Sen. Joe Manchin puts the kibosh on Biden's clean energy plan:
Key to Biden’s Climate Agenda Likely to Be Cut Because of Manchin Opposition
The West Virginia Democrat told the White House he is firmly against a clean electricity program that is the muscle behind the president’s plan to battle climate change.
The WaPo flagged this a few days back. Manchin's objection seems a bit vague:
Manchin had a frank conversation with White House aides late last week where he said he couldn't support the CEPP in its current form, according to two of the people close to the negotiations, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the private discussions.
The centrist coal-state senator "doesn't see a formulation that could get past his concerns with regard to rewarding utilities for behavior they're already taking," one person said, "and he pretty much conveyed that."
Its not clear where Biden and his crack leadership team are headed with this. But the Times piece concludes with some LOL wish-casting:
It is also possible that Democrats may try to push through the clean electricity program as a stand-alone bill — but the timeline for doing so is narrowing, with the 2022 midterm elections approaching.
Sure. There ought to be plenty of eager Republican votes for this in the Senate.
How far over the cliff of common sense have we gone, this far:
Sprinkles. Yep, sprinkles

I hope that article is correct, Clarice, for the sake of the nation.
Banning sprinkles but not riots; a Transportation Secretary who's on maternity leave but is "ultra-available" on anything but the transportation crisis; Psaki welcomes the "competition" from Chinese hypersonic rockets.
So we'll have 5 minutes warning of Armageddon instead of 30? I really don't see much change. Maybe that's why the X-37B is sitting up there. The first rule of Space Club is you don't discuss Space Club.
The Chinese and Russians have been making huge noise about this, but DARPA has been noodling this stuff since my dad briefly ran it in the 1960's.
And until they figure out the need for 10-20 additional Gw to run those 'lectric cars, I don't think we should be worrying about 'lectric cars.
And until they condemn a few hundred or thousand beachfront homes of the rich and infamous, I don't think we should worry about global warming. Wake me up when beachfront property prices come down.

https://eugyppius.substack.com/p/maximum-vaccination
FTA:f you want to lower hospitalisations and deaths, in other words, the difference between vaccinating 40% of your population and 80% of your population is not nearly as great as it seems. In fact, as you move to ever lower-risk cohorts, the volume of vaccinations required to reduce deaths grows in inverse proportion to the deaths you are reducing. This is the phenomenon of diminishing returns. It means that if you have vaccinated all the olds and sicks and an additional 50% or 70% of everyone, AND you are still suffering from a raging pandemic of the unvaccinated, there are probably not enough immunologically naive people left to give you a hope of vaccinating your way out.
The unspeakable truth is that the vaccines don’t suppress case rates at all. We have long known that their efficacy against infection fades to zero after week 20, but even at the high point — the first month after dose 2 — the protection is sure to be vastly overstated. This would be why even academic journals are starting to run pieces with titles like “Increases in COVID-19 are unrelated to levels of vaccination across 68 countries and 2947 counties in the United States”:

--BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors appointed as a Los Angeles County Commissioner--
Democrats finally found a way to discredit Joe McCarthy; stop hiding the communists under people's beds and just appoint them to public office instead.
Looking forward to Empress Nahncy and the Dems creating Marxist Pride Month and the Communist Pride parades on May Day next year. The red stripe in all the homo pride flags will no doubt bleed through all the rest of the stripes leaving just a big field of blood red.

1. He's a weasel.
2. No one seems interested in Pence's toadies.
3. The Washington Examiner is untrustworthy.
Wade through this article and see if you think Pence demonstrates leadership material. I don't, and he was my governor.

Doesn't this look terrible:
SHOCKING: Nike Exec. Larry Miller Admits to Murdering Teen, Receives Praise From Nike, CEO.
However. You finally come to this "...But before the 72-year-old Miller became the successful businessman he is today, he shot and killed a fellow teenager in 1965 and spent years in prison..."
[This lessens the sensationalism of the headline. The guy killed someone and paid the penalty.]

Opinion: Don’t rant about short-staffed stores and supply chain woes. Try to lower expectations. https://wapo.st/3jd2t9P
