Per the NY Times, Biden's advisers want him to continue talking up our robust economy, even though polls show lots of people aren't feeling it.
Out-of-touch and confused - yeah, that's the ticket!
How’s the Economy? Biden Sees a Boom. Many Americans Don’t.
The president has struggled to sell strong growth and job gains to a public that appears more concerned about rising prices — and remains anxious about Covid.
By Jim Tankersly
WASHINGTON — President Biden and his top aides are struggling to bridge the gap between the economy they want to celebrate and the one that has left many Americans anxious and frustrated, as a record-setting recovery collides with prolonged inflation and an ongoing pandemic that has left consumers deeply pessimistic.
The challenge begins with a disbelief of sorts among Mr. Biden’s economic advisers. They insist the job market, with a 4.2 percent unemployment rate, has never been better, delivering wage gains for lower-paid workers that Mr. Biden believes will help lift more people into the middle class. They say those benefits will endure for years, even once inflation, which last -month accelerated at its fastest pace in 40 years, cools down.
The struggle is also entwined with Mr. Biden’s fight against Covid. Administration officials say that the anxiety voters are expressing to pollsters is less about the economy and the president’s handling of it and more an expression of pent-up frustration with a pandemic that has persisted for nearly two years.
White House officials say they have no plans to shift Mr. Biden’s messaging on economic issues, even as poll after poll shows his approval ratings in decline and voter worry over inflation swamping all other views of the economy. Their strategy remains focused on stressing the administration’s work to spread vaccinations and end the pandemic without further lockdowns, cheering the nation’s progress in economic growth and promising that Mr. Biden’s policies will bring down prices for oil, food and consumer goods.
Eventually reality will catch up to one side or the other.
Given the standard DC two step on the debt, plus BBB parts 1 and 2…
It is clear the grift economy is booming.
The Kung Flu shuffle keeps everyone locked up at home so they don’t notice the utter lack of things on shelves and the sky high prices of that out of stock item.
Beats mean tweets — if you share the grift.

SloJo should just keep mumbling along. He's currently tied with Carter '77 wrt to inflation and I see no reason to believe he can't get it over 8% next year.
People just need to stop believing their lying eyes and rely on Biden's proven record of competence.

Biden's calling in his media fauns to beg for better press is pathetic. I noticed that Drudge Report fell right in line the day after.
And so even with his whining and pleading, the world sees Biden as a hopelessly inept buffoon.
Remember the song "Charlie Brown"? Well we know why everybody's always pickin' on Joe.

It's a nice day out so I was cleaning my balcony windows, thinking it might be my last chance before it gets really cold.
All of a sudden I hear a roar unlike the usual cargo or corporate jets bound for Teterboro. I look up and there are four twin-tailed fighters flying in a tight formation. They went past Teterboro, out over the Meadowlands, before veering out over the Hudson and flying north again.
I'm like WTF? Oh yeah, the Army-Navy game starts at 3 PM. While typing this they came back for two more passes.
I thought it might be the Air Force paying a friendly visit. No, the two lower passes made clear to me that they were Navy planes.
Fun to watch seeing them come in that low.

Good afternoon! jim nj, that is very cool. Lovely day here in Florida. I'm still wrapping my mind around a pleasant December day in Florida is comparable to a lovely summer day in Maine. :)
When hubby woke me this morning and said there was terrible news, I thought that Biden had croaked. You know we're going to wake up one morning to the news that Kamala is president.
Anyway, hubby made a good deal to trade in my five year old Grand Cherokee. Despite multiple trips the past several years between Maine and Florida, it still had low mileage. When he told the salesman that his 2018 Wrangler only had 25,000 miles, he probably could have traded that on the spot. Ha. The car lots here in our area are empty, really amazing. I'll probably keep the Grand Cherokee forever, considering it won't be driven in snow and ice. Our car trips up north will be confined to the spring and summer.

We are seeing some shortages in Florida. I went grocery shopping yesterday and doubled up on quite a few items. One item that is impossible to find is half and half. The Publix shelves were empty. We went to the Amish market this morning and there wasn't any half and half to be found. Anyway, I decided on good old whole milk for my coffee.

