The NYT/WaPo/major news/establishment metaverse (since it's mainly fantasy) invokes a delirium of self righteousness that has finally managed to piss off most of the country and for that matter, the Western World.
From banning farting cows to cutting off our oil to spite our faces to CRT to Common Core pretty much everything they have told us is false and/or destructive.
The search for excellence is now a dumbing down that started in our universities of all places.
Every now and then a Musk comes along and dazzles us, but it is in discovering and inventing and creating lasting meaning that we move forward. And if ever there was a symbol to sum up the damage and mediocrity it is Biden and his crew.
Off to the Huntington Library and dim sum. There's a Holbein the Younger exhibit at the Getty that looks interesting. I may save that for next week.
In other news, we are formally out of our house in Southampton that we sold. The last of the treasures we wanted to keep are on a truck on their way to Florida. Family home since 1913 when my grandfather built it for the massive sum of $5,000. When not travelling with my Air Force dad, we lived there.
Then while we were in London and getting ready to come back, the spouse designed a total renovation and supervised it until it was ready for occupancy. On the day we moved in, I sat outside with a vodka tonic when Esliabet came out and announced it was time (she was 9 months pregnant:)
So, it was the house Frederick was born in. Actually, the hospital, just down the road. We raised him there with frequent travels to our condo in Florida. When he was in 7th grade, we moved back permanently but still kept a place in Florida. He graduated and started high school at Mercy in Riverhead. Then the diocese decided to shut it down and we were not going to send him to the nearest catholic high school which was in West Islip, an hour drive away.
That's when we started looking boarding schools and hit on Canterbury in CT. Great independent catholic school. 2 years there for Frederick and we could easily visit for the football games, his wrestling, and spring Crew regattas. Elisabet wanted him to finish is last two years at her alma mater at Atlantic College, Wales. They had a 2 year International Baccularate program. Now after graduating, he wants to matriculate in Media & Culture at the University of Amsterdam.
So, he is all over the map and we are settled in Florida. No regrets but I can feel a shallow spot of family history.
People who insist on being above the fray, leave rats to devour us. Maybe neither side is perfect, but one side is definitely better than the other or no side.
Our side is, at best, pining for the days of JFK, though some of us are pining for the era of Harding and Coolidge, and even some a bit more radical, for Arnaud Amaury. :)
The other side is appointing actual communists, you know, the older and equally brutal cousins of Nazis, who announce as goals the bankrupting of the oil, gas and coal industries and imprisoning people who believe they are in charge of their health and bodies. This side is pining for and shooting for, and if allowed to will no doubt achieve the days of the Holodomor, caused by their ideological and spiritual ancestors.
FTS and any dumbass with a head the size of a haystack and a brain the size of a pea, like Jonah Effing Goldberg, stupid enough to think the first side deserves a pox on its house.
He's a stupid POS who would enable the triumph of tyranny were the people whose side he used to litter with his fat-ass-presence as worthless and stupid as he but who will instead do whatever is necessary to prevent the triumph of evil while bad, fat, fatuous, limp dick "men" like St Jonah the Sanctimoious do nothing.
There is a black guy named King who is playing soccer for Norway in a World Cup Qualifier against Latvia. Keeping with home language he should change his name to Konge (Norwegian for King:)
I read Jonah(for the first time in many years) and I wanted to punch him.it was worth thinking about but I came to a very different conclusion. Re. the women's material sent to Russia as part of Lend Lease.
The Russians received $11.3 billion in WWII dollars from the US, so $181 million is a drop in the bucket.
Clarice. What better way to hide thievery from the US side (Or US/Russian)than to 'ship' non-military material to Russia. If the material was never sent - bombs and bullets may be missed, but material for women?
“The women of Russia have every reason to be well dressed, even today, thanks to Mr. Hopkins. In the three years 1942-1944 we sent the Russians dress goods costing more than$152 million, plus $24 million of satin twill, and ribbons, braids and trimmings, costing millions more—a grand total of $181 millions for women’s apparel. (In the same period the Russian Army got only $21 million of uniform material).—George Racey Jordan"
Please join me in prayers for MM2. Sounds like she may need them.
What you didn't know, Davod, is that that satin and lace went into frilly things for the nomenklatura. Much like Muslim women, the Soviets, like Robert De Niro in the film Stardust, enjoyed rouging their cheeks, putting on a pair of G.I. issue nylons and going out to the Lubyanka, which had a night club on the top floor.

Left unsaid and no less true is that it is a clear indictment 50 years of failure of public schools, colleges and universities, political parties, and the deep state.
We had a 3 day hiatus when no birds showed up to gobble our holly bberries. Today a flock of robins is at it.Apparently the berries are a big treat because the birds dive and swoop all over the trees.
Sounds beautiful, Clarice! My bluebirds are hanging around - checking to make sure I've cleaned out the houses in preparation for next spring. It's a chilly 30 degrees here so some of my other birds are enjoying the suet.

Good morning, JOM!https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2021/11/all_he_had_was_a_handgun.html

Actually, I think the IM's were from a scammer who had hacked MM's account.

Excellent, Clarice. Clear, cogent, compelling.
Left unsaid and no less true is that it is a clear indictment 50 years of failure of public schools, colleges and universities, political parties, and the deep state.

Great Pieces, Clarice (as always) - Thank you!
I haven't heard anything new from MM's son this morning.

“All he had was a handgun. why did you think that was a threat?”

Handguns not a threat? Why can’t I carry mine on an airplane?

BLM will riot whatever the jury decides. It’s what they do.

Must be that all of the "gun violence" we hear so much about is from long guns, backed up by no data whatsoever.

i do remember some back issues of that publication, where young people were speaking about the need for socialism, around the time of the moonlanding, but the editors were more discerning then.

Yes, for us it's been pretty apparent, just that others have caught on, and are willing to spend $$ and man/hours to study it, is the new part.

"but it was only a little gun" doesn't seem to be much of a defense. There is a reason they are called deadly weapons. And a 9mm pointed at you from 3' away will definitely ruin your life.
And why and how did the convicted pederast have a firearm in the first place?
More holes in this case than a Swiss cheese.
