From the WSJ:
United Airlines to Require All U.S. Employees Be Vaccinated Against Covid-19
United Airlines Holdings Inc. UAL -0.72% will require its 67,000 U.S. employees to be vaccinated this fall, the first major airline to take this step as the Delta variant drives a nationwide increase in Covid-19 infections.
Airlines including United have so far tried to encourage workers to be vaccinated voluntarily, with incentives such as bonus pay or extra vacation.
In a letter to employees Friday, Chief Executive Scott Kirby and President Brett Hart said they expected that some would disagree with the decision but said the move was necessary to keep workers safe.
“The facts are crystal clear: everyone is safer when everyone is vaccinated,” the executives wrote. “Over the last 16 months, Scott has sent dozens of condolences letters to the family members of United employees who have died from COVID-19. We’re determined to do everything we can to try to keep another United family from receiving that letter.”
Hmm. Delta is ready when you are? Other employers remain up in the air?

Not sure I buy Lisa Schiffren's argument that the Ds are going after Cuomo to eliminate him from the nomination in 2024. For whom? I'm sure Letitia James wants him gone so she can run for governor, but I don't seem him as a strong presidential candidate. Even if he got off on the nursing home deaths he's damaged goods. I don't think the Dems have a plan for 2024 yet.
And as evil as the Dems are, I'm not convinced they intentionally murdered those old folks just to take down Trump. They were going to destroy the economy anyway and play up the panic. But they are guilty of extreme negligence and should pay a price. Since they won't do so in court, we have to hope it's at the ballot box.

Discussing airlines, I went back in my time machine to remember all the airlines that no longer exist that I had flown on. I know I am missing a few but so far this is my list:
Airlines that don’t exist anymore that I flew on:
Braniff
North Central later Republic
Midwest
TWA
Northwest Orient
Northeast
National
Southern later merged with North Central
Pan Am
BTW, Midwest was the best. Even served steak and lobster for dinner. Owned by Kimberley Clark and the only route was DC to Milwaukee.

Many airlines over expanded under deregulation starting about 1978. When the crunch hit in 1980, everyone started cutting back and merging. I was interviewing several airlines at the time. One week they were hiring and starting new pilot orientation classes, and the next week they were laying off personnel. Crazy times.

Good afternoon! Northeast Airlines! I said to hubby, somewhere in the countless boxes of photos we packed this summer, there is a picture of you and your sister getting on a Northeast Airlines plane at Logan, returning to PQI. He couldn't remember,so he called his sister. She thinks they had gone (in the car) to Boston with their parents (their father had a meeting) and then took a flight back to northern Maine. Their older brother probably took the picture. He was in grad school in Boston.

Anyone remember People's Express? One of hubby's other sisters lived in Marco Island with her boyfriend. She was a home health care nurse and he was selling condos. In 1983, we took People's Express from PWM to SRQ. Ha. What a trip! Passengers were bringing their bicycles on the plane. His sister picked up us at the airport and I believe we took U.S. 41 to Naples. I-75 wasn't completed yet? Those were the days of "square grouper" (ahem) and I remember going to a restaurant and having a tense exchange between hubby and SIL's boyfriend and a sketchy character. :)

Between NY and Boston we had NY Air, and IIRC Apple Air. One of those, or maybe it was People Express, charged $24 for the one way between NYC and BOS, and people paid cash on board, the flight attendants going up and down the aisle. And they'd give you a bagel and cream cheese.

Yeah...that's the problem; the CDC hasn't enough money or power.
Here's what the dicks will never admit - 90% of the bungling was what they're given credit for doing and had they not done any of it we'd have about the same number of deaths [whatever that actual number might be] but we'd also have our rights and not a destroyed economy and not an imbecilic, evil lunatic as president.