So, the son-in-law is spending the month of January on the Orkney Islands in Scotland. He has waited two years (delayed because of Covid) to participate in a residential workshop at a world famous voice/music center. The day after Christmas he and the daughter are taking a flight to Edinburgh. She will spend a week with him before returning home. They already have reservations for New Year's Eve at The Shepard's Heid in Edinburgh. They are so excited for this trip, so I hope the UK doesn't clamp down on the Omicron variant.

From Pieces;
And, in their usual projection, they assume that those they hate are, in fact, hate-filled when they are not.
In my experience the act of projection is usually a conscience one and they make no assumption anything they are projecting is true. Just the opposite; they know it's not. They want to feel better about their own repulsive selves or justify some rotten trait they have so they box it up, put a ribbon on it and give it to someone else they resent so they can then point at that poor dope and cry out what a bum he is. But despite their rhetoric they know they're the bum.

Slept late. Woke to find the excellent news about Wallace. Yay!
Went to dem sister’s open house last night. Really nice to see the whole family. She also had invited her long time friends from school, many of whom I knew.
We left when I started getting harrassed by a retired nurse because I hadn’t been vaccinated. I bit my tongue since the woman is fat as a flawn and is much more susceptible. When I brought up Pfizer and NIH having shared financial interests, She told me that they ALWAYS have done it that way.
I did have a good time though. Wallace news is a bonus on my weekend.

How can one argue with the murder rate skyrocketing, a border disaster, a 50 year high in inflation and yet they continue to peddle their BS.

Yeah, I have an anomoly in my heart's architecture. Something to do with the upper portion of the organ.
Most of us have something called left atrial appendage in the upper (atrial) portion of the heart, which is often evaluated under light general anesthesia by transesophageal echo in people with a fib to see if there is clot in it. Depending on its anatomy, there is a non surgical procedure that places a device called a Watchman that closes it off, reducing stroke risk without having to take anticoagulants.

"The typical Hollywood writer . . . is of an ethnic background from a large Eastern city—usually from Brooklyn. He grew up being taught that people in small towns hated him, were different from him, and were out to get him. As a result, when he gets the chance, he attacks the small town on television or the movies. . . .The television shows and movies are not telling it “like it is”; instead they are giving us the point of view of a small and extremely powerful section of the American intellectual community—those who write for the mass visual media. . . .What is happening, as a consequence, is something unusual and remarkable. A national culture is making war upon away of life that is still powerfully attractive and widely practiced in the same country. . . . Feelings of affection for small
towns run deep in America, and small-town life is treasured by millions of people. But in the mass culture of the country, a hatred for the small town is spewed out on television screens and movie screens every day. . . . Television and the movies are America’s folk culture, and they have nothing but contempt for the way of life of a very large part of the folk. . . . People are told that their culture is, at its root, sick, violent, and depraved, and this message gives them little confidence in the future of that culture. It also leads them to feel ashamed of their country and to believe that if their society is in decline, it deserves to be."--Ben Stein

Wallace leaves Fox. =yawn=
Wallace embarrassed– if not dinged himself and his credibility- w/his sloppy role as moderator at the presidential debate last year, on top of slipping ratings [and it is always about ratings.] Competition from Newsmax w/Fox has been strong, too. He won’t be missed at Fox any more than Shep Smith.
But the quick move and hire to CNN turf suggests new direction from the ownership change coming to the network that Turner built. They can plug Wallace into a lot of slots- depending on his contract parameters.
A shift away from opinion newsreaders and entertainment filler [those series of idiodic ‘history of everything’ crap] and back to a hard news core is likely coming there, and long overdue— and it will be welcomed.
Still, Wallace’s judgement remains questionable; in his statement today, he said, ”I am honored and delighted to join Jeff Zucker and his great team.” Zucker is an entertainment exec, right out of NBC Universal, and chiefly responsible for the decade long CNN trainwreck. When Zucker finally leaves, CNN has a chance to revive its reputation as a viable news source.

