The CBO estimates that the Biden Build Back Better bill is not fully paid for. On the other hand, the key dispute is the likely revenue from enhanced IRS enforcement, and per the (totally non-partisan!) Treasury estimates used by the White House, the CBO estimate is too low. Time may tell, if this bill doesn't perish in the Senate.
Meanwhile, in what seems to have been a surprise to some, House Minority Leader McCarthy staged a one-man filibuster, speaking on the House floor for over eight hours and pushing the BBB vote to Friday.
This could have been predicted since we've seen it before, and recently. Its a quirk of House rules:
McCarthy was able to hold the floor indefinitely under the procedures of the House, which say the majority leader and the minority leader get what's called a "Magic Minute" at the end of floor debate, meaning they can speak for as long as they want. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi used a similar tactic as minority leader in 2018, speaking for more than eight hours on the House floor in a speech about young undocumented immigrants, the previous record for a floor speech.
Who knew?

So let’s just forget about the utter negligence if not malevolence of government clowns in Kenosha and Washington, Mr DCSCA.
This whole chain of events was set off by a, at best, mentally unstable violent pedophile who was allowed to see daylight from outside a cell.

No, P&P.
It was set off by a self-appointed, unsupervised, un-deputized, unaffiliated w/any official WI law enforcement entity vigilante; a 17 year old kid who 'ran to the fire with his squirt gun' and got burned when he killed two people [who could have been undercover cops BTW]-- w/his AR-15.

Just another lie... a new way to phrase the ever elusive 'waste, fraud and abuse' tallies. Which never adds up.
$3.5 trillion of spending won't cost anything; 100% is 90%; $2000 is $1400; abandons $85 billion in military equipment to the enemy; sells two multi-billion aircraft carriers [the JFK & Kitty Hawk] literally for a penny a piece for scrap, which given the largess of the Pentagon budget, could have been refitted as hurricane/quake relief vessels on the E & W coasts for perhaps another 20 years of service.
He kills 13 service people; has no secure borders, no Covid tests for illegals; mandatory shots for citizens; lies about driving 18 wheelers; can't walk up stairs nor remember the names of world leaders and views KR verdict w/'anger and concern'-- inflation is "transitory" [so is life, Joe] and we're all to stupid to understand the 'supply train' except for a giy who has been working in government for 50 years-- not the private sector. Which is why a can of Ocean Spray carnberries is $3.29 this year, not $1 like last year and oil companies are to blame for $5.15/gas, not Joe; and $10 London Broil is nothing to beef about.
Nothing is ever their fault; nothing ever adds up... which is why both the Ds & Rs are wholly unqualified to be spending 'other people's money.'

The @AP buries the lede, waiting until paragraph 32 before reporting:
They "report" Jesse Jackson’s bloviations in paragraph 5.You would think that any decent news gathering organization would report in the first paragraphs that the video clearly showed he was being pursued aggressively by someone he could reasonably assume wanted to do him bodily harm.
Reporting like this is a disservice to readers, newspapers, the country, and all the principles the country stands for.

I am listening to the audio version of Lady Death, the biography of Soviet sniper Lyudmila Pavlichenko, and have reached the part where she talks about the trip to the USA. It took two weeks to get from Moscow to Miami by air, and then rail to Washington. The war probably had a lot to do with the time taken.

Speaking of Nicholas II, is this where you’re supposed to say “and Putin smiled”:
“On 9th May 2016, Natalya Poklonskaya took part in the Immortal Regiment March[1], during which she carried an icon of Tsar Martyr Nicholas II. Earlier this week, she opened up for the first time about the retributions that followed.
“For the fact that I carried the image of Nicholas II, which is revered as a Saint in the Russian Orthodox Church, I was punished. I even received a letter from the General Prosecutor’s Office. On 22nd June 2016, the First Deputy Prosecutor General wrote: “You have committed an inappropriate act, contrary to the charter of the Immortal Regiment movement, prompting criticisms from the Russian media. As an employee of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation, you have committed a violation of the code of ethics”. So, I was punished, but I am very happy with this punishment – because that means I did something right.”

PP. "The Immortal Regiment is a massive civil event staged annually on 9th May in major cities in Russia during the Victory Day celebrations."
She takes a picture of Tsar Nicholas to the Great Patriotic War (WWII) victory celebrations. That's the victory of the U.S.S.R. over the Axis forces (which probably included 'Russian Royalists').

Press Releases Gov. Evers: Releases statement regarding Rittenhouse verdict
Gov. Evers: Releases statement regarding Rittenhouse verdict
MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today released the following statement regarding the verdict in the Rittenhouse case:
“No verdict will be able to bring back the lives of Anthony Huber and Joseph Rosenbaum, or heal Gaige Grosskreutz’s injuries, just as no verdict can heal the wounds or trauma experienced by Jacob Blake and his family. No ruling today changes our reality in Wisconsin that we have work to do toward equity, accountability, and justice that communities across our state are demanding and deserve.
“Kenoshans are strong, resilient, and have spent the last year working every day together toward healing. This case and the resulting national spotlight on the Kenosha community and our state have undoubtedly reopened wounds that have not yet fully healed. I echo the calls of local Kenosha community leaders and join them in asking everyone who might choose to assemble and exercise their First Amendment rights in any community to please only do so safely and peacefully. We must have peace in Kenosha and our communities, and any efforts or actions aimed at sowing division are unwelcome in our state as they will only hinder that healing.
“I’ve seen the pain and the frustration of so many, and we must remain steadfast in our commitment to ending violence in our communities, supporting victims and survivors as they heal from trauma, and rooting out the disparities that are so often inextricably linked to that violence and trauma. We must be unwavering in our promise to build a state where every kid, person, and family can live their life free of violence and have every chance to be successful.
“We must move forward, together, more united and more motivated to build the sort of future we want for our state—one that is just, one that is equitable, and one where every person has the resources and opportunity to thrive—and I will not stop working to achieve that vision.”
A more mealy mouthed statement from the guy who is largely responsible for the riot in the first place would be hard to imagine.

Reading through several examples of leftist mythology about the Rittenhouse trial this morning, I thought about the bad kids from "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory":
Veruca Salt was an ill behaved, spoiled child who went insane when she didn't get everything she wanted.
Mike Teavee was a complete know-it-all who actually knew nothing and doesn’t know when to keep his mouth shut and his opinions to himself.
Violet Beauregarde was a self-centered child, a hyper-aggressive and vicious competitor only focused on winning.
Augustus Gloop was an extremely greedy child, a glutton obsessed with food and facilitated by his parents, he never stops eating.
It is as if Roald Dahl was describing the contemporary American left when he wrote "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory".
