What with all the extended voting rules Election Day is now the end of the beginning. Brookings has background on the various timetables states have adopted for processing and counting absentee ballots. Close races are likely to lead to delayed results in, eg, Pennsylvania.
Captain Ed reprises another pre-mortem on what looks like an emerging Democratic minority.
We used to count all the votes on election day!

Discovery of bronzes rewrites Italy's Etruscan-Roman history
"Italian authorities on Tuesday announced the extraordinary discovery of 2,000-year-old bronze statues in an ancient Tuscan thermal spring and said the find will “rewrite history” about the transition from the Etruscan civilization to the Roman Empire.
The discovery, in the sacred baths of the San Casciano dei Bagni archaeological dig near Siena, is one of the most significant ever in the Mediterranean and certainly the most important since the 1972 underwater discovery of the famed Riace bronze warriors, said Massimo Osanna, the Culture Ministry's director of museums."

Looking at NJ's 12 CDs. AP has called 11 of the 12 races. All were called for the incumbent except for Robert Menendez, son of the senator, who picked up an open Dem seat.
Thomas Kean, Jr., son of the former governor, is, with 90% of the vote counted, leading Dem incumbent Thomas Malinowski.
Kean 147,310 votes 52.1%
Malinowski 135,542 votes 47.9%
The district covers parts of six counties so its hard to tell where the missing 10% is to come from.
This could be a Republican pick-up.

RCP with 99% of the vote counted is calling NJ's 7th CD for Tom Kean for a Republican pick-up.

--Was last night a bummer or what? I can't believe it.--
This was my diagnosis at JOM2;
Me;
This is exactly right. When I used the term "manufactured votes" I didn't primarily mean fraud. I meant we have a two-tiered electoral system now. 2020 was the first tentative implementation of it as they were right in the middle of changing the rules and scaling up the urban vote harvesting machines. And these urban machines scale to any sized city and do not require an actual Chicago or Tammany Hall style machine.
The wrong conclusion to draw is that suddenly there are millions more progs. Polling is often off by a few points this way or that but in poll after poll, Biden is deeply unpopular, the populace is angry, anxious and dissatisfied, the generic ballot was strongly in the Rep's favor and race after race was polling the Rep's way and trending more that way as the election approached.
The Dems have devised a method by which they can get more of their people to the polls. Well not to the polls exactly. They have brought the polls to their voters and they have even brought harvesters who tell them how to vote. It should be self evident that a solution to this will probably not involve red states shackling themselves by adhering to the old, decrepit tier while the blue hone and perfect their new tier of collectivist supervoter.
Can the Reps adopt and adapt the same tactics to suburbs and rural areas? I'm doubtful but it only takes a few thousand votes to change the landscape bigly, so who knows? Will they? I'm even more doubtful of that.
One axiom I have learned to never doubt is 'when your enemy tells you who he is, believe him'. When progs say democracy is in peril if they don't win they are telling us very nearly plainly and explicitly they are aiming for a one party state and they believe they finally have the mechanism to achieve it.
I do not for one minute believe they will achieve it but I do believe we are in our own version of the chaos and tidal forces that prevailed in the 20s and 30s in Germany and in the oughts, tens and teens in Russia. The primary difference is the Establishment is already the former revolutionaries and insurgents and they are trying to find the path to consolidate power against what threatens to become the new insurgency. More and more they are casting their former incrementalism aside in a bold push to just take over.
I am on record many times of where I think that will lead and that I believe that is to their tidy little storming of the Winter Palace 2.0 and establishment of their Fourth Reich being strangled in its crib by an armed and raging populace of Americans disinclined to being ruled and enslaved by the dregs of society. But that remains to be seen.

New York CNN Business — Facebook parent company Meta on Wednesday said it is laying off 11,000 employees, marking the most significant job cuts in the tech giant’s history. BREAKING: Fifth Circuit vacates Biden student loan forgiveness program. Calls it an "unconstitutional exercise of Congress’s legislative power ..." Image
UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE NORTHERN DISTRICT OF TEXAS FORT WORTH DIVISION MYRA BROWN, ET AL., Plaintiffs, V. U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, ET AL., Defendants. No. 4:22-ev-0908-P ORDER The Constitution vests "all legislative powers" in Congress. This power, however, can be delegated to the executive branch. But if the executive branch seeks to use that delegated power to create a law of vast economic and political significance, it must have clear congressional authorization. If not, the executive branch unconstitutionally exercises "legislative powers" vested in Congress. In this case, the HEROES Act-a law to provide loan assistance to military personnel defending our nation -does not provide the executive branch clear congressional authorization to create a $400 billion student loan forgiveness program. The Program is thus an unconstitutional exercise
