Spring Forward!
Or, Spring Forward?!? Enough already!
Daylight Saving Time: Americans want to stay permanently ‘sprung forward’ and not ‘fall back’
Polled days before the annual ritual of ending Daylight Saving Time by changing their clocks, Americans say they would much rather have one time that lasts all year long, one that doesn’t require changing all clocks twice a year. The latest Economist/YouGov Poll finds that nearly four times as many Americans would end the practice of setting clocks ahead in the spring and back again in the fall.
As the headline say, the preferred one-stop is to spring forward and stay there. Never look back!
While Americans would prefer one time for the whole year and not worry about keeping their clocks in order, if there is going to be only one time for the U.S, which one should it be?
Nearly twice as many Americans who prefer not changing their clocks would prefer that Daylight Saving time – not Standard Time – be the one that is kept.
Again, which time one picks isn’t a matter of politics. Instead, it appears age matters more. Adults under the age of 30 are closely divided on whether they want sunlight later into evening (which happens with Daylight Saving Time) or in the morning. Older adults have a clear preference for Daylight Saving Time. So do people from every region.
Naturally this won't happen.
The change:

Jim Eagle,
My son filled up the new Jeep for his wife yesterday and it cost $90!!! Fortunately she doesn’t commute far to the school where she teaches.
The not driving thing is frustrating, isn’t it? My son is trying to get me in to the neurologist so I can get cleared to drive again. Once that happens I can look for an apartment or townhouse close to my sisters and daughter. I don’t know where anything is out here in the far west side.

I have a friend whose nephew drives a semi; $1100 to fill up last week.
I paid $5.29 last Friday in rural CA.

The press doesn't get it--it's the poor and middle class who must commute and/or drive bigger cars.. My neighborhood is close in with lots of easy to reach public transport, but the houses here(and rents) are expensive. The neighborhood is full of shrinks, lawyers and reporters, and they don't get hit as badly. Seat boosters for kids take up so much space, families with young children need SUVs. These people here have no children or grown children. Not a problem for them
Posted by: clarice | March 14, 2022 at 11:46 AM

I agree. Not everyone can work at home. If you have more than 3 kids you need a van or SUV with approved car seats. Reporters know this but ignore it.
Media people think they will be insiders with extra rights and privileges. Instead, they will be thrown to the wolves as soon as their usefulness is over.

Among other side affects, high gas prices make it impossible to reopen an office outside a blue hell urban shithole. As far as I can tell, OSHA hasn’t relieved employers of liability for unsafe working conditions at people’s homes when working from home. This is not a good thing.

Desinformatiziya began long ago with the Comintern and is alive and well. The Russians invented it and conned the world for 75 years.
I am a skeptic, but when Western Intel analysts report that scads of Russian vehicles are broken down or blown up I tend to believe those sources.
The Fox reporter has done a good job, but I think all of this talk of how badly corrupt Ukraine is is shaded. I am hoping my cousin, who spent a lot of time there as a democracy advisor and has contacts, can clarify the reality.
The oil business for 70% of the world's supply is corrupt as hell. Mullahs, dictators, warlords and criminals. I just don't know if it applies to the current president of Ukraine as well.
Any man willing to stand and fight against what was the 2nd most powerful military in the world is worthy of my respect.

Nick Burns with a lesson for that dummy Mearsheimer on how realism just isn't enough. He then completely misreads Thucydides' Melian dialogue as actually being a call for rejecting realism and committing moralistic national suicide. He actually uses an example where every man is slaughtered and the women and children bound in slavery as the course Ukraine should take. It's not unlike Gandhi's chunkheaded call for the Jews to commit mass suicide to both prevent Hitler from killing them and show him he wasn't the boss of them.
Victor Davis Hanson correctly noted the Melian example and warning in this column just a day or two ago;

I don't see a point in posting the two assessments that I have been doing again tonight. The last 3-4 days they read about the same way. Minor skirmishes, Russians re-fitting and trying to bolster re-supply, and most of what's happening during the current stall is Russia trying to reduce cities they can't enter by shelling with artillery, rockets, missiles and bombs.
Ukraine isn't winning when its civilian population in surrounded urban areas are the current focus of attack and it can't, apparently, retake lost territory, but they have clearly blunted the Russian attack.
I think the Russians have lost much more materiel and men than they had expected which is why the attacks now are not about maneuver, but stand-off long-range bombardment of civilian populations.
https://www.oryxspioenkop.com/2022/02/attack-on-europe-documenting-equipment.html
Is an interesting check on the propaganda. They try to document, with evidence, materiel losses. I presume that the tallies on both sides are too low and subject to bias as the Ukraine side is supplying most of the photo/video evidence, yet in most categories of losses one half of the losses are not destroyed or damaged, but captured. That seems to speak to morale or supply problems like fuel.