You should have heard her! I wonder if she is getting fed up, too.
Posted by: MissMarple2 | December 12, 2021 at 09:12 PM
Narciso- Since Zucker took over, viewers have been better informed about Lemon's sex life, his personal views, ear piercings and drunken partying on New Year's Eve - as well as Coops' Times Square goofiness and his momma's wealthy heritage - than they have been on news events of the day. It is all on Zucker. Bernie had the blessings of the Cronkite seal of approval.
And unlik Lemon, for decades as Managing Editor and anchor of the CBS Evening News, nobody knew what Walter's personal politics, sex life or habits were. CBS insiders knew he could tell a good joke, liked a drink or two, famously enjoyed sailing and occasionally did a fully clotherd faux striptease act at company gatherings.
But aside from his labeled and researched broadcast editorial on Vietnam in 1968- and his giddy, interest-driven-coverage of the moon program [which he steadfastly believed would be the most significant story for history of our times,] industry colleagues and viewers knew next to nothing about his personal preferences-- and 'that's the way it was' because he wanted it that way.
He was criticized once by journalist colleagues at the time when, while still the anchor of the CBS Evening News, he crossed the line from journalism into entertainment and harmlessly appeared as himself one time in a truly funny episode of the 'Mary Tyler Moore Show' and never crossed the line again while an anchor. Hardly no one at CNN or any of the network news divisions would adhere to such ethical guidelines today.
The CNN roster of newsreaders [hardly any are genuine journalists] remains pathetic-- and that is all on Jeff Zucker. And a thorough house cleaning of "entertaining opinionators" who pass themselves off as news gatherers there is long overdue-- starting with new CNN ownership jettisoning the entertainment-minded Zucker ASAP.

IIRC Gail Russell drank because she was pathologically shy which made making movies a little tough.

John Malone sounds like he considers Jeff Zucker and his great team not so great to the point they might consider sprucing up their resumes.
Who you gonna believe mealy mouthed Chrissy or the largest shareholder of CNN parent Discover?

Iggy- Wallace will be ancient history in a week- once off air; quickly forgotten. "That's showbiz." At his age he has no future on a streaming service, either. Zucker's not going to be reupped on his contract as is-- but the rest of the 'dandelions' he seeded there are going to get weeded out by new ownership.

When the Crime Wave Hits Your Family
Our nanny’s living room in Oakland was sprayed with bullets. It didn’t even make the local news.

When the Crime Wave Hits Your Family
This writer is more honest than most libs, but still wants to cling to "progressive" ideas, like the commies who say it works, it just has never been tried properly.

Uncle Walter used to keep his boat in St. George's, MD at the same marina a friend of mine's dad had his.
We would go down for the weekends and sometimes see him. Seemed pretty normal to us.
These days the children of Sodom have too much time and too much money and too much occasion to misuse both. From the 60's onward parents were MIA per Jackson Brown's "Red Necked Friend" or Carly Simon's "That's the Way I heard It Should Be"
And so the nanny brought them up and they were shipped off to Andover or Exeter as soon as possible where they met like minded young groupthinkers and they all followed a merry path to the Ivy League or Berkeley or Oberlin where they were told by teacher's assistants with leather padded corduroy jackets what parasites they were.
Their grandkids had dreams of the glory days and all rebel in the same way. The new mantra is "Let's all be different together".
The rest of the country has changed as well but it has been that lunar/looney pull of the Left that has so damaged these people.

I "long ago" recognized that TOM MAGUIRE, was a slightly, or more likely MORE THAN SLIGHTLY, less intelligent example of a sentient thinker.
I was, OF COURSE, always correct. Tom Maguire is not even of AVERAGE INTELLIGENCE. Why?? You ask WHY???? Because he positioned himself as erudite and so very so GRACIOUS and of a higher calling.
HE IS NOT. I do not care what those of you who continue to believe this 2 bit clown is worthy of THINK about ME. Nothing personal peeps. Maguire is a dipshit. Thank you for your time.

Hospital start time for some of us!
I leave the house in ten minutes on work days. ;-)
(It was NOT like this when I first started. Though when I used the T in Boston, I had to catch the 6 am bus. But back in the day in private practice, I left at 6:40--more than an hour later.
And yes, slippery slopes ARE a thing.)

I made a big Kroger delivery order for today. I am trying to make up for all the expense my presence here incurs. We will see how well it works.

This seems, at best, a questionable strategy for a person trying to demonstrate he’s not illegally screwing over his creditors.

Chris Wallace and Bret Baier warned Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott there would be repercussions if the extreme rhetoric of top-rated Tucker Carlson’s wasn’t reined in. It wasn’t. Now Wallace has left Fox for CNN Plus

when does Baier opt for a more selective audience?

I would expect that soon, because he's going to get Prissy's seat on Sunday, if I were a betting man.
