I forgot to mention that I got caught up watching 3 movies in the "Left Behind" series yesterday afternoon. I had read the first book in the series back in 1995 or so when it first came out, and was curious about how the story continued.

The plot line is about what happens after The Rapture and the battle with the Antichrist and those loyal to him with those who are late believers who recognize the evil being worked on people's souls.

What struck me and really creeped me out was that it predicts a pandemic, weapons that fire from satellites in space, the attempt to control the world's food supply through restricting mobility of populations and the ownership of large tracts of land, and the marginalization of traditional religions in favor of a "one world" religion which persecutes Christians and Jews.

I found it very weird that so much that is currently happening was in the plot line. Either Tim Lahaye (the original author of the books) anticipated current events or was intent on evangelizing through the use of Hollywood.

Or we are living in the End Times. Anyway, it was a strange experience.

MM, we ain't got nuthin on Singapore (where even families are not allowed outside their homes in groups greater than 2.

An entire class at my grandson's fancy-dancy American School was forced to quarantine for two weeks because a classmate, who tested negative, lived in a house with a father who also tested negative, but who worked in an office where somebody he had no contact who did test positive.

And each kid (thankfully the grade above my G'sons) was forced to quarantine in a room selected by the Covid Enforcement Officer who visited each student's home to select the most secure room, the kid was not allowed out of the room at any time, wore a monitor (linked to the state) to ensure that, and only one designated parent was allowed into the room to bring food, etc. Each kid was then tested every 24 hours and if ever it was positive, that kid would be removed from the home and placed in a government facility for a new two week period.

We told YL that they could have either our house in Potomac or the house on Nantucket if they would "f*ck" the jobs, come home for Christmas and not go back. Her three kids are 5-7 so I promised to hire a full time elementary teacher to home school them until they made full time plans.

Not only do they not consider that, Ig, it has not dawned on them that much of their (heretofore) spectacular economy was driven by multi-national offices of companies that fled Hong Kong and the Chicoms.

US companies that used to offer "Singapore Rotations" to their best and brightest can't get any families to even consider coming over, and already YL has lost five sets of friends w/kids who said "screw it, we're outta here". Companies can't even get their consultants to come visit because they are forced, assuming they pass all the requirements for visiting in the first place, to quarantine in a government facility for 14 days. That is 14 days of billable hours that the client has to absorb.

And even when the CEOs (Covid Enforcement Officers) relax a given restriction, they can reimpose them in an instant, and do, without any warninh at all.

YL says it feels like living with an abusive husband who "most of the time" is normal.

Talk about killing the proverbial goose.

PS. Imagine what circuits in the brains of kids 5-7 are not allowed to form normally without all the "signals" that are hidden when everybody in school and life is masked 24x7.

Driving around LA yesterday it was somewhat amazing to see some people wearing masks while driving.

The acidity leached lead out of plateware until they figured it out. So for nigh on 400 years a food that was consumed as a part of the Mesoamerican diet was not internationalized until some Neapolitan invented the pizza.