"In a healthy world not entangled by the cancer of internationalism the US, and especially it's citizens wouldn't, and shouldn't, care about what's going on in Ukraine, and we wouldn't have the leader of Ukraine speaking before the Senate, begging them for billions more in support while hundreds of thousands of American citizens suffer under a horrid crime wave, hyperinflation and crippling gas prices, to say nothing of the impending energy crisis that a decent elite would already be on top of trying to solve, which ours are clearly not."--Shadowman
"There is one thing now to which I will call your attention. You remember that I proposed to give a week’s pay. There are in that House many very wealthy men—men who think nothing of spending a week’s pay, or a dozen of them, for a dinner or a wine party when they have something to accomplish by it. Some of those same men made beautiful speeches upon the great debt of gratitude which the country owed the deceased—a debt which could not be paid by money—and the insignificance and worthlessness of money, particularly so insignificant a sum as $10,000, when weighed against the honor of the nation. Yet not one of them responded to my proposition. Money with them is nothing but trash when it is to come out of the people. But it is the one great thing for which most of them are striving, and many of them sacrifice honor, integrity, and justice to obtain it."--https://www.capitalismreview.com/2019/10/not-yours-to-give-davy-crockett-on-government-charity/\

Desinformatiziya may have begun long ago with the Comintern but we sure have perfected it here at home. And there lies the problem with it for me. I don't believe a word our MSM reports. As an example, how many people realize that neo Nazi's control Uk's military? Not a lot, I've read articles posted out here refuting their existence. But it's true. And how many people believe the propaganda concerning Crimea. Our media informs us it was a Russian invasion followed by a phony election where the ballot boxes were stuffed to gain 96% of the referendum vote to leave Uk and join Russia.
Matt, I've often thought I'd follow you into battle after reading your posts, but not this time. I can't side with a country run by Nazi's who still believe in a superior race.

The Chief Otaman Petliura had been appointed head of state just two days prior to the tragedy, on February the 13th. Petliura issued Order 131 in which he mentioned the fact that numerous Jewish parties in Ukraine (Bund, Poale Zion, Folks-Partei, Unificationists) rose to defend the sovereignty of the Ukrainian Republic and were cooperating with the Ukrainian government. He condemned such pogroms, calling those initiating them deserters and enemies of the State that must be liquidated. The order was co-signed by the Chief of Staff, Otaman Yunakiv. The order was published in the Ukraina newspaper on February 20 (March 4, old style). Later, Petliura issued a special order to execute Semysenko for being the pogrom initiator. According to sources the order was carried out[9] on March 20, 1920.[citation needed] Other sources claim that he was released.[9]

As is becoming clear, Ukraine is not a place to support ANY narrative and has not been for centuries. Everything is complicated. Things were getting better but our problem is the deep corruption of our "establishment" in Russia, Ukraine and China. Figuring out who is involved with X and Y and Z and how that affects anything is the stuff of fantasy literature. "news" on all sides should be viewed with skepticism. I only believe the personal reports of friends and family there based on past performances.

