flathead Lake area. Some spectacular scenery.
