An awkward moment for the DoJ:
Jury acquits two in Michigan governor kidnap plot; deadlocks on two others
Partial defeat for the Justice Department’s efforts to combat domestic terrorism; defense lawyers said the men were entrapped by the FBI
A federal jury acquitted two men of conspiring to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, and deadlocked on the counts against two others, apparently agreeing to some degree with defense claims that FBI agents entrapped the men in a violent plot shortly before the 2020 election.
The trial in Grand Rapids, Mich., was closely watched as a test of the U.S. government’s ramped-up efforts to combat domestic terrorism, and Friday’s verdict is a partial defeat for the Justice Department. The men’s arrest in October 2020 raised alarms about the possibility of politically motivated violence as the nation was increasingly divided over a bitterly contested presidential race.
Bad legal advice, or stronger evidence? IDK.
It's hilarious to see all the noise this morning from lefties suddenly worried about the prospect of a billionaire having control over a social media platform.

“Early in life I have noticed that no event is ever correctly reported in a newspaper, but in Spain, for the first time, I saw newspaper reports which did not bear any relation to the facts, not even the relationship which is implied in an ordinary lie. I saw great battles reported where there had been no fighting, and complete silence where hundreds of men had been killed. I saw troops who had fought bravely denounced as cowards and traitors, and others who had never seen a shot fired hailed as heroes of imaginary victories; and I saw newspapers in London retailing these lies and eager intellectuals building emotional superstructures over events that never happened. I saw, in fact, history being written not in terms of what happened but of what ought to have happened according to various “party lines.”

The other day I wrote that I thought I had seen a credible report that the Russian ship Moskva had sunk.
The next day I saw reports that it was underway under power to Sevastapol (with an evacuated crew???), or reports that it was being towed to Sevastapol by Russian tugs.
Oops, I thought. Then came the confirmation that it had sunk.
Today I found this:
https://www.aa.com.tr/en/russia-ukraine-war/turkish-ship-rescued-54-sailors-on-damaged-russian-naval-cruiser-moskva/2564125
Turkish ship rescued 54 sailors on damaged Russian naval cruiser Moskva
Distress call was sent from Moskva, says Lithuania's Defense Minister
"At 1.14 a.m., the cruiser lay on its side, and after half an hour, all the electricity went out. From 2 a.m., the Turkish ship evacuated 54 sailors from the cruiser, and at about 3 a.m., Turkiye and Romania reported that the ship had completely sunk. The related loss of Russian personnel is still unknown, although there were 485 crew on board (66 of them officers)," Anusauskas said."
That's really curious from a sourcing standpoint and in that it doesn't mention any Russian ships involved in the rescue (they couldn't get there in time?). That same claim is mentioned in a Guardian article and here:
https://www.oryxspioenkop.com/2022/04/neptunes-wrath-flagship-moskvas-demise.html
Neptune’s Wrath: The Flagship Moskva’s Demise
Which covers some of the "what ifs" pretty well, such as: "If the sinking was indeed caused by the impact of two AShMs, then a scenario in which either the radars of the vessel simply did not detect them (or detected them too late), and the six AK-630 close-in-weapons systems (CIWS) proved incapable of protecting the ship appears significantly more likely. In this context it should be noted that no reports thus far have explicitly mentioned the number of AShMs supposedly launched (as opposed to the number that impacted), so that a scenario in which the Moskva's defenses were overwhelmed by a well-planned volley of missiles is not out of the question."

‘Fortress in a city’: steel plant becomes Ukrainian hold-out in Mariupol
Outnumbered forces concealed in the vast factory are the eastern city’s last line of defence against the Russian invaders
I was wondering why the Russians brought in long-range bombers to attack that area.
"An EU security source told Reuters it was too difficult to say how long the Ukrainians could hold on and that it was difficult for Russia to occupy the whole city because of the industrial complexes. “There are tunnels systems under the steel factory.”
Tunnels would be a good reason.