WSJ reports today that Xi's economic plan is falling significantly behind predictions. He too is walking on a knife edge right now.
The SoKo's just elected a new conservative president who will not appease NoKo the way the last administration did.
Iran felt so bold as to launch missiles themselves into Iraq and it looks like the Iran deal may a smoldering wreck.
Pretty funny that a Jewish president is working with an anti-semite.
The Hungarians and Poles are being sold out by the EU as they take in hundreds of thousands of refugees.
Saudi Arabia is considering taking payments for oil in RMB.
But at the end of the day the two remaining powers are still intact. Hundreds of Russian tanks and armored vehicles are either smoldering or being repo'd by Ukrainian farmers.
Putin is using the old massed artillery tactic to flatten the Ukrainian cities. Ukraine's planting season is screwed. So what is left? Pre-89 Russia had a continuing food crisis. Now they may not be able to get enough wheat to make vodka. A lot of pissed off Russian drunks in the mix.
So what has Putin won and lost? The more neutral experts say up to 300 tanks and 1,200 other vehicles. How many thousands of KIA? Wounded? With little to show except smoking rubble. The estimate is that this war is costing Putin 20 billion Euros per day.
A lot of talk about how Putin isolated his economy, but how do you factor in the loss of huge numbers in the oil sector because of discounts and sanctions? The loss of the imports that made life bearable (no Big Mac or Benz for you!) and the loss of confidence by his own people in him?
This has become one of history's great debacles. A Phyrric victory if that, even.
And Putin is by the reports alone in his very own Fuehrerbunker. Some victory. Or worse, loss.

The White House response to Biden being sanctioned is that Joe Biden is actually Joe Biden Jr., so the Russians just sanctioned his dead father.
These people are literally insane and not living in reality.

Roco;
there are Aryanists in most of Europe. Especially with Muslim immigration as a flash point. Anti-semitism never really left. But to call an entire mixed society such as Ukraine Nazi is false. Yes, they are there. But no, they don't control the government. Ukraine is a hybrid. They want democracy as demonstrated in the 2014 revolution. They are very patriotic. But they are also mixed Russians and Ukrainians who largely lived in peace.
Just as with the separatists in Luhansk and Donetsk, there are extremists. Wouldn't you be if a foreign power was constantly scheming to take your country over as Putin did when he engineered Yanukovich's rise to power. Crimea was flat and simple a Russian invasion of opportunity on, you guessed it, Barak Obama's watch. Crimea was vital to Putin's Black Sea fleet even with the agreements with Ukraine.
From one of the web sites:
"At the time of Ukraine’s independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, Ukraine held the third largest nuclear arsenal in the world, including an estimated 1,900 strategic warheads, 176 intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), and 44 strategic bombers. By 1996, Ukraine had returned all of its nuclear warheads to Russia in exchange for economic aid and security assurances, and in December 1994, Ukraine became a non-nuclear weapon state-party to the 1968 nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT). The last strategic nuclear delivery vehicle in Ukraine was eliminated in 2001 under the 1991 Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START). It took years of political maneuvering and diplomatic work, starting with the Lisbon Protocol in 1992, to remove the weapons and nuclear infrastructure from Ukraine."
So Russia, the US and other countries, including China, were by treaty guarantors of Ukraine's peace and independence. A lot that was worth.
Now we hear about scary biolabs. The world is a deadly place with plenty of bugs to kills, a lot of them undiscovered. The U.S. has 9 biolabs, mainly Level 4, the highest level of safety. They research all of the really nasty shit. Nerve agents, viruses, infectious agents.
My understanding is that some of this work is contracted out to places like Wuhan and Ukraine. Not sure if Wuhan is a bioweapons lab, but it is a military run operation. I have no clue about the Ukrainian ones. But there are plenty of sci fi novels about agents escaping from U.S. biolabs. To date we haven't seen anything like that from Ukraine. But we have seen it from Wuhan.
So all of this talk of Nazis and skinheads and biolabs etc get woven into speculation and fabrication and gossip, basically. We don't know what we don't know.
And if some Jewish dude with balls the size and consistency of plutonium is leading them and they're following God bless 'em.
Ruhr, Sudetenland, Anschluss, Poland. Sound familiar? It's not new. It is the crocodile's breakfast.
And I say screw that.

--And Putin is by the reports alone in his very own Fuehrerbunker.--
Are those the same sources that placed a demented Trump alone in his very own Fueherbunker too?
--They want democracy as demonstrated in the 2014 revolution.--
From what I read Yanukhovic was elected legitimately in 2010 and then removed illegitimately in 2014. They want seem to want democracy in the same way our Democrats do - if they win an election it's democracy. If they lose one it's not, and they have the right to cheat until they win one again to bring democracy back.
